2010-04-05:

Once upon a time there was a princess in a faraway land. In this land, everyone had a Mac, used open source software, and played nice with each other.

Then I woke up.

Hey everyone, welcome back! Hope y'all had a nice Bunny Day and didn't sit, alone and rejected by society through your own choosing, unless you're into that sort of thing like I am in which case more power to you.

Highlights of the weekend include, but are not limited to,  finally working out an algorithm that seems to make my maze wonderer more intelligent, reading, Batman Arkham Asylum, some work, though not necessarily in that order.

Using the new powers of debugging I managed to craft the more smarter maze runner that now exists, and he actually is a bit smarter then the old one. Sweet. Now to improve the ghost animations and put them back in. He turns where I expect, he eats every dot way earlier then he used to even though he moves about half as fast (don't ask) and he doesn't uselessly circle open areas or backtrack too much. Life is good! (for him)

Got to see both The Running Man and Van Helsing, at Sean's Saturday. Came for The Running Man, stayed for the World Hopping Game, then Sean said "want to stay and watch the movie that world was based on?" So I did. In the game vampires were taken care of, there was personal tragedy, and it's off to the next world. He also let me borrow Batman that he hasn't even played that he bought from Kaitlin because he borrowed it for so long and felt guilty about it. So I've been playing that a bit too. Decent.

Got the other 4 volumes of Scott Pilgrim out of the library, which let me tell you was a bit confusing. I walked over to the comics stuff and half of everything was missing! It's like, there are only Manga here! Then I realized the american stuff was back where the manga used to be, and the Manga was now all alone. So much for cultural exchange or whatever. Anyway, it's just getting better, one guy uses Spirit Grades (it's a Sean thing) which makes his hair stand up and lightning shoot out of his eyes (this is a good thing, trust me). Wow.

Then of course the tedium of work. But first a great story about a lamp! I went in to staples to spend my monthly stipend and make my monthly offering of 10 ink cartridges, and knew that, last time I was there (last month)  I wanted to get something this time! And that thing was.... *drawing a blank*. So I'm walking around the place and I remember, oh yeah, LAMP! Because mine are all busted up, six ways from Sunday whatever that means. So I'm looking and they have NO LED lamps. Is this 2010 or what? Or perhaps Soviet Russia, circa 1981? So I settle for a halogen lamp that's mislabeled as 100w when the box says only 50w, and is $10 more then the stipend. So this voice says to me "roll perception" and I'm like, dude, here are the lamps. That's all there is dude. But I roll a 14 (HDL 6 + 4), and the voice says "you look up and see a bunch of lamps that aren't out on the floor." and there they were! Bright, happy, yellow boxes, and ONE LED lamp. Well, the lamp has like 20 LEDs in it. You know what I mean, it was the only one there. So I ask someone to get me down that LED lamp, and he does (the foundation would get after me for using my telekinesis in public) and it turns out to be $10 cheaper, so my stipend fully paid for it, though I fortified a penny. Stupid 29.99. Why can't you just be $30?

So now I have a nice little LED lamp like I wanted. He's so cute. Otherwise, kmart got cat food in again so my "kids" won't go hungry from turning their noses up at aldi food, and I came home. My first one was setting up an iPad for a guy, those things are heavier then they look. Even in person I'm not really impressed. The maps app is nice though. Answered his questions, etc. Then my 2:00 which was right down the street from where I live went fine. Just updated stuff, and he was having a weird script error when he opened firefox, but I took care of that. Then I came home. Read some, talked 20 minutes on the phone to Mitch, ate dinner. 4 calls, so I did them and yesterday's people I didn't reach. So this week appears to start in a decent fashion.

Oh yeah, got two checks from my old insurance company, one for 234.70 and the other for 62. I was like, huh? Why send me two checks? Maybe one is the house and the other the car? Don't know. What I do know is getting $300 is very nice.  Do I have to claim that as income? It's a refund, after all, I already paid tax on that money. I hope not.

Oh yeah, and I downloaded the latest Dr. Who last night and watched it today. Pretty good, I like the new companion, I think she's got some spirit. New doctors always take a bit to grow on me, and the last one of the last series is still the best in my mind. But maybe he'll change my tune?
