2019-03-22:

Fri:

Quite boring at work, I did the usual "go though the document that shows what every screen is supposed to look like and compare to what the screen actually looks like." Wrote many bugs I hadn't yet where they were different. Might as well.

Then out to do the usual stuff. Went to get cat food, saw the new chicks and ducks. Oddly they're in a cage now, they never used to be. Were people trying to put them in pockets or something?

Dropped stuff off, found that my parent's freezer door was open, closed it.

Then out to Sean's. Was only 15 minutes off my estimate but Jon couldn't arrive until my usual late time of 7:00 so that was a bit of a sigh. Took delivery of my new phone, Neil paid for part of it. Thanks, Neil!

Stayed on track quite well, got to the safe area and they saw the general but their questions will have to wait until next time.

Sat:

Finished setting up the phone. Most of the apps I use aren't available anymore. Sweet. Including my tetris attack clone that is going to be hard to replace, I looked but there doesn't seem to be a good alternative. Ah well.

Oh and Sailor Moon Drops is dying on the 28th. AARG. Not that I played it that much, but still. Stop writing apps that depend on external servers, will you?

Couldn't figure out how to put my contact information on the lock screen so I made my own wallpaper for it.

Watched my videos and checked my daily sites, then had lunch.

Yes, I got up late what do you want from me?

Did more reading, actually read until it was time to go.

Had a nice birthday dinner with my family, thank you all for the nice gifts. Got to see Gabe too, he's still out there doing his free cat thing.

Came back here, watched a few animated moves and went to bed.

Sun:

I did many things today, here's a list!

Ate cake. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have led with that one.

Did more reading.

Worked on my character and wrote up the info on the organization we can work for in the monster game.

Cleaned a bit.

Put my gifts away and changed more light bulbs. The CF bulbs are slowly going away!

Played some Chrono Cross.

Glorious.

Tried to set up the FF7 graphic mod I've had sitting there for a month or two. Doesn't seem to have worked. Sigh.

Did more reading.

Time for bed.

Mon:

Did another set of test cases today, didn't need to wait to get the unencrypted version of the package, we always get it. It just isn't always uploaded by our intrepid band of adventurers every time. No problem. We had the meeting, and I got to work. Only wrote up one thing, what a disappointment.

Got my first unsolicited call on the new phone. Oddly, it seems to be from Parkway Electric in canandaigua NY. Could it be for the previous owner of this phone? It must be, right?

Otherwise just poking it, the test I ran was very short, it was about the package anyway not the software.

Came back here, checked my sites as usual. Ate dinner. Watched Unbreakable that Sean gave me.

A few phone calls today for some odd reason. A man with a broken mouse, someone wanting 2 minutes of work done taking data off a laptop and an iPad, a guy who needed firefox told that yes, foxit reader existed, and the person who needs a printer set up that's a half hour away. Yay. That one is Wednesday.

Set up Squeaker's appointment, downloaded a pretty slick pet app, it has all of my guy's history in it. Medications, schedule of what they've had done, I can book appointments through it. Neat.

Put in a change or two on the optional rules.

Did more reading and went to bed.

Tues:

Heading downhill fast, I fear. Quite boring today, I really need to get those books read so I can do writing… I mean I don't do writing at work.

I suppose I could go back to that other book I was working on. Huh.

Anyway, poke, poke, poke, that's all I did. Wrote one bug, something minor I'm sure.

Oh, we did lose a bunch of people today. Yeah, more layoffs. Wait, I hear you thinking, didn't we just have layoffs? Yes, yes we did. You're right. But apparently we can have a few more. And not just those, we're moving a lot of people to HCL (for "reasons") so that HCL can lay them off later, but then it wasn't us doing it. Neat! I thought we were doing okay, is our current CEO trying to run us into the ground by just throwing us all away? It doesn't make sense.

In other things that don't make sense, I went to wipe out data from machines. It should have been easy. It was easy, the iPad was already wiped. The laptop wouldn't boot so I just tore the HD out of it.

But then there's the crappy airport extreme box. Oh, how I hate these stupid things. Hate. Hate. Hate. And Hate a forth time. I couldn't work with it because the machines were too new. "Too new?" you ask? What does that mean? Well, the stupid airport utility would find it, but then refuse to work with it until I updated the firmware. Did it helpfully offer to update the firmware?

NO IT DID NOT.

I couldn't connect the iPad, my iPhone, or the laptop to it. What the heck, Apple? How did I solve it? Bring it home and install the airport utility on my PC. Yes, let that sink in for a moment. I used a PC to update the firmware on an Apple branded product so that my OTHER Apple branded products would work with it. Are you listening to this, Apple? Are you seeing how screwed up this is? Of course, if I knew I could do that I could have used the PC I had with me, but who thinks about using a PC with a stupid airport device? Not this guy!

Back here I ate dinner, made a call and worked with a guy for 45 minutes to see if some odd website was a scam (it could be) and didn't reach the other person. Checked the sites, did the stupid PC thing, and it was 9:00. Not enough time to watch Split.

Wed:

Had a mission today so things went fairly quickly. First of course I had to do the update to the latest version. With that done it was the usual mission of making sure the bugs I had written were fixed. Most of them were. Amazing. Of course there were only 20 of them today not 40 like last week. I guess you can't ask for that all the time.

Wrote up some new stuff too, went over the screenshots and movies I did many weeks ago at this point she's finally getting them to the translation team. Glad I worked so hard on getting them for you right away.

And then went back to doing the poking. Tomorrow, I have no idea. Meetings that's for sure.

We're losing John to his hand surgery soon, plus Christina is out for vacation next week, so it may be interesting if new stuff comes in.

Went out to set up the printer, no issues, but really HP you're not even including a CD anymore? I have to download the software? For shame. Really. Took longer to drive there and back then do the job. At least there wasn't much traffic.

Got back here, checked my sites. Ate dinner.

My old phone is disabled, made sure all my old contacts and messages are off it, though it won't do much more than make 911 calls at this point. And once December rolls around, will it do even that much?

Talked to a guy about his deleted items folder. He's had a computer at least 15 years, why am I telling you basic computer skills? Doesn't make sense.

Didn't reach the lady from yesterday.

Thurs:

As expected, meetings were the highlight of the time at work. Even had a bonus one, about the caveat list for 1.3. It's not very long. Really, nothing of note today.

Dropped off the router, it had copyright 2006 on the bottom. Sheesh, it's older than I thought. Why did she get another one anyway? Weird.

Came back here, did the usual thursday stuff like the dishes and eating dinner. Checked my sites, got ready for tomorrow.

Some shenanigans trying to put the noco card into the noco app, still not sure if it's in there or not.

No Sean message and we knew Jon was out this week so that's not much of a surprise, honestly. Ellen says her computer was "confiscated" whatever that means, so I'm going over there with the all in one for her to borrow Saturday at 3:00. Just in case Sean wants to do something at 4:30 as usual. Otherwise I'll have my Fam over to watch a movie. So there.

So tomorrow, the usual poking at things, getting food, no bank, then seeing my parents.

Going to be nasty, rain and snow by the looks, so that'll be fun. Looking forward to it.

Finishing up today with some reading, next week is about the end of March, hope it's been good for everyone. See you all this same time then!
