Fri:
Had a rather odd day at work. Mitch liked the idea for the work around, thinks it might be okay for the client. Had some weird behavior trying to make sure one part was as I thought. Was trying it on two machines at once and they were both failing. Reloaded the one machine and suddenly it was working for both. Then failed on one. Reloaded the machine again, then it worked on both and I couldn't reproduce the problems. Grr.

Went shopping, there was a huge line- the hiring line. Whaaaat? Oh, wait a second John was just saying a new store was opening? By the old house? Hmmmmm

Saw may parents, came back here. Finished up the PC, didn't reach the guy yet. More gravity falls.

Sat:
Got the guy's machine back to him. Oh look, as I walked in at 1:00 he was on the phone with spectrum. Wait, wasn't getting your email "so important" and you were calling me almost daily like I wouldn't call you when the machine is done and I brought you out the loaner machine? And I left the phone number on the screen what is it two days ago now? But you're just calling them 10 minutes before I arrive? Not so important I guess?

Anyway, the guy says "oh, you don't need to get a different router, you can just use the splitter and use both." So I do that. The internet works out fine. The phone one, not so much. So we call them back. Oh, that's a DOCSIS 2 device, while the new one is DOCSIS 3. They use different *made up crap* and it turns out once the guy set it up on their end for the new modem, the old one wouldn't work anymore. Thanks for checking that, guy!

So he went and got a new one, and I went back there on the way to Sean's to put it in. So in total I've been there 4 times? 20 minutes each way…

Anyway, rest of the day was watching stuff mostly. At 2:00 it turned out Sean wasn't coming so I said I would run my game. Went pretty well, much information was gathered and one of the problems was solved. Nice job.

Watched a resident evil movie that had some sins.

Sun:
Finished up gravity falls, found a new web comic I was reading.

SSD guy called, his machine wasn't booting. Sigh. Time to go over there for time number 5. Yay. Turned out it didn't like the backup drive being plugged in? Thanks Dell, don't make it skip that and go onto the next one if it doesn't work. Just hang the machine up totally. It's fine.

Rainy.

Got someone's wi-fi up and running again. Why even let it be turned off? That took a half hour on the phone for 5 minutes of work. Twenty years we've had windows in its current form. You think people would have learned at least the basics of computer use. You would be wrong though. Twenty years people!

Mon:
Pretty boring at work I'm afraid. I can see that four day weekend in the distance, calling me. Tantalizing.

Made sure a few bugs were fixed, they were. My open list is getting smaller. Need new projects to start putting more in.

No job so I came home. Checked my sites, ate dinner, finished the Gwenpool comics Sean gave me. Very good, I liked them a lot.

One call, SSD guy again. He has no idea what’s going on, how does he get his pants on in the morning?

Second call, getting a printer back online. Apparently he got a new router and probably just needs the IP address changed on the thing. Ugh, 25+ minutes away. But it’s just up lake, so at least getting home won’t be that bad. And it should be a short one.

Up to chapter 17, wrote part of the troll fight.

Tues:
Another fairly boring day at work. Verified pharos still installed on altilink, another bug was fixed.

No writing, the troll fight is in progress so I have a ton of windows open at home keeping track of things.

Made a change to the battlerunner to fix a bug, hope I did it.

Poked around. Got in to work a little later than usual because of construction, but then left to go see about the printer.

That went fine, apart from it being a brother printer. It has no website, despite being a network printer, just two links. "AirPrint" and "google cloud print." Well, guess which one didn't work? The one I wanted, right. Couldn't sign him into the service. Had to do it another way so his stupid android tablet would work. Why can't they just use AirPrint? License it or whatever? Why can't brother put out a plugin like HP so it can just find the printer directly? Why can only Apple products work properly?

Got back fairly late, ate dinner, checked sites.

Couple of calls today. Worked though good old windows live mail being hung trying to send to an address that didn't exist, had to force quit it, then figure out the address was incorrect (in two different places, thanks so much).

One guy who wants a checkup for tomorrow.

Then a half hour on the phone trying to run Mbam but her machine kept just straight out dying. Even in safe mode. So that's my Thursday fun I get to look forward to.

This all took until 9:00 when I finally got to try and finish up this combat.
Apparently my machine tried to reboot itself to do an update? This wiped out the combat runner because it doesn't ask to save, but the paragon runner does, so it stopped the reboot. Thanks apple, way to microsoft me. Now I have to figure out all the battle numbers again. Wonderful.

At least I finished the troll battle.

Wed:
One piece of work news, we're having a meeting tomorrow about the new project. It's the generification of the staples work we did previously. In effect, dumbing down the interface on our machines. Yay! But at least it's work, right? So that should be nice.

Did a few things, verified another bug.

Did some more typing practice. Up to 18 chapters now, getting close.

Did the checkup on the laptop after work. It was basically fine.

A few calls tonight, one new one for Saturday to see if some RAM I have will work in a Mac. It's faster than the machine needs, and I seem to recall it being fairly picky about that. It's at least some of the way to Sean's so I'll go there first and then move along.

Thurs:
Seems there's a lot of work coming up, so that's good. We even have an early build to do, uh, something with? So that should be coming fairly soon.

Otherwise not much to talk about.

Went to see the machine turning off while running mbam. I dusted it out not that long ago that I recall. But it was filthy again. Cleaned it out, ran the scan which finally did stay running (600+ things removed, sigh) and answered some questions. I love MS error messages. "Something went wrong!" Oh really?

Came back, checked sites, no calls. Put the last of the changes in for Volume 1.

Got ready for tomorrow. Which should be dentist->writing->shopping->parents.

If I get any calls I'll probably just go immediately. We'll see. Otherwise saturday is the one job and then Pyre at 2:00. We'll start around 3:30 or so I'm sure.

Nothing for Sunday.

Rained very hard today. No sun on my little forecaster for the future. Where are you sun?

Well, off to bed so I can be well rested for that dentist appointment. Everyone have a good memorial day!
