2018-12-14:

Fri:

Did more of of the same at work, which is to say a bit of work and a lot of… more… work.

Not finishing up that stupid book guy book. No. Certainly not that. I certainly didn't take it from over 700 pages to less than 450. I was actually surprised, the index had gotten messed up so it showed the 700 pages but I got to the end and it was one index entry per page, so I had finished and didn't realize it.

Nice.

Put in the latest ones from the blog. And left.

Went shopping, the bank, again the usual stuff for a Friday.

Got home late but just had a call from York, apparently one other account needs the email settings modified. Sigh.

Worked on making the index. It's working, but it doesn't look very good.

Sat:

Finished the index, so I'm finally done with the freaking thing. Or not, because last night there was an entry for the 8th, which I put in. (it's the 7th)

This morning there was ANOTHER entry for the 8th. What, does the man just sit there and do nothing but blog posts? You think he would be better at. Honestly, the number of spelling, grammar, and flat out punctuation mistakes was astonishing. I doubt I got them all. Just doing the index I found a few places he had "the the" so there's probably more like that in there. If you do nothing but this, you would think he would be better at it.

Like he somehow used different dashes, so English - French wasn't the same as English French. Sometimes he put SOUNDS and sometimes SOUND. I saw "more X that sounds Y" and "more X that sound like Y" there's *absolutely no consistency.*

I am glad it's over. Forever. I'll just add in the new entries and whatever is above, that's your mess.

Anyway, I decided on Sunday as the day to "collect" the entries and add them. Much easier to run the "macro" that turns his crappy "formatting" into real tables on a week's worth than doing it every day.

Checked my sites, then worked on magic lists for the game.

That took until 4:00 in the afternoon. Whoops, I forgot to call York. My bad.

Watched some movies and went to bed.

Sun:

Day went very quickly as I got a lot of things done for future me to not have to worry about.

Started the day off well sleeping to be honest but let's move on to the awake portion of the day. I'm awake now. Let's make candy.

So I did that, then balanced the checkbook.

I put in the latest Book guy entries, how does he do so many in just two days? AARRGG. But that's fine, I made a macro that turns his cruddy mix of eclipses and periods into a single period so it can be made into a table.

Made my christmas "questions" while listening to Christmas music. Only two weeks!

Oliver is much calmer now about taking his medicine, and he didn't have an attack today that I saw, so maybe it's working?

Watched videos, checked my sites, I don't know it doesn't seem like I did that much does it? But the day still went super fast. I was watching a long video about all the bizarre choices they made for the new fantastic beasts movie.

Spoke too soon, of course. He had an attack tonight. Sigh.

Made the mac and cheese for tomorrow's little office party. It's just party, party, party around here!

Got ready for tomorrow otherwise.

Helped a lady for half an hour set up a new gmail account.

Mon:

Somewhat blah day all around, with one or two exceptions.

Got in to work and started in on finishing the one machine's remoteUI testing. It was fine. Went to the meeting for tablet stuff, not much tablet stuff to do but we do need some new test cases. Get on that you guys, don't see why I have to do it all the time.

Then went to the holiday party inside the building, as opposed to the one outside the building. Er, no one from my "circle" showed up. I mean is Ted in my circle? Not really. No tablet folks, no Chris, I mean there were people there I knew, that I see around, but not actually work with.

Oh, and I remembered the food this time! Yay! But I did forget a spoon. The lab had one, it was fine.

After that upgraded another machine and ran the remoteUI test on it. I'll finish up the other tests on it tomorrow, won't take long.

Had a crazy idea for the tower game, changed one of the items to something else. Far more useful, mysterious, and powerful. (To a certain extent)

Got back, checked the sites and gave Oliver his medicine.

Had 3 calls, talked to the York lady for half an hour about changing her email settings. Somehow the checkbox she swore she unchecked was checked again. Sure, you unchecked it. Suuuuure.

Then the two others. One setup for Thursday, why she didn't have me get her a new laptop I have no clue it's probably a piece of junk. And one tomorrow way up north that seems to have a dead drive. We'll see.

Worked on the skill tree for the orbs, so cool.

The markets were up. Super! Why did I still lose $65? Odd.

Tues:

More of the same I'm sad to report, though I did talk to Mitch about my MAME cabinet, of all things.

Finished up another model, so that's 5 models of machine I've tested with this software. I'll keep going I guess.

Worked on refining the objects for the game and figuring out what puzzle rooms I still needed to make.

No meetings. But it is two weeks exactly until Christmas. Let that soak in. It's about 20 days left until 2019.

With an email for "up to" $14,500 saved on a Nissan LEAF I looked into it. Only gets about half the range of the Dart. Trouble is, with how fuel efficient my vehicle is the savings wouldn't actually work out to be that much. Weird. Ah well, maybe in another 5 years my next car will be totally electric. There are some benefits, and with almost 300 mile range on the Dart, it's looking better than ever.

Went out to see the guy off Lake. His HD was indeed dead, one just had to listen to it grinding away trying to spin to tell that. Sorry. The digits have rubbed off the sticker on the bottom so reloading Win7 would be impossible. It wasn't taken to win10. I think I have some serial numbers for 7, if he wanted to go that way. They were going to talk it over.

No call about it tonight.

I did have one call, she wants her router set up so I agreed to sunday. *shudder*

Snowing pretty hard, driving was yuck.

Finished the trap rooms for the game once I got home, as well as the usual video watching and site visiting.

Only lost $13 in the markets today, is the rate of loss slowing at last? Perhaps a bit of a climb is in the future?

Wed:

Do I have anything at all interesting to tell you about work? No, no I do not.

I did yet another model of machine, though I actually started on one, then came back from lunch to find it being upgraded in my absence. Apparently someone decided they needed that machine specifically and as I "technically" hadn't "signed it out" they did so (despite it being signed out for 1.2 testing anyway not that it had been used for that) and I had to find another machine. So I took another machine. It's the same family but a different file. Should I check every file even across families? I don't know, it's boring enough doing this over and over (and over).

And I'm downloading some of Season 2 of Ladybug at 10MB per second. I truly am living in the modern age.

Sorry, got distracted there.

One week from tomorrow is my last day for 6 days, looking forward to it. Hope I make it.

Tomorrow is meeting day, but at least I can report another 3 models done. 3.5 by that time, if I can find a free machine, that is.

Figured out the laser puzzle a little.

Tweaked the shard object for the game, it was pretty weak and so I made it a little more interesting. I don't think I have any "duds" now they're all something I might want to play with myself. Still, it's up to them to use the powers I give them with responsibility. (like that'll happen)

11.5MB, nice, but still far from the max.

Not much in the evening, either. I was re-reading Grrl Power looking for Orb lore but as she only has gotten like three "points" they are far between. It was for my curiosity alone. Ah well.

Helped a guy take lots of extensions out of his browser though, that's something right?

Anyway, meetings tomorrow and setting up the new laptop for the lady.

Thurs:

Or not so much. In fact, 50% as much as the morning was was canceled. Good thing, it gave me more time to do the same test on yet another machine.

But the good news is, the bossman thinks 7 machines is good enough and finally called a halt to the whole thing. It's only 3 days until we send it away anyway, so it's not that great.

So I guess it's back to tablet stuff tomorrow and into next week. Only 5 work days to go before I'm off for 6 days.

Got my next paycheck. Still didn't have federal or state withholdings. My other, other boss told me to call payroll directly. Guess I'll do that tomorrow.

What else? Certainly didn't revamp the toys a little, I needed to put the planet the spells was in as a courtesy to those rolling it. So I did that.

Came up with a bunch of questions for Sean too, about you know what.

Went over to set up the laptop, her house is still a disaster zone it's been years she's still blaming "contractors" or some such. Whatever.

Came back here, one call, got back to him.

So looking into the future, tomorrow is the usual after work, buying foodstuffs and no bank, not enough checks. Then nothing for Saturday at the moment but running the game, which I'm quite excited about. I am going out to see about any more gifts for the game, but that's about it.

Then one for Sunday.

Still lost $40 in the markets today.

And my money hasn't shown up in my 401k yet. Maybe it's not actually deposited until tomorrow I just got the form today? Could be, could be.

Not much else super exciting to talk about, so I guess that's it for this week.

See you next week.
