2023-02-09:

Fri:
I got another huge haul! Two bags full. No lie. The freezer is so full I brought home a bunch of stuff and I still have stuff in the fridge. And when I say brought home I mean left with my parents. Though I did take some stuff for myself because I am greedy. Still, that's the third in two weeks, what are those people doing over there?
Busy at work, all the machines with D7.7 on them, so that's finally done. It was doing the same test over and over again, but at least that's the end of it. Many tasks were completed... And I'm being told from me in the future that's not the end of it. See Monday. Whoops! How silly to get my hopes up like that. So silly.
Very cold and nasty, like 7 degrees.
Brought parents food, then went shopping.
Dropped stuff off at home, went to Heather's house.
Then a slightly late game when I got back. No combat, no cards played, just us wandering around the town and talking to people. Our parents, the king, you know, as one does. Huh. What is this supposed to be, some kind of role playing game... Wait I'm being told that's exactly what it is.

Sat:
Did the driveway. It wasn't so bad, it was mostly blowing snow not falling snow yesterday but I figured if we got any more I would want to have it done. So I did it.
Checked sites.
Worked on the gift. The paint is somewhat disappointing but it'll do. Maybe it's the surface I'm using not the paint. I'll have to paint something else with it to really know. The gift almost didn't fit, that would have been embarrassing. But with a little work it's going to be fine.
Ripped more disks of Sean's.
Watched a little bit of stuff.
Left for Sean's.
Game was... interesting. Adam has joined us, and more people is always better right? But we did get closer to understanding what was going on. And now we're trapped on the other side and that's a problem.

Sun:
Pretty busy.
Checked sites to get that out of the way.
Wrapped the gift for my mother, so I'm all ready with that.
Did the paperwork from last month, not that there was very much. Let's keep those low numbers coming in.
Gathered up tax forms, visited all the various places I have money to get the 1099s and such. What a hassle. They all say "this information is being sent to the IRS" so why do I have to send it to them a second time? They should already know about it.
Watched Lower Decks. Had issue with some things like people fighting over "new" tricorders they should be able to replicate at the touch of a button, or forgetting synthehol is a thing apparently, but it was okay. Such stories would only work in an animated format though, I can see why they did it that way.
Then watched Peacemaker. I have the same issues with it that I had with other properties turning villians into heroes. Let them be villians, we have enough heroes to go around. And it was a bit rich, oh really the flash can't get somewhere in time to help? Or Superman? That's what we're going with?
Got ready for tomorrow. No calls, but I did get the battery. I didn't call her, can't come tomorrow anyway. Blood day for Tinker, he'll be so thrilled.

Mon:
Took Tinker in for having his blood drawn.
Then back the same way to work.
Don has clarified that he wants every device tested for everything not just that family of devices. So I guess I'm not done with eip fax, or add fax to copy pin, or any of them. Great. Just. Great. Put in the models I have done into the test task (busy work) to show hey, I've done this test 6 times or whatever doing it again is pointless, and got a visit from the installer guy. Thinks maybe it's failing because it's a server OS? Like that would really make a difference? Sure. I guess I'll set it up over here, there is the lab PC on this side I did add a local account to.
Kevin wants me to see if some stupid card reader works on a stupid old printer for some stupid reason. I set up equitrac which we can log into, so it works, but we can't get it to recognize any card reader. It beeps, so it's getting power and such. Christina couldn't figure it out either. Great. We can log in, so equitrac itself is working just fine. I hate these old DMP devices especially. They should be years out of support, why are we wasting my time trying to figure out if something works with them?
I set up the test for the installer and ran it. I specified the IP address in the install window and printed a test sheet. Got nothing. It used like the host name or some crap? But because it now can't reach any kind of DNS server to resolve the name that's pointless. I can't print. I again emailed my results which was a failure. Seems whoever is writing this didn't account for a lot of things. Using a server OS for example. Or, you know, using the IP address you're given for the port.

Went out to do the setup. Yuck, spinning rust. Pretty slow device. But the copy was done. Whoever did it just copied the whole user folder but then just left it there. Great job. I put everything where it should be and installed stuff for him.
Came back here, checked sites. Called battery lady, no answer.

Tues:
Good news was had by both. The person above Don said that only testing one machine of the two was fine. Whew. That knocks all that work back down and let's make sure it stays down with a couple of more whacks.

Had two meetings, the regular Joe meeting and a Gina meeting about bugs for a product I haven't tested yet. But as the plan is to have me take it over I guess it was worthwhile? Nah. It wasn't.

Made some cards for Joe.

Worked on the installer test a bit, whatever, they don't want to improve it so we're just saying the test is done.

So all in all a pretty busy day.

Came back here, checked sites. One call, battery lady she wants the 16th. She can have it.

Wed:
Busy today as well, we got a new version of the login app or whatever you want to call it. As I'm taking it over officially there was some argument about waiting until a more official build was created but I do need to get up to speed on it. So I started testing it in the afternoon. I didn't actually get to test it because I was busy writing up 8 bugs about the stupid login screen. Oh, you time out as an admin? Sucks to be you, it's hung forever now with a spinning circle. Time out as a regular user? Sucks for the next person, no one can ever log in again until you reboot. Oh, we can't follow a set of screens that are drawn up. Anyway, it's awful, and she's been testing this for awhile. So that was all fun.

The morning I actually spent testing the installer app for a second. Got on the windows 11 virtual, made my user, and did the one narrow test they want to narrowly define as it passing. Don't offer any other suggestions or criticisms, nothing will come of it. Fine, it does this one thing, it passes. Whatever.

What else did I do in the morning? I thought there was something but it's not coming to mind at the moment.

I had both a chili cup and a sandwich for lunch today. Living the high life now! Ham and cheese. Good stuff.

Went out to printer guy. I think it was complaining about the second tray? Stupid epsons. I took the tray out and boom, it was fine. His weather app came from the weather channel and I think it hasn't been updated in years. The front page doesn't work. And I made his browser window bigger. Woohoo!

Came back here, checked sites and had dinner. Did a little solo warframe while watching More News, just some easy stuff, trying to get more mutigen masses to make that last gun at the dojo.

Time for bed.

Thurs:
Fairly busy today as well. Started the day off finishing up on the test from yesterday. I was almost to the point I could begin the test, after all. Only wrote maybe two bugs? Not many. It'll be the usual mix of "we're not going to fix it" and "that's low priority." and the most fun "we'll change the visual spec to match what they've done." Sigh.

Meeting about that.

Then waited an hour until the onedrive meeting. Not getting anything this week, they think they can get us a finished product next week. We'll see.
Then the status meeting.
Plants. Dug ethernet cable and a monitor out of the scrap electronics box, and it was time to go.

Came back here, checked sites, had dinner.

No calls at first, but I got two at night. So great. One person's wife got scammed, and the other I walked through how to put thunderbird back but he still wants me to look at it. Look at what? You got it back. What am I even going over there for? So both of those are Saturday, so I basically have saturday booked up doing one thing or another.

So looks like tomorrow I'm not sure what I'll do, oh right Gina needs me to do yet another gabi test, the project that will never die. And I still haven't figured out why the DMP machine won't see the card reader. I guess I'll plug away at that too. I mean if some university somewhere wants to know if this card reader will work, just have them get one and try it.

Then shopping, seeing my parents. Game is on.
Then the same game as last week on Saturday. But it won't happen again for a bit. I'm interested to see how he gets us out of this.

Got some items in Warframe, still 500 needed. I'll just need to do that stage 50 times if I get an average of 10 of the things each time. Neat.

That's it. That's the second week. Squeeze your lover next week and try to stay warm. I'll see you in seven days time.
