2020-06-25:

Fri:
CoLA all day. Didn't get through it, not for lack of trying. There's a lot of things going on with it so at least the first test has to be pretty long. Subsequent tests will be shorter, we'll just make sure the app functions right rather than trying to test every little thing. I mean it's the same app, after all. Wrote some stuff up, 8 bugs total to be exact.
Saw my parents.
The pour didn't go well, there's a huge divot on top. Crud.
Did game. Got through the combat, by not doing half of it. They gave up, and we let them run away. Our elf friend later tracked them down and took care of them, so much for showing mercy. We found another magical orb, but we don't know what it does yet. We're heading to a ruin and then south to town, we'll see what happens. Saved the villagers, at least the live ones.
Had a bit of trouble with the halfway point of the next item. Was not sticky enough. Basically I waited too long, so what I was trying to put in there was just moving all over the place. But I got it to work I think. Future me will have an easier time, I'll pour, make sure to wait only a few hours so it's not totally set up yet, and do the placement then. I'm learning!

Sat:

Poured the top of the last one, it didn't work out. All sticky and not at all like resin. More like jelly. At least it cleaned up nice and I could try again.
Poured the next one, for all the trouble I had last night, it looked good in the morning. Let's hope the top meshes will with the bottom and I don't get a divot. I tried to overpour but I ran out, mixed a little more, and overpoured, then waited, it went down a bit, so I stuck some more in there. We'll see. I think the plan going forward will be to mix too much, pour, wait an hour, then as it's still liquid enough to pour see if there's space at the top. If so, put some more in, if not, just dump the extra into the other mold and you should be set. That's what I'm trying with the next one.
I mean it doesn't look like it's seeping into the edges of the mold all that much, but maybe there's just more air in it than I think? Why would it compres that much as it hardens? It's odd.
Planted the seedlings. Hope you live little ones!
Checked sites.
Wrote the journal entry for the game.
Ordered a refill of Oliver's meds, as my pharmacy keeps nagging me that medicine stocks are at an all time low.
Started getting RG&E bills again! Yay! I owe... $250. Sheesh.
Watched a movie while I cleaned off Neil's gift. I don't think they cleaned up like the video showed. Sigh.
A laptop got dropped off, so I copied her old data over to it.

Dad came over, watched two movies and had dinner, and he looked at my sink. Thanks dad.
After that we played some Gears. Not dad and I, I mean Sean and Mizzy.

Sun:
The latest gift is perfect, apart from the plug on the divot not setting up. It's still tacky and viscus. Super. The one that looks the best and it's still the worst. I can probably dig it out and try again, but it's annoying it happened at all. It's weird. It cleaned up exactly like the tutorials said, so are the other colors just too dark, did the pour get cloudy, or did I do something else wrong? If they all looked like this one (color wise) they would be perefct. But they're too dark. I mean I could 3D print the middles again and try another pour but I only used 1 drop of color per batch. Weird. The one I didn't even use color in, so how it got cloudy I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't reuse the cups so much...
I give them a good cleaning after each time, but maybe there's just a buildup of something and that makes them go wrong. Odd though, you would have thought the first one I did and this one would be similar in that reguard because the cups were clean for the first one, they had never been used. So weird.
Poured the next one, hopefully it comes out okay. I did the plan of pouring some of the resin I saved into the top, hopefully no divot this time.
Watched some movies. Including the Super Mario Brothers movie, many, many years late.
Watered my spouts, they survived the night at least.
Lady for the laptop came.

Dug the sticky mess out of the divot. Guess I'll try it again. It's so perfect otherwise! Aarg!
Got ready for tomorrow.
Mon:
Took the latest out of the mold. It's perfect as well! I think that's the final technique. Glad I figured it out with only one to go.

  1. Basically you mix up enough to do half the mold, and pour it in.
  2. Wait four hours or so, depending on size of mold, for it to be solid, but not so solid you can't push a little something into it so it sticks. That way it doesn't go all over the place when you pour more stuff on the top of it.
  3. Now mix more than you think you need. Pour it into the top.
  4. Wait an hour for it to settle and pour more into the top than you think is needed. Far easier to file and sand down than to pour a little bit more in the top later.
  5. Wait. Done.
More scan to home work done today. Focused on that pretty much all day. A few more bugs written up.
It's what I do. I got through the test on one device, hopefully subsequent devices will go quicker.

Came back here, it rained so my little sprouts should be happy. The latest pour came out perfect, just need to sand down the nubbin.
Did step 1 of the process I'll have just enough time for step 2 before the game tonight.

Checked sites, ate dinner.
We actually watched a movie together, but I had to host it. Oddly.

Tues:
Did another model for the scan to home test. Went fine, the versalink product does act a little differently as compared to the altalink but not so much so that I didn't have to write ten new bugs. Maybe 5? Some number of them, anyway.

That took the whole day, and I'll be back at it again tomorrow. Nothing new with the hand wash or the voice system so...

Delivered the PC to the lady, which was super easy as her hard drive was dead. Nothing to copy over! And got her google account into the tablet instead of her late husband's.

Came back here, checked sites and ate dinner.

Ordered Oliver's medicine as they've been nagging me it'll take longer than usual. $100. Ugh. But it's less than once a year so it's fine.

Started the next pour, using the "wait a bit and fill it in with some extra" method that worked with the one. Oh, and the divot got filled in on the other so basically at this point 3 are perfect, 4 are... less than ideal. I'm out of stuff and would have to do more 3D printing to try them again. I could do so. I probably will do so. So there.

Got ready for tomorrow and at 7:30 (ish) did some Gears of War with the crew.

Wed:
Another model of versalink falls so we're (hopefully) two models closer to being done. Even got a few bug fixes (very few) that I tested. I say hopefully because Christina should have done a model as well. Nothing really new found, just more of the old. That's good in a way.

Reloaded my usda machine, somewhat unnecessarily in my opinion but he wanted it done. Hey look the problem is still there. What a shock.
We had a meeting with them, maybe we'll get something new to test Friday. But will it be on the official hardware? I mean we need the whole package, right?

Bought more sandpaper and resin stuff on the way home. I have all the gifts made, the green turned out okay with just a slight divot on the top still, somehow, but I have other projects in mind. And I think I'll try to redo some of the others, just to see what happens. Now that I see how clear they can be, the others don't look all that good.

But not tonight. One call, and I got ready for bed so we could do more Gears. Then made the call. He was just having trouble because a .pdf he was downloading didn't have .pdf on the end, so windows didn't know what to do with it. I showed him how to add it.

Thurs:
Another machine falls, and a few more bugs written I don't know how escaped my gaze beforehand. Weird. Had the Joe meeting sans Joe as it's his off week. It was late because his replacement forgot to start the meeting. Had a meeting about an upcoming test, but it seems it won't happen for like a month. The normal Thursday meeting, and watering the plants as always. Found another nice thank you note from someone who took their plants home. A few plants have vanished, I guess their owners finally came to get them. Still don't see any more people though. John was in the lab two days this week, but it was back to just us two after that.

One more machine to go, that should complete my part of the test. Maybe start USDA back up again if we get the build early enough tomorrow. Next week for sure. Then another minor thing came in we'll deal with. We'll need to write some test cases though, it shouldn't be too bad. Either test seems fairly short.

Car hit 55555 miles today. Should be good for another 50,000 right?

And so it ends. Went to do the shopping, which I actually remembered to bring a list for this week.
Still need to figure out what kind of polish is best before I buy anything. This bottle of spray wax I found in the yard isn't doing me any good. Either that or I didn't sand enough, and I sanded and sanded these things.

Let's see, getting gas tomorrow I dipped below half a tank today and seeing my parents. Then we'll do the magical orbs game.

Nothing on tap for Saturday, the new game won't start until next week at the earliest. I'll have my parents over, I have lots of movies to show them!

Otherwise, hopefully should be quiet. I'll probably cut the back lawn. I'll have a day off again next Friday, that should be nice. Some people are taking this Friday off as well, must be nice.

So that's it. Happy summer, as that's a thing now. Don't blink, you'll miss it. Ripen my little berries, ripen that you may be shoved into yummy pies!

See you next week everyone.
