2011-02-20:

*singing* And I did it... my way

So, yeah, with our wonderful 50 degree friday in which I worked on the comic helper, (more to follow) with sun and everything, I didn't get the solar panel until I came back home. In fact, I passed the fedex truck on the out  down the street. Anyway, after that we got the 20s again and bitterness and snow and all that makes winter so nice around here so we didn't do anything with the engine yesterday.

But today? Today with a bit of sunshine? Yes, today I dragged it out, mounted the solar panel and top and the fans spun. And moments later, warm air came out. Then still later, HOT air came out. I'm pretty excited. I mean, sure, on one hand someone would say "okay, you built a box with some black tubes in it." Sure, I get that. But I built a box with some black tubes in it, from an idea I read about a company makes $3000 per unit selling, a handful of youtube videos and some halfway done web sites. And I made it work. Which I think is pretty amazing. One concern is how the shadows from the trees will effect both fan and heat performance. Because I was expecting a lot more volume of air out the hose. Still, we'll see. Still, it was about 40 degrees today in the breezeway where my thermometer lives, and at least 95 degree air was coming out the engine. Not too shabby. One wonders, this coming summer, if I couldn't rig something that takes air from the basement, already above freezing, pumping that through, and then back into the house. There is a window right there, I could build some kind of enclosure/pipe to get the air into it. But fresh air in is good too, so I'm not sure. We'll have to see how it works in actual practice, to see if that's justified or not.

Anyway, work continues on the comic helper, both Friday and Saturday. You can now put things on the page, move them, select more then one of them, drag across them to select more then one of them, unselect them, and move more then one while selected. All rather "mundane" features but someone has to code them, and they didn't exist in the first version. You could only move one thing at at time, which was a pain at times. So that's good.

Friday I did go to see Grandma, and then to the movie. Harry Potter was good, after all, the source was good, and the other movies were decent. Part one. *rolls eyes* I guess it was a long book.

Then Saturday, to my first job, just dropping off Office and her backup drive. Worked on the comic maker then she called again and said something bad happened. Good thing she just lives a few minutes away, so I went back. Then cursing out the weather, it was crappy out there! Then more programming. Playing of Halo 2, then to my 6:00. Odd that the one Saturday night I don't go to Sean's I get a job request. I love it, "I can be there Friday or Saturday at 6:00, or we'll have to wait until monday." Like I didn't have better things to do on a... well, okay, I don't, but I'm not normal. Is there any other person on earth that would say, "sure, I'd be happy to come at 6:00 PM on a saturday night"? Would you have? Didn't think so. For her to even suggest it, I don't know, seems like are you really asking me this?

Then today, the panel work of course, winning Halo 2, cleaning. Seven calls total so far, so I should have some work for tomorrow. Shopping, as usual. No library yet, still working on the last Star Trek book, playing Pokemon (first Red and now Black) has slowed that down. Whoops. The new pokemon are rubbing off on me. I wasn't too fond of the starters, but Chrononeko (literally time-cat) is neat, he's the Miruku* (scroll to the bottom) of the Pokemon world, having the "assist" ability, he can use a random move known by any other Pokemon in the party. And I just caught a unicorn with a horn shaped like a lighting bolt. The little girl inside me is squealing for joy. No, I didn't just eat a little girl, you know what I mean!

Wow, the last week of February. Only twenty one days left on the 21st of Feb until it happens. I have a list, would you like it? heheheh. You know what I'm talking about.

Hope Mizzy isn't going mad studying, she only has two days left now!

Guess I have to go make phone calls now. Have a good last week of February everyone.

*Miruku are from Darkbolt, Sean's web comic. Basically they have no powers on their own, but they can use the powers of anyone around them. They were so feared the Tenma wiped them out almost to the last man. There are now like, three left in existence. Or maybe one?
