2014-05-08:

Mouse was dead in the morning. Sorry, mouse.

Day went okay. Morning one didn't have much wrong, but was an ancient XP machine. I answered his questions and did what I could, so at least he's in the best shape he can be.

Came back here. Worked on character sheets, figured out why my inkscape window (really any X11 window) would drop focus. Geektool, of all things! Some polling thing, I guess? I have no idea. Upshot is I have to disable that while X11 is active. No big deal.

Then at three to see about why iOS wasn't always printing to her printer. I put it on manual IP address, checked to make sure it was printing, took care of some spyware on her PC that was annoying me, checked her extender. Then went to visit my parents, which was a short one as they were out the door just as I got there.

Came back here. Finished gluing Mizzy's gift together. There's one tiny part I hope holds. Had to tape it in place for the moment so it would stay there to dry.

Did a little more game work, making some live code stacks to help keep track of various things.

Two jobs tomorrow, so this was much better then last week, let me tell you.

Game also, but no time has been discussed. Sean wasn't sure how he would be feeling, as he may be coming down with a cold. Feel better!

Sat:

Today went fine, the two appointments producing only minimal anguish. The first, in the morning, was a website that had to be put into IE "Legacy" mode because web programmers are idiots who code for specific versions of products instead of standards.

The second was the only person I've ever spoken to who wished to delete a Facebook account. He also needed his mail passwords, and I went over his machine. Took out his ancient Norton that hadn't updated in 4 years (or so it seemed. The program itself wouldn't tell me what the version of the database was, but when I looked at the window of what viruses it could scan for, it showed a 2010 date.) Came back here, worked on more info and such for the combo game, then went to the Wanders game. Got through the fight with the Zephyr lady who gave us a little info on what we were doing there, and got into the next world which seems pretty interesting.

Sun:

Took it easy. Cleaned up some things on my Mac, puttered around the house, not much going on today, which I feel guilty about? Sigh.

Worked out how much I wanted to charge the book guy for some copies of his book. I figured as staples charges .025 cents a page for b/w I would charge him .015 cents a page. Three copies, 300 pages, $13.50. He wrote me back complaining it was more then he expected, I had charged him "only" $5.00 a copy last time.

I wrote back and told him 13.50/3 = $4.50. A .50 savings per copy over the last time I did it, and how odd it was to be complaining about being charged less.

Honestly, what is wrong with people?

He later wrote me back to say he misunderstood, thinking it was $13 a copy, rather then 4.50. Good try.

My Buddy wanted me to come Wednesday to take his computer back. No can do, Buddy, I'm taking squeaker in for his cleaning at 7:45 (ugh) and then I'm going to the dentist at 10:30.

He "won't have the money for laundry" until he gets the money back for the PC. Uh, what? First off, that money is going to take some time to come back, like 24 hours, and if you're broke after that purchase, maybe you shouldn't have been making the purchase? Especially as it didn't have wireless and was thus worthless.

Super busy tomorrow, 5 places to go?!?!?

Mon:

Went shopping first thing, as usual. The bank teller who had her babies in the storm is back. She was in good spirits, so it's good to see she's doing well.

Got my check from the recycling people I sent my circuit boards to. $31.00. Better then a box of circuit boards, I guess.

Then left for my very, very long afternoon at 11:20.

At least, that what I thought I was going to be doing. Not so much. It was the lawyers place, and I said to myself, even as I started my car: "Self, whenever you go down there, more then half the time it's 'oh, it's fine now' so maybe you should call them."

So I saved myself the trip, 20 minutes of driving, and some aggravation.

So I tried the computer drop of guy, but he didn't answer.

So I had a different aggravation, I did paperwork.

Actually made more again then April of last year. Odd. April in 2013 must have been really bad.

So my 1:00 went fine, took out the spyware programs, ran mbam, it was a fairly new machine, it didn't take long.

My 3:00 also was quite short, she just had a few questions about things.

So I made the changes from my latest read over of book 4, made a new epub file, and kept on reading No One To Blame.

Got to the end, now I just have to start writing again and finish it.

Went to my 5:00, setting up two machine, sorta. They were both purchased used, so I had to clean them off. One was a Win8 machine, didn't expect to see them used, yet.

Then dropped off the vista machine I had been fighting with last week.

So all in all the day went pretty well. It could have been a lot worse.

Two for tomorrow, then taking Squeaker in for blood work, then heading to the ABC sale.

Oh yeah, where is that thing?

Tues:

Bit of running around today.

Did the morning one a bit early, as he called to say he had a dentist appointment in the morning. Nothing serious, just figuring some things out for him.

Came back here, ate lunch, then went out again for another pretty easy one. Oddly gmail wouldn't load in firefox, it would just get sort of stuck on that little bar that goes across. I had to uninstall it and reload the whole thing to get it working.

Got back with plenty of time to spare to take Squeaker in to get his blood work done, so tomorrow can proceed normally. Looking forward to getting up early! (lie)

Then went to the sale, got a few things to hopefully improve everything about everything.

Didn't get called by My Buddy today! Wow.

Worked on what the next 13 chapters should be in the book. Had to go to bed pretty early so didn't get too far. I did figure out a slight story change which I hope will make the book more interesting in the second half.

Wed:

Yay, I need a crown on one my teeth! How does decay start under a filling? Right, because they're microscopic, I suppose. So that procedure begins a week from today. Plus, it's the new white filling that's having the problem. We just did those! Was it done improperly? Who do I sue about this?

Plus Squeaker had to had a tooth removed, somehow the enamel was gone on it. He's only 6! So with the cleaning, x-rays, cat, and crown this month so far has run me about $1600.

Good thing I didn't want to put $400 a month for the next 4 months into my retirement account! Oh wait, I did.

Can I somehow deduct all of this from my taxes as though I had done this, though?

Continued work on the chapter summary so I know what I'm writing.

No calls today?

Got Squeaker at 4:30, he'll be glad this is the last visit for a while, he's been going all over the place lately.

He acted like he had never eaten before. Sheesh, you only missed one meal, cat. He had fun with the new dry food dispenser, knocking all the food out of the dish. I'll maybe try it again when he's not hopped up on pain pills. 1/4 of a pill every 8-12 hours. That's some good stuff, apparently.

Finished writing out the chapter summaries, and finished chapter 11, the date! Whew. Do you know I started this book 8/9/12 apparently? That's almost two years ago. I really need to finish it.

Got some work for tomorrow, and one for Friday as well. That'll help pay off that tooth.

Thurs:

Went to take My Buddy's machine back, at staples the guy said he used a prepaid card? Huh? He said he remembered Buddy and didn't think it was, so they just put it back through.

Then went to do my actual job, a machine that was pretty slow. Figured at first it was the HD, as the processor wasn't doing anything and it had 2GB of RAM, plenty for an XP machine.

Turned out it was the backup drive being dead that was causing it. I tried opening it but it gave me an error. As soon as I unplugged it, blam, the speed increased. Marvelous design.

Came back here, wrote some. Finished chapter 12 and started chapter 13.

Wrapped mom's mother day gift.

Called a person at 6:00, spent an hour getting them straight. The first 15-20 minutes was just trying to get them to install VNC. After I was in control everything went fine.

Then made a few calls, actually have two jobs tomorrow.

No info on game this week, Sean is probably not feeling well.

No work for Saturday, but I still have one person to reach, so I'll probably call them at some point.

And that's about it. At least it might be 80 tomorrow, maybe my heat will stop coming on.

See you all next week.

Almost forgot, this is what I was working on for Mizzy's birthday. 3D printed and then painted, by me.

[[image file="2014-05/mizzys2014bdaygift.jpg" alt="Turret" ]]

Gibberish for this week:

I've everythings.

Turned out when I looked at thing I did it, blam, then at 6:00, spent account. He wrote back here. Worked one person to reach, so they just put it but really as it didn't get called to go?!?!

Went to take My Buddy today?

Got my part I hopefully improve everythings! Some polling them straight. They were out them used a crown this was a fairly needed his questions about ever eaten before. She was a Win8 machine I had to get his book 8/9/12 apparents, which I was in the best s
