2018-09-13:

Fri:
Got the first round of testing done, in the nick of time. Adnan "helped" with some of the ones at the top, I did the bulk of the work. The SNMP stuff really is useless at the moment, but hey at least it didn't take me any time personally to do. The script seems to work flawlessly though.

We got the last build of the card stuff so I'll be doing that a bit Monday.
We did not get a new AT&T build as promised.

Had a good pizza for the last, final, see-ya, goodbye lunch for Rakesh. He's already shipped his car to Chicago, so no extensions this time.

Stayed late to make up the time, until 5:00. The last test I did broke the machine? I don't know, I can't get to the web site anymore. Sigh.

Oh, and it'll just let you make a change that faults the machine and requires you to wipe it and start from scratch. Yeah! Great design. I asked Christina about it. Stupid thing. Can't sneeze near the things but they break. Oh, and it kept losing my local user too. I had to put it back like three times!

Dropped stuff off at my parent's house, petted a Gabe and a miss thin, then went shopping. Came back here, checked sites, made two calls so I have a job for tomorrow and one for next Tuesday of all days.

Finished the Pyre proofread, thank goodness. Now to get him the corrections.

And one episode of Black Mirror.

Have to get up early tomorrow to get the car in.

Sat:
Which I did.
That went fine, took about an hour and a half, but it's done. Tires are fairly expensive, good thing you don't have to buy them very often. Saw milage 38883 which was interesting.

Came back here, checked my sites, the usual. Got a call I didn't have to go to my 3:00, a reboot had fixed it. Nice.

Ate lunch, watched an episode of Black Mirror and wrote the next chapter. Anton now has two war wolves to command. Sweet!

I've been wanting to play Halo again, of all things, so I did. Had to hook up my old charge and play cable, my batteries are shot. That's okay.

Sun:
Such a lazy day. Very cloudy, but no rain. Perfect for staying indoors, snuggling with kitties (who have become snuggle muffins again right on schedule) and doing nothing.

Read most of the day, I wanted to re-read the Wheel of Time series.
Watched the last Black Mirror episode.
Took a nap.
Got the next PC ready to go.

I think my RR email account is finally gone. It's not getting email and has an error next to it. Good riddance?

Mon:
Very busy day, it went super fast.

Didn't get any software though, the new AT&T is delayed a week, while the card stuff is delayed by a show stopper tablet bug.

Kept busy by writing bugs, going through and making sure my results were what I thought.
Did a little tablet work.
Had a meeting.
Figured out the machine I was trying to use didn't have the port for the external devices so the fact it even shows it and lets you fault the machine is even more bizarre. Thanks Christina!
Took pictures of the device (well, one picture) and wrote up a blurb about how to use it.

As I finished everything I have no idea what I'm going to do tomorrow. Maybe the card stuff will be ready to do a final test?

Came back here, the usual.
Worked on my optional rules document, how to bring the Wheel of Time series into the Paragon universe. Not that anyone will ever care. But I want to bring Lysanias there after his current mission and do a little training there. Mostly in dreamer stuff but he can learn to channel too, so why not? I just had it bouncing around my head and you know how that is.

That took a lot longer than I thought, it's a couple of pages.

Two calls, so I have wednesday booked now. I had tomorrow booked from last week. It's only a 30 minute drive, it'll be fine. So fine.

Tues:
Back to poking at stuff. Not tablet stuff, other stuff. The new build still didn't work, so maybe tomorrow it will and I can look it over.
But not today.

I did proofread the latest chapter which I hadn't done before.
Didn't write any bugs today, it actually worked like it was supposed to. I was checking out changing things from the local UI to see… wait, I did write a bug today. That's right. There's a big old reset button because the IPSec does nothing but cause trouble so they put a button to turn it off. Handy. But it doesn't put in the log that it's turned off. And we think it should. So I wrote that up.

So I did accomplish something today. Go me!

Drove out to Victor, got his laptop set up. Drove home. It went fine, no problems really.

Apart from a barky puppy.

Back here I made a few calls, so I have one for Saturday at 11:00 and booked Thursday for Jerry, again, the place I had just been. Something about his email, I don't know. But I'll tell you this- I do love going back to places I've already been.

Need to put some more ideas in for optional rules "other worlds" adaption. So going to do that and then maybe read a little and go to bed.

Wed:
Still little to talk about work wise. Can't really write either, I'm not alone in the lab anymore. Especially not with that clacky keyboard I use. I did have to move all the bugs from the one bug system to the other because I put them into the wrong one. That was fun. Why do we need THREE bug tracking systems in one organization again? Can anyone tell me? Sorry, four. They ("someone"??) take these bugs and put them into another bug system that the FX people actually use. So. Efficient.

Still no card reader software either, Chris did a test and it was still messed up, so no word about that. Or about the tablet related bug either, is that even being looked at?
Did go to the demo, we're putting in translation now, so that's good.

Always solve the problem in the most annoying way possible, I say. Don't teach two languages in schools, the native language obviously and one other, universally agreed upon, one. You could wipe out language differences in a generation. Everyone would be bi-lingual, everyone would be able to talk to everyone else. But no, just go on teaching spanish/french/german/italian/etc further driving apart who can talk to who.
Sorry, what was I saying?

Went to see about the BSOD, luckily I had a thought on the way there, that maybe the power outage messed up her BIOS options and I was right. I put it back from RAID (which is the default why?) and made the machine believe it was 2018 not 2002 (how old is this machine??) and all was well.

Back here I did the usual stuff, and read some more.
No calls, but I do have a job for tomorrow. See above.

Put in a few things to the optional rules, posted them, and updated the homepage for the current progress of the stuff I'm (supposedly) writing. I'll get back to it, promise.

Thurs:
Lots to talk about today, because that's how it goes.

As someone decided we weren't going to fix the email signing issue we're shipping the version from 3 days ago. So I loaded that on two machines and gave it a quick going over. I'll probably load it on at least one more tomorrow.

Loaded the new tablet software that had the language changes and wrote up 8 or so bugs (out of 15 for the day) around that.

Worked on trying to get logs for an issue, but of course you can't save logs on the machine due to an error. Wonderful!

Had some pizza and a cookie after the meeting.

So tomorrow I'll finish the test for the cards, load the new audit log software (which we hopefully get) get some more logs for the morons who can't seem to get their own for reasons, have a meeting about the remote UI project I've been assigned to, and do some testing of the audit log stuff.

Yeah, we couldn't have maybe stretched that over this week rather then squishing it into a single day? Seems odd to me.

Went out to email guy, he somehow blew everything away. Whatever. I don't care.

Came back, sites, no calls but some lady calling about my electric bill that seems like a scam of some kind. Her number didn't even come up in a search, so forget you lady. Probably some third party company trying to rope me into another ENESCO or whatever they're called like the last time. Sorry, had my fill of that!

Looking to the future as I do at this time: Stay safe if your home is being flooded with 20 feet of water or whatever, as parts of the coast are now.
Tomorrow, as I said, no Sean this week I guess, and I have one for 11:00 to go to. Must do paperwork, probably some reading, maybe a chapter? Not feeling it yet. Sigh.

The usual tomorrow, no bank still as I only have one check, woohoo. But the shopping and seeing my parents of course.

That seems like it for this week. Should be warm, enjoy it while it lasts. I'll probably cut the front lawn.

Stay dry out there. See you all next week.
