2022-10-20:

Fri:
Got a fairly good haul today, both baskets were used and I got them in time.
Work wise nothing much. The upgrade test plan was not approved, so not doing that. Apparently I thought only we were doing upgrade testing, but I guess not. So why do we need to do any at all? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
I'll have work for Monday, the EIP fax stuff is going in, so I get to test that, again.
Found cleaning the display off crashes two of my machines, that's new. Wrote that up, they're going to have such fun with it.
Did the shopping, saw my parents.
Stopped to get Oliver's medicine. They did have it, I guess they send via text and they had my home phone. Nice. Updated the number so I can get the texts.
It's a liquid, but I have to give 1ml. Doesn't sound like much, but this is a cat. Would have preferred a pill maybe? Too late now. It's only $12 for the bottle. 3 times a day for 2 weeks, 2 times for 2 weeks, then only once a day. Ugh. Gave him the first dose. At least he's not taking it personal, even if I had to struggle a bit to get it in him.
No game, Sean called it off instead of going ahead with the adventure without Jon.
Got the Snow Blower in, it's really heavy! That's good, right?
Worked on getting more of Mizzy's gift ready to print. Shaved 2 hours off by not doing 4 layers on the top. It's going to be inside, so it won't be seen, so who cares? I really need to learn to adjust the settings for each individual print instead of just throwing whatever at it. Yup.
NMS, looking for tech I was going to try milking some animals so I bought that up.

Sat:
Got the snow blower together, it even works. At least I walked it around the driveway, we'll see how it actually does in the snow but I'm ready for it. Naturally I'll keep an eye out for the part of the other one and if changing it does work I can always sell that one or just keep it for light snowfall. But for now the big one is ready.
Redid the ropes on the scratchers. After untangling the rope in the box. Here's a tip, rotate the thing you are covering with rope, not the rope itself. Maybe you knew that? It's all neatly put back, and the two redone pieces look really good.
Ate lunch.
Went out to facebook lady. Turns out she wanted to advertise, not post. But it's a non-profit and facebook doesn't care, they will charge you just the same. So we discussed other options.
Also put office on an iPad and checked a mouse, answered other questions.
Then it was game time. It was the Malachite show and while we got the magical dodad required we now need to deliver it.

Sun:
Started the next part of Mizzy's gift printing. My white filament hasn't shipped yet? Odd.
Checked sites.
Some NMS, the usual puttering around.
Started the second piece, the first one looks good! The second one also came out pretty good though I did scratch it a little getting it off the glass. I used the "flat" side to avoid the damage on the coated side. Sigh. I buffed it a little with some high grit sandpaper but it's not helping much. I'll try my black spraypaint I bought, maybe give the whole thing a coat of that? Just to see if it improves the look a little.
Cleaned up.
Got ready for tomorrow.
One call, just the lady I ordered the SSD for last week.
And then another call. The lady that said she was going to get a Mac months ago. Still hasn't. Her friend kept cropping pictures so they got smaller and then was shocked and surprised when the dating site she was trying to use was complaining they should be above 500px. I'm going there Tuesday to look at her iPad, something about email?

Oliver is taking his medicine a little more easily now. That's good, as it's three times a day for another 12 days!

Mon:

Started the EIP fax testing in the morning. Got that done, surprisingly some things are even fixed, which I wasn't expecting. More in the pass column is always good though.
Had three meetings, one with Don about Gabi and Govprint a totally off the wall test Gina is pushing for, and one for Gabi and converting the secure print release to XWS, and one with Christina going over her login test results. I hate Gabi so much. Go have them do testing, we are not their QA department. We got it working, it's up to them now! We did agree to set it up once again and let the other team use it. Apparently this other group isn't finding vision-e any easier to work with than we did. Go figure.
Got another big haul? Huh? I just did Friday! But Adnan was messaging me that he saw the lady cleaning it out. So I went down to both cans and pulled a lot of stuff out. The freezer is stuffed again, plus I got a box of twinkies, a muffin, 6 salads (he took two) and two cheesecake. That doesn't even mention what I found in the morning, more chips. Some dill flavored one that could be way more dill, and more popcorn, and some barbique chips. My goodness they throw a lot of stuff out around here. I could make a living just reselling food that companies throw away. I mean we're just one building, and there must be other buildings with this food service, right? Doubly weird because the salad I had today was dated the 20th, but it's only the 17th. Why get rid of something that has at least 3 days left? It was fine, so I don't get it.
Anyway, back to work stuff I worked on the test plan for the upgrade testing, as I had missed a few things. So maybe we'll get started on that tomorrow?
Went to see the lady with the laptop. Brought it home, figured I would do it here as she isn't that far from me. Hooked to my dual drive bay and plugged into the desktop it only took 50 minutes.
Brought it back, then came back here.
Finished up sites.

Tues:
Trying to get the machine set up for the upgrade test. That took some time, getting everything just right. Some things had to be undone to allow me to do other things. At least clones can be used from now on. Except, not?
Most of the settings didn't go over when I did the upgrade of the machine. And they really should. I guess we have time to fix it, but it's an odd thing to get wrong. Some settings stayed, but not all. It's very strange because it's not like everything went back to defaults, so it's not like a block of code that does that was skipped somehow. Very odd.

Worked on taking Mizzy's gift apart, I think I can 3D print all the pieces without too much issue now. Just have to find time to do it!

Went to after work. Got behind a train or something. There was a long line of cars, many turning around. The lights were flashing on the tracks but there was no train. But finally there was a train. A long train. Wow, can trains pull a lot. We should build more of them, or something. Like, on platform high above us. Run by magnets. But I digress. The train finally left. But the crossing didn't go up. I turned around and found another way too. Sigh. That made me quite late.

Worked with the lady running Win7 still. 3 hours or near enough. UGh. Just kill me now.

Got home at 8:00

Checked sites.

Got ready for tomorrow.
Went to bed!

Wed:
Worked on the test cases from yesterday. They're pretty far along but I sent the usual eight million questions to Gina about things. Like the spec saying one thing and the visual spec showing another. And how to turn it on and off which the spec says we should be able to do but no idea from the visual spec how.
Came to learn the other people testing upgrades also noticed settings not being carried over. So there's that.
Then did more upgrade testing. I applied the clone file and found it didn't really do much, so I wrote that up too. Don't know if it's the same issue and they'll close it, but it's in the system at least.
Set up a machine for the next round, most are signed out, Christina wanted to see if adding the device to XWC changed anything. But she was gone for the day so it's ready to go.
Also worked on Neil's gift in the middle of all that. As one does.

Went out to set up the new laptop. Of course we know nothing, not passwords, how he set up his email, how he has two, seemingly, Office accounts. Took me until 7:00 to get through that nonsense. So great.

And then another 40 minutes on the phone with the lady from yesterday. Her Windows Live Mail (yes, that one from 2012) was crashing. I think it's because of some IMAP nonsense I turned off, hope that fixes it. Just get a Mac already.

It's now 8:30. Yay.

Checked a few sites, didn't watch all my videos, and went to bed.

Thankfully no calls or after work job tomorrow.

Thurs:
Huh, 8:30 again, at least this time I got to do some things I wanted.

The usual meetings at work. We had a demo for the fax confirmation sheet, which is still going to launch with disclaimers. Perfectly normal. Why are still faxing things again?

Worked on the upgrade tests, got another two done so I'm up to four.

Gina got me an answer to one of my questions, so I can work on that tomorrow.

Adnan brought me cabbage soup, it was pretty good. I find him trash food, he brings me home made soup. That's about right.

Worked on Neil's gift. This part is almost done? But I'm not happy with it. Going to look into some settings.

Came back here, got caught up on videos.
Started another piece of Mizzy's gift printing. Looks like it's done well. Several more pieces to go.

Worked on Neil's gift. Had to switch over to the PC version of Scribus. The Mac version changed the formatting too much, none of my text was like this anymore. Very odd. Stupid thing. The PC version doesn't work much better, by the way. There are several annoyances. But I've made progress, I'm much happier with how it look now.

Two calls. The guy I set the router up for says his wife's machine keeps dropping it. I'm sure she's had that issue before but she says no.
And a guy with an email issue? Who knows. So that's both Saturday.

Looking ahead now we see more of the same upgrade tests (if machines are available) and working on Neil's gift tomorrow. Shopping, I think I have enough checks for a bank run, and I'll see my parents. I think we're doing game tomorrow. But not next week. But we are doing the Star Trek game Saturday. So it's two jobs and then over to do that.

Hopefully Sunday I can print at least the majority of Mizzy's gift. Still need to buy something for Sean's. As long as I keep up the pace it should be fine. I have, uh, two months I guess.

Not enough leaves to bother with yet, my tree is still mostly green. So nothing like that.

Getting Neil's gift totally done would be a nice finisher, I can work on both at the same time after all. Thanks, robot extruder!

I guess that's it for this week. Getting colder, I switched to the winter jacket. Tomorrow is Oliver's Birthaversary he's 6 years old. And the 26th I'll have been at Xerox for 7 years. Who would have thought? Well, see everyone next week!
