2019-03-01:

Fri:

Got through scan to google. In French, anyway. Now I just need to repeat the same test, over and over, in both other languages. Sweet!

Updated the record of what we're doing to include all the languages, because you could write a bug for Spanish and not French so the totals might be different. This had the effect of growing the spreadsheet by almost 3x (because some do not need to be done in all three because they are not UI based) truly showing the impact of 1) not having unified code 2) adding all the languages when the software was never written with this in mind 3) How little of it were actually going to be able to do before the deadline.

Not much else exciting. Didn’t even get a donut or anything.

Saw my parents after I did the shopping, invited them over as no Sean on Saturday.

Brought stuff home, I did call the lady to make sure I knew where I was going tomorrow morning though. Honestly, for all her hemming and hawing about trying to explain it, she could have just said “it’s attached to Ethan Allen, it has its own door.” 10x simpler.

Went out again, we stayed on track pretty well, I suggested a worse disaster than Sean had thought of, costing us our only witness. Thankfully, he had blabbed to someone else what had happened, so we were able to get the same information from him. Seems we have a vampire that likes to break the rules to take care of.

Sat:

Went out to the mall place in the morning. Moved 2 PCs around, one is an ancient Dell XP machine, that same stupid XP dell model it seemed everyone and their brother had at the time. Honestly, did they give those stupid things away? It seems like it, I’ve seen so many of them. Anyway, ran a long Ethernet cable over to the other desk, I was going to go around the back of the room, but then noticed they had a cable going up and around the front of the room already. It was a telephone cable! So I used the same route. Done.

She complained the dell was slow. Ha. Yeah, it’s a PATA, 1GB RAM, Celeron based PC way, way, WAY past retirement age. Of course it’s slow!

Came back, cleaned up a bit for the parent’s arrival. Well, I would have done it anyway.

Watched videos, did some reading, did some Chrono Cross, and then watched The Last Unicorn. It was okay, though somewhat corny. Ah well, at least now I can wear the T-shirt Neil got me (uh, what two years ago now?) knowing what it’s about.

Windy tomorrow?

Sun:

Wind didn't start as early as they said, but it was here. Even the trash can blew over, and it was walled in pretty well I thought. I had already brought my little cart inside the garage, so I brought that in too. Many sticks down, and some people ultimately lost power, but I did not. When I went out to get the can I walked the back yard. The water is so high it became a sheet of ice. I mean the driveway I can see, but the yard? It's crazy.

Was thinking about the clone technique because I had given it to Lysainas, and recalled I never really finished Naruto. Given 500 episodes, can you blame me? Found a complete package of it, stripped out the filler, and set about finishing it. Took me all the rest of the day, but I did it. Even at 1.5x speed and cutting the beginning/end it was many episodes to get through. I did enjoy the last few, just them preparing for the wedding, it was a nice way to show how the “minor” characters were doing.

Now to start on the next season of Supernatural that Sean gave me.

Of course other incidental things were done, such as checking the sites, making food, cleaning the mice, that sort of thing.

Mon:

Fairly windy still on the drive in to work. Went to the meeting, some good news there. Don't have to do Spanish, yet. Only 2 languages, and English first. Yay? I guess we can just ignore the fact the languages was supposed to be the main thrust of what we were doing.

So I finished up English tests for the google service. Did the scanning, got the same results as before, no surprises there.

Dropped off the new router, another case of Spectrum deliberately turning off the wi-fi capability of their own equipment for "reasons" so I couldn't just unplug his ancient Linksys and use the router he already owned as part of his router. Thanks, Spectrum, you're the best! Or wait, what's the opposite of that?

Came back here, checked the sites, had a few calls. Made an appointment for Wednesday, but it's her son's machine and she had no clue so I have no idea what I'm walking into. Then was on the phone with CAD lady from yesterday for ANOTHER hour putting her crap back together after she spent the day destroying it by talking to spectrum.

The first half an hour resulted in me saying "take the cable out of the back of the printer, and put it into your laptop." What did she do? Took the cable out of the back of the router, and plugged it into the laptop. So now there was a cable running between a printer and a PC. Not what I asked you to do, lady!!!!!

I did finally get the first episode of Season 12 watched, Ellen called about an issue we've already solved, about her being in two page view in open office not one page so she thinks the pages have changed.

And now it's about bedtime. Yay.

Tues:

Fairly exciting today! HA HA fooled you.

No, I continued the test with Scan to Email, wrote 5 of the 9 bugs for today, and then did FAX (like it was 1999) in order to fulfill an info request on a bug that was cloned from another bug which was already closed- that I didn't even write. Yeah, that's a thing now I guess.

Anyway, I was able to successfully fax as I knew I would, because it was a one time issue solved by rebooting. So, yeah.

There wasn't really much else. Tomorrow I'll do the AT&T test for what I hope is the last time, then Thursday I'll take care of my resolved bugs, then Friday do the French scan to email and FAX. I think FAX will probably be quick, there can't be that much French can do to screw it up.

Came back here, one call which was just a question. Watched episode 2 of Season 12.

Did the usual sites, and played a little Chrono.

Supposed to be fairly nasty tomorrow. It was snowing earlier, but now it's dark so I can't tell.

Wed:

It was!

Switched gears today, went back to AT&T for the millionth time. No really, the audit log stuff I've now tested 16 times. Six. Teen.

Didn't find anything interesting, tested both the audit log and the remoteUI, no troubles there. Loaded the next build of the tablet stuff, so I can dive right into that tomorrow. The machine I wanted to test was in the room and on a wheeled platform so I just wheeled it over to my little office area and went to town. Worked out very well.

Went to the demo of the new features as well, didn't take long. Some dev stuff to make our lives easier may come, so we don't have to enter the root password three times in a row to get to the home screen.

Was snowing pretty hard and was nasty so I called the lady. Again offered to do the work remotely, again was refused. Why? I don't need to drive a half an hour to look at your machine. Honest. I can take it over from here. Sigh. So it should be better tomorrow, I'll go then.

York called, wanted the number of some lady who does peachtree that they said I got for them. Really? Don't think so, but okay. Couldn't really help.

Checked the sites, watched the next episode. Got ready for tomorrow, did some reading.

Thurs:

Got straight to work, checking my bugs, and then did the meeting. We're "behind" some arbitrary numbers made up by people that don't actually test so we're talking about ways to do less test to make the numbers work.

Because that's how software gets made. Really, really good software.

Oh, wrote 5 of the 9 bugs today. No big deal, barely an inconvenience.

We've decided not to do any foreign language testing at all, despite the fact that, whoops, our only new feature in this release is… *gasp* foreign languages. What?

Meanwhile, I looked over my 24 or so bugs and most of them were, in fact, fixed. Shocker.

Drove all the way out to wherever it was, passed many, many cars going the other way in a very long traffic jam. Neat. He had no problems with his machine, mbam took exactly 1 minute to do a scan, could have easily saved an hour of driving. Thanks dude.

Went home a roundabout way because 390 looked all snarled up from the bridge before I got on there. So I couldn't go back the way I came, and I couldn't go back the alternate route either. Neat!

Got back here, ate dinner, checked the sites.

2 calls, a man who had hidden his live mail toolbar and didn't know how to unhide it, and a person with "security software" or something? Naturally he could not articulate his issue because why should be able to do that? So that's 10:00 Saturday, yay.

More reading was done, getting ready for tomorrow. There will be Seanage, is that a word?

Looking to the future tomorrow I'll start my next service, Scan to OneDrive. Oh, and here's a fun little bit for you. We have our initials on the services we're testing. My name is beside 5 services, 4 if you count the French I already did as 1. My next closest "competitor" has… 2. And I gave up a day testing to do AT&T stuff. It's no wonder we're "behind" when it seems 1/4 of the team is forced to do x2 the work of everyone else!

But it's fine, no worries, I'll just keep plugging along. We are getting pizza, as a thank you because our Kiosk (version 4) started shipping. Bugs and all. Go us.

Future: More testing tomorrow, followed by well not the bank there's no point, but shopping, getting gas, and seeing my parents.

Then over to Sean's for more dealing with this rogue vampire. It does interest me that in the "real world" typically officers don't really like ordinary citizens taking "the law" into their own hands. The thing a normal person would do having learned about this rose tattooed gang would be to call some kind of tip line and let the police do their jobs. Seriously, we do anything against this vampire and his goons just firebomb our houses, that's why we have officers. (when they are not stealing from people, planting evidence, etc.) But no, our little group of heroes will rush to do just that, stick our noses in and potentially get killed.

Very weird.

Saturday is one job so far, and of course I'll invite my parents over for a movie.

More reading because I still have 3.5 books to get through before I can write the next one in the world I'm sending Lysanias to. Egwene can split her weaves "14 ways" though the math is a little wonkey in what I just read. And that was with her ability with the One Power muted with drugs. The way I've set it up you need your full strength to split weaves so it must be something else. But what? A stat? Twice a stat, as she can't have a 14 anything? I mean I suppose she could, paragon exist so she could have a 14 RESolve. I'll have to think about it.

Anyway, that's the end of Feblueberry and onto Marsh so I hope you're all staying warm out there. Get your taxes in, that's what I have to do Sunday, send in my collected taxes. Yay.
