2018-09-21:

Fri:
Much to tell. Busy, busy, busy.

Got a lot done, too.

Got the machine loaded and tested, as expected it was fine. I called it done.
No audit log software until the very end of the day but I was not idle.
I went to the meeting for the remote UI and after that (had lunch) and then started going over it. Many questions. So many questions. Clarified certain points and added details she didn't. They aren't done, but that's fine. Then decided to actually run what I could, I was in the other room and too lazy to move my laptop and do ALL the tests which needed me to be right next to the machine.
I'm a horrible person, I know.

At 2:00 that was about done and Adnan went home so I worked on more optional rules, which I later put into the document when I got home. But I'm ahead of myself.

Oh, got the logs I needed too, that was the first thing.

Got groceries, then went to see my parents.

Then at home, no calls, I put stuff away, checked sites, and did the modification to the optional rules document. It's getting bigger. I have 8 worlds worth of "here's how to do this world in paragon" which is probably most of them I'll do. But we'll see.

Sat:
Finished the Wheel of Time section in the optional rules.
Read more Wheel of Time.
Went to the 11:00, she was complaining about stuff I didn't see, so I did the usual stuff. Didn't really find anything. Oh, and thanks for making it impossible (without third party tools) to redirect "cortana" to browsers that are not Edge, MS. Thanks. So much.

Back here I ate lunch, it was such a nice day I sat outside and read.
Then did more arcade game searching. Found a copy of Moon Walker that actually works! Yes!
Played more Halo 1.
Gathered Zelda games into one place. (it's a weird story) Looked for box. No box? What happened to it? Did I never have it? I have the manual. Odd.
Watched the latest Hero Academia.
Held a kitty and walked outside a little.
Put up a poster my mother gave me.

Sun:
Got everything on the list done!

In no particular order I cleaned the house up a little.
Did the paperwork from last month. 14 jobs. Nice.
Cut the lawn, waited until almost 7:00 when the sun was down. Still fairly warm out.
Put up the little shelf I had found some weeks ago, making a zelda shrine.
Moved the shelf that held all my DVDs and game boxes and such. I just needed a few inches (the amount I could move the thing) to make getting the ornaments down from the upstairs just that much easier. I think it will be a big help. Christmas is coming, you know. I see that goose getting fat.
Actually I see geese flying south, but that's another matter.
Did some reading. Finished book 2, started on book 3.
Checked my sites.

It is bug city around here. There were a zillion flies in the back yard, having a blast with a torn up squirrel carcass. Fun! I buried it. But why the heck are there dozens of flies in the house? I chase six or seven at a time out, wait ten minutes, another one is buzzing about. What gives? Where are they coming from? Where do they all belong?

Found a trick for the nasty "protein drink" Adnan gave me like 8 bottles of. Freeze it. It's supposed to be a "shake" anyway and served cold. They should have said half frozen. Much better.

No calls. Well, two hang up calls, but that doesn't count.

Mon:
Went pretty darn fast. We got the software for both the actual models we need to test, so I began the effort.

I finished the effort!

Adnan did… a quarter portion?

Anyway, left the SNMP stuff running so hopefully good news there. I have one new bug to write. A few holes to fill in, like going CWW upgrade, but it was mostly the exact same thing we had seen before. Nifty.

Came back, did the usual stuff while eating dinner, and did some reading.

Tues:
Finished another model, Adnan has yet to finish his first. The SNMP stuff has a lot of problems, but they don't want bugs until round 2 of that feature so, okay.

Er, basically that's it.

Got gas, came back here, did some reading, finished chapter 8.

Tues:
Finished another model, that puts my count at 2 complete run-throughs while my stalwart companion Adnan has yet to finish his first. He has about 40 more to go, as I recall. So he's being a big help, all while unable to sit still, or shut up. Seriously, if he's not wordlessly singing the tune from the arcade game "Pengo" he's talking cars with someone or "did you hear that?" Honestly, he's the biggest NPC I've ever encountered and I want to turn his AI off so he'll at least just stand there quietly and let me work. Why was I saddled with this guy again? He's useless!
The SNMP stuff has a lot of problems, but they don't want bugs until round 2 of that feature so, okay. No more testing of that feature I guess.

So basically that's it. I did my job, someone else didn't. Typical.

Got gas, came back home, did some reading, and finished chapter 8. Close to 4000 words not bad for a chapter I wasn't sure what would happen in. On to the tomb and the tombkeeper!

No calls, so no job for tomorrow either. Am I going to take this whole week off?
Oh, wait, I did get a call, the guy way out by Sean is still having wireless issues. He got an "extender" but he's trying to get the signal out to his workshop. The extender is going to sit right next to the PC rather than between the router and the PC. So that's useless. I suggested a new router with better antennas. I got his wireless working just fine the last time I was there though. Does he even know what he's talking about? Now that I think about it, wasn't the last time something completely different and he blamed the wireless? Like Rod blaming his internet connection when his Mac Mini wouldn't turn on because the cord wasn't in all the way? I seem to recall that.

Wed:
Getting into the rhythm of it now. Managed to finish 2 more machines today. Two! Used one weird trick, mainly doing a few related things and then looking at the log, rather than doing one thing, getting the log, doing the next thing, getting the log. Ugh, what was I thinking?

Anyway, results are exactly the same as the first time so it's somewhat pointless to continue. There's one "main" machine left and the crappy one without a display if I'm feeling really bored.

My "partner" finally finished his first machine! Yay! Good job dude, you managed to finally do a quarter of the work I did in three days.

Tomorrow we'll go over the remote UI stuff, which if you'll recall was not the priority. "Use this week for the audit log stuff" they said. "You can put RemoteUI off until next week" they said. Oh, but less than a week later it's "when can you get to the remoteUI stuff?"

Dudes! The spec isn't even done and the person making my test cases is in the hospital. Yeah, I had already run them because I'm just that good, but back off. You gave me until the week of the 24th to even start, why are you changing your mind a few days later?

I mean I don't care what I do, testing is testing, but they have to decide where they want me, because my multi-form technique isn't up to a level I can be in more than one place at once yet. I'm working on it, believe me.

So that consumed today. Tomorrow I (or he) shall finish up the last machine and have the meeting and then who knows what.

Came back here, did the usual videos and sites, security camera guy was complaining but having gone in to do whatever he said it was working fine. Well, it was probably working fine the whole time then, wasn't it?

And wireless guy… didn't answer. His phone was off, maybe he was out. Why make antenna non-removable anyway? But I don't think his problem is the wireless the more I think about it. So I want to get the full story as to what his issue actually is.

But no work tomorrow.

Did some reading, getting ready for tomorrow. No writing tonight. Need to work out exactly what they find, I only have the vaguest idea. This book is way more "seat of the pants" than Lysanias was. Maybe I should remedy that.

Thurs:
Only got through one model today, despite only having two to go and thus incentive to finish quickly. Hey, I need something to do tomorrow.

What did I do instead? Well, it certainly wasn't implementing some new features I've wanted for some time in the battle runner. No, it wasn't. Like importing a CSV file so I can keep certain characters on standby and just import them.
Or making it so you can put stats as a group onto a number of characters, for example 5 orcs in a combat having all the same stats.
Or giving everyone that enters combat an initiative, so I don't have to hit the freaking button over and over and over again.
Nope, didn't do that. But I forget what I actually did. Weird.

Then in the afternoon tediously finished machine #5. Did my "companion" finish his machine and ask to do the last one? No, he did not. So I have no idea what he did today, but it wasn't that. So I've now done 5x as much work as he did this week. Sweet! Do I get 5x his pay? No? Does that seem fair to you?

Tomorrow is the meeting about remote UI and getting my questions answered and clarity about what certain things mean.

Not sure what else.

Looking to the future: No jobs this week at all, that's got to be a first, so probably no bank? I do have one check and some cash from before, maybe I'll pop that in.
Shopping of course.
Seeing my parents.

No Sean so maybe have my parents over to watch that last movie? He hasn't even updated his own comic in two weeks. Did he really die for real this time?

Maybe writing? Hope so perhaps or even just fleshing the notes out so I can at least have confidence in where I'm going with this guy. Don't worry, I know how it ends. More reading of course, and I need to put more comics in, didn't do that last week.

Created an export function as a sort of "save" because the battle runner didn't have it, and made an app out of it. Nice.

Made some notes for the next several (I hope) chapters of the book! Yay!

Nice to have a quiet week, especially with me being so busy at work. We'll see what the next week holds. The last. Week. Of September. It's all downhill from here folks. Three months until the Big Holiday. Get your shopping lists done early.

See you then!
