2020-02-20:

Fri:
Gabi. Recreated the white screen problem in the morning, did it three times and sent them how I did it.
Lunch.
A little more Gabi, that well is running dry. But I'm not sure what else to do.

Shopping, dinner, had my parents over for a movie.

After they left Sean wanted to do some borderlands for the new Valentine's day event, so we got the rewards for that.

Then I finished the marvel series.

Sat:
Finished up my sites and movies for yesterday/today.
Worked on the next adventure, got the lab ready and figured out who was there. I think I'm ready to run the adventure for them. It's only been a month, I hope it's worth it.
Then watched season 3 of the magicians. Yeah, I did it.

Sun:
A little more active today. Did some cleaning.
Messed around with the Linksys router that's been on my kitchen table for months.
Got it running the lastest DD-wrt firmware. I'll probably put it on ebay.

If it stays running, because it messed up while I was using it. Hummm.

Watched some of season 4 of the magicians.

Okay, not much more active. I needed some time off.

Mon:
Wasn't sure what to work on today, unless I get started on 5.4 stuff, and that means messing with that stupid printer that was giving me problems all over the place. I looked into getting the cert stuff running on my XDM box. See, the guy who was getting me the license and was supposed to be looking at it last week never did. So I started looking through Chris' stuff related to it. Mostly trying to figure out what he had done for a certain test because I would need to do a similar one and wanted to build off it. Well, there was a lot of stuff relating to XDM most of it incomprehensible, thanks Chris. But I did find a tool for licensing XDM! And it worked! I generated the number and popped it in there, then started messing around with it.

Meanwhile Christina loaded the awful printer and I guess it just likes her better because it worked fine for her? Odd. But it's still 5.1 why did she put the thing that was on it, on it again? Odd.

I got a little bit further with the XDM thing, the weird thing is there's no traffic when I do stuff. But maybe I was looking in the wrong place? Still didn't work though, and of course there's no actual error message. I mean did it fail trying to reach the printer? Did it reach the printer but not get the thing I told it to get? Did it get the thing I told it to get but not give it to the other machine? Did it give it to the other machine but not get something back? Did it get something back but was unable to apply it? Did it apply it but it failed applying it? They're all different! And just saying yeah it didn't work is not helpful at all. Oh, we're so good at writing software.
So that's tomorrow's activity, see if I can take it the rest of the way tracking down where exactly it breaks.

Came back here, the usual stuff. Made a few calls, helped a lady determine her black was clogged up. (cleaned 3 times)
Made an appointment for tomorrow.
Tried out the new farming spot in borderlands from the event, but it wasn't as good as she said. I got some legendaries but nothing better than I already had.

So I went back to Mass Effect.

Tues:
Just like I went to bang my head against XDM for a bit. Actually made progress, using the old "let's test it against some other products and see what happens" bit. As usual for 5.1 the older stuff worked just fine, proving I had it set up right all along. What is it with 5.1? Everything I try to do doesn't work out.

Poked at USDA a little and showed Don what I had found out about the XDM he was pleased I had gotten that far. Tomorrow I'll write it up a little more formally and try to make a complete test suite out of what Chris did and what I've done so far.

Went out to my after work job, nothing major. Set up their smart tv, answered some questions. Nothing big.

Back here I checked sites, talked to a lady about downloading attachments, and yes they downloaded just fine. No other calls yet.

Played some borderlands, looking to do some farming but didn't find much in the "hearts area" and then did Mass Effect.

Wed:
Had a surprise meeting when I walked in, Don wanted to show some guy the tools I had used yesterday, so we did that.
Then I had the USDA meeting, they'll hopefully get me a new version tomorrow morning.

Wrote up the steps for doing what I think is the test of XDM.

Then tried to get the other way of talking to the server to work. Of course it doesn't work. From what I can tell the device needs to have some kind of password applied but sitting here that can't be right it's for routers and stuff. How would they pass in the password? From what I've been able to tell there's traffic to the server but it goes nowhere. I don't know.

Then set up a printer for someone else. The card wasn't working, but another card was. Weird.

Came back home, have one call. Ate dinner, the usual. Sent in my RG&E meter reads.

And played more Mass Effect. Got to the crummy water planet. Boy oh boy will those living as "outcasts" be surprised when suddenly the planet is cleaned up thanks to my efforts.

Thurs:
Did I get closer in getting all this NSDM or whatever it is stuff working? Not sure. I found a method to test the whole thing out and 3/4 of it worked perfectly. The last step gives me some errors. Of course it didn't help the website and the readme used a different URL to make the request. But even using the "right" one it's giving me an odd result. The directions are from 2014 so maybe it just doesn't work anymore? Hard to say. The official way still didn't work but you know that means nothing.

Otherwise put the new build of the USDA stuff on. And it totally bombed because I couldn't log in with any method. Oh, and between yesterday and today someone wiped out all my settings and put a different release on the machine so I had to set it all up again. Thanks. No, my name wasn't on the calendar but neither was anyone else's so I don't even have anyone to rage at.

We got some new devices so testing the newer, upcoming stuff should be easier because we have more than one machine.

Had the meeting, and that was basically today.

Went to go see email lady down the street, don't know why it suddenly decided to flake out but turning "insecure device" on and changing oauth to "normal password" made it work. She has 15,000 email? Why? What possible gain is there to be had from keeping so many emails? (unsorted in your inbox)

Came back here, did the usual after work after work stuff. Almost out of yummy soup, you served me well, soup.

Future! I guess we are doing game tomorrow, so we'll see how far we get with the new adventure. I'll also have to head to the bank, I have just barely enough to make my next deposit into my IRA. Filling it up fast this year, it's only January and I've made two deposits already? Didn't think I was making that much. Then shopping, get gas, see my parents. I'm also having the garage floor looked at at 3:00 so I'll go in early to work. With breakfast. So it'll be work, back here, then out there again, then parents, then back here, then out to Sean's.

Saturday nothing yet, I didn't reach the guy who said he was getting a motherboard? Uh, if you can order a motherboard you can put it together yourself, dude.

So that's it. Have to go to bed a bit early today but that's fine. Wow, one more week of February, just another 3 months of winter and it can be fall again. Oh, well, have two days of summer, don't you worry.

See you all next time.
