2015-03-05:

Fri:
No work in the morning, just watched anime. I'm useless.

Went to my one job, which of course he couldn't show me his issue because it wasn't happening. Uh huh.

But there was a printer issue, or rather a router issue, as reseting the printer did nothing, but resetting the router did.

Then over to my parent's. Blew the dust out of my mother's, reseated the video card, ran a memory test. Nothing conclusive. The capacitors were all that newer, squat style not the tall ones, so I can't tell if they're bad. Do those type even go bad? I have no idea.

Then back here. Got the first replacement HD in, so I put that in and started it installing.

Leonard Nimoy died, so that's a bit of a bummer. 83 years old. Good luck on your next journey, Mr Nimoy.

Sat:
Busy, and it worked out just like I planned it. (for once)

Went out at 11:30 to get to my 12:00, and there wasn't much I could directly do because Dell had cut his hard drive into two pieces, a 60GB piece (HUH?) and the rest, like 450GB. Yeah, stupid, right? The windows folder itself was 35GB so not much I can do with that. I brought it back here to format and put back together. Also ordered them a Mac laptop.

Then over to York, where I stayed longer than I had anticipated. Got them some new email address, reset the box controlling the printer, answered some questions. Left from there directly to go to Sean's house, where I totally rocked out our game of Terra Mystica. But then Mizzy (who was wearing a cute pony shirt, don't think I didn't notice! A G1 pony shirt, but still, I felt the love.) Sean and myself got spanked by Dave in Mario Kart. Is it because he's half our age? Maybe.

Ah well. Got back here way too late, as Sunday had begun hours ago. Oh yeah, and it was 0 degrees when I left there. 10 by the time I got home.

Sun:
Got the laptop with the new hard drive set, remembered to call and do the stupid phone activation.
And got the other laptop set, no problems. It just took all afternoon. Because windows is slow, and sucks.

Watched some Naruto as I've finally got the whole series, but really after that one guy leaves it's just pointless missions. The characters don't change or grow, or really learn anything new technique wise. Sigh.

Snowed. Total shock, I know.

Good number of calls this weekend, I have four places to go tomorrow, and a few tues/wed as well. Perhaps it will make up for this past crappy week.

Oh, and it's March now, hope you didn't miss that important fact.

Because reasons.

Getting my car inspected, for one. On the annual date. Which has no other importance, really.

Back to Naruto.

Mon:
Started the morning off a little different, did a cleanout. Got her printer back on the network, took off an expired McAfee, that sort of thing.

Then shopping. Sent in my taxes, bye-bye, bank, turned in my March ink carts at Staples and got groceries. Done!

Returned the laptop with the now non-busted hard drive, that went fine.
Next one was… odd. She somehow forgot all her passwords, even the one to actually get on the machine, all at once? Uh, okay? I don't know, I didn't like her much. Not Kimberly level of loathing (hey, any long time readers remember her?)

Then the last one was explaining the walgreens photo service and why when you don't look at the previews of your pictures, you get them back with their heads chopped off. Yeah.

Back here, had an hour to eat. Did. Got the two hard drives for the laptops about 7:00, so after my bizarrely huge number of calls I started them off. Yeah, I've got tomorrow booked, and somehow everyone wanted Wednesday too so I have only one more spot open that day. Guess this week is going to be a busy one.

My mother started radiation therapy for her tumor. Hang in there mom.

Ugh, 9:30 and the windows machines still aren't done. The one isn't even done downloading the 186!! updates.

Tues:
Really, why do we have to compress everything into one week? Last week I had nothing to do. Why can't some of you people call me then?

So today. Set up the new Mac for a guy and hauled his old PC away. That went fine.

Then to clean out a laptop. Ancient thing, only 512MB and a 30GB hard drive. Why should I even bother? Oh, because she paid $250 for this piece of junk? Wow, someone made out like a bandit. I sold her RAM for $15, a new battery for $15 (which I have to order) and worked on it for $50. Cheaper to just ask me to get you something decent, or heck you could have the one I put on ebay and never sold. FREE. Oh well.

Then to my bestie Ellen. Who would keep me forever if she could. To tediously tell her how to make folders and move things into folders. Honestly, it's not that hard. I was trying to leave at 4:30 (a very reasonable hour and a half I thought) so I could get to my 5:00, which I did at 4:15sh. Part of it was the weather, it was nasty. They were predicting ice rain, but that seems to have not happened, at least not yet. It was still snowing and then turned to rain and made a huge mess on the roads.

That one went fine, his piece of junk PC had a small HD and he only had 3GB worth of stuff to move. Set up his new machine, and cautiously made my way home.

Where I ate a hasty dinner and made phone calls. Oh, and finished up that laptop so I can take it back.

The account guy is having trouble with the NAS, but I got a different version of the story from the woman who called me in the morning about it. Might get over there tomorrow, I have another job off titus. But maybe not, I'm still very busy.

Made appointments all across this week, hope the weather gets better. I guy can dream, right?

Did my paperwork and sent in my sales taxes. About $2000. Bye, $2000, I'll miss you. Not that you were ever mine.

And took on Superfish, yes that super fish over the phone. Took me a little while to recognize the name and ask if she had a Lenovo. She did. At least I knew how to take care of it once I realized what was going on.

That took until 9:30. Sigh.

We're all mad here.

Wed:

Do you want to build a snowman?
Great weather for it. Warm. Yeah, 34 is warm now, that's how far we've fallen.

Super busy again today, let's take it from the top.

Returned the two laptops, got them hooked into the wireless, that was that.

Next one was quite short, just a checkup really. Ran the standard stuff and answered some questions.

As that was so short, I got back here and ate, then went over to the accountant guy. Basically his problem was that all his ethernet cables had been mixed around. By someone. I won't call them a moron but… yeah, the thought is there, maybe? So they spent a day and a half with weird internet access not because of equipment failure or machine issues. No, they screwed themselves.

Then on to the one down the street. Another checkup, took a bit longer but got her straightened out as well.

Then finally (sheesh) I went to look at a printer issue. He had three separate icons for the printer (love you windows, thanks!) so I got rid of the two "ghost" ones. Ran the standard scans, and looked at printing from the iPad. Not many options when you do that, oddly. You think there would be.

Finished Naruto and started Orphan Black. Pretty good. If a bit contrived to make the story start.

Thurs:
No jobs scheduled, but I did get one place. Heavy snow here, but after I left (at about noon) it was like it hadn't snowed where I was going. I mean more, obviously there was still a bunch of the crap laying around. Anyway, watched more Orphan Black in the morning, then out to the Neilsen House to see about their issue. Which was basically windows update chewing through all the RAM it could. *shakes head* It didn't even have any updates to do, I applied the one. It should have been, "oh, okay, no more, bye!" No, it sat there and used up all the memory on the system. I turned it off, stupid windows.

Cleared the driveway, as much as I could anyway. Getting hard, with the melting and the buildup and the additional on top of that.
Got it done, it started to come down again.

I can't win.

Many calls today, so I have tomorrow booked. And my favorite Ellen called because she can't get her machine on now. So I have to go there Saturday.
No word on any game this week, so that's the only Saturday thing I have to look forward to, I guess.

Then more watching stuff.

March is treating you all well, I hope? And I do hope that. I'll see you all next week…

A year older.
