2019-07-19:

Fri:

Quite busy today, writing the 20 new bugs I put in. As one does. I have 1085 entered now. My closest “competitor” has 535. Keep trying, Giuseppe.

See, the thing is, Giuseppe is probably a fine tester. He can take a spec and make a somewhat uninventive test plan, and then run that test plan. It's fine. But it's clear he has no imagination when it actually comes to testing something to see where it breaks. Everything I tried, like logging in and then trying to get to places I shouldn't be able to go with that login… worked. He obviously tried nothing. So it seems I should have been testing it all along. Ah well, it's fine.

I put in several new feature requests and a ton of bugs. Kept me laughing all day.

Left an hour early as I said I would, did the shopping, got new shoes (and by the way target has a very tiny selection of men's shoes. Very. Tiny) and dropped stuff off at my parent's house. Saw their Gabe on a hot tin roof, and went back home. Checked sites, watched videos, and went to see my sister for her birthday.

Of course her Steam card didn't work. Sigh.

Back here it's a Friday with no Sean. Huh.

Read comics!

Sat:

Super busy today, starting with all the yardwork I did. I moved a few small berry plants to hopefully better positions, then pulled more clingy vine out of everywhere. I have a huge pile of stuff out there waiting to be picked up, come on over any time oh my parents.

Fixed the garage door, it goes up and down again, and the cable length was just fine. So that worked out and I’ve got an extra one for when the other side breaks. I tried to see how worn it was, but it’s not easy to see so I guess it’s just a surprise waiting to happen.

Mowed the back yard, and that was the end of the yardwork for the moment.

Ordered Sean’s replacement part and Mizzy’s gift, hopefully it will be accepted this time. And even finished gluing the bottles in place for the Pac-man I’m making. Time to buy stuffing and fabric.

After lunch I called the prison place, still no answer, and went on with my day.

Did the paperwork for last month, almost ten jobs! Useless.

Worked on finances, next time I get paid I'll buy another mutual fund? I haven't done that in forever. But I've got $3000 in my 401k just for 6.5 months so it's not like I'm spending it on figures. Just to pull a random example out of the air. It’s still being saved, just in a different place, and it’s still backed by the stock market to an extent, right?

Ordered more invoices, given how fast I'm going through the now! (Those 8 jobs last month really made the stack shorter!)

Painted the little shelf I found. The paint was just turning solid but popping some water in there did the trick and turned it back into usable paint. It's all white and nice now so it can be put up. As soon as I find where the studs in my wall are? DAD!!!!!

Lay down for a well deserved nap.

There’s a tiny bit of white paint left, which will probably be dried up the next time I need white paint.

When I got up it was clouding up something fierce so I went out to pick berries. Got a few, not anywhere near what my mother has picked. *jealous* But then I had more last year so…

Watched Season 3 of Stranger Things

Sun:

To contrast yesterday I did very little today, as was my right and privilege.

Finished up Stranger Things and for some reason had a hankering to watch the matrix. So I did.

Oliver had vanished when I went to give him his treat so I couldn’t do that. He finally                 reappeared in the afternoon one very dirty kitty. What did he get into?

Straightened up the house, did the usual stuff to get ready for the next week.

Mon:

Is it slacking off to say I only wrote 9 bugs today? Even if I wrote the only 9 bugs? Kathy wrote one but she doesn't really count as a tester.

Honestly, did that guy test this at all? Passwords that should have 14 characters (yes you read that right) accept 6 instead, checks are done when cancel is pressed, the list goes on. It's madness. And I'm not finished with it yet! (I'm close though. There was a meeting today)

Otherwise not much else to report.

Got through my two after work jobs. The first one just needed the router they were using rebooted. She didn't know it even existed. There were three computers attached to it, one lady is out on medical leave, one that had the ethernet turned off?? And was on the "upstairs" wireless instead of the wireless in that room. Yowza.

Then north, up the street to the other lady who had, uh, no problems whatsoever. I connected to her wireless just fine. Huh?

Back here it was 6:30 by that time (stupid 104 detour!) so I ate dinner, got ready for tomorrow, and made today's calls. One job for tomorrow and one guy looking for a security system for his home but doesn't want to buy all the pieces in one package. I hate security systems as a rule but that's just going a bit too far, don't you think? I'll look over what he sent me though.

Going to be fairly rainy the next few days.

And looked at the camera stuff for the guy. I hate security systems.

Tues:

Finally finished the portal testing. 44 total bugs, and an additional 8 written by me today. I am compelled to ask once again, did he actually test this thing?

That took most of the day. I had a brief meeting about additional testing around the bypass tray so I got started on that. I think I have the plan finished, but I'll think about it some more.

No Chris today, hope he's not dead.

Oliver seemed weird this morning, didn't want to eat, wasn't on my bed, and barely moved to get away from the inhaler. His butt was all filthy too, had to clean him off. He seemed better when I got back though, he ate some crunchies and was wandering around.

The lady's problem wasn't her monitor. It was… nothing. She had no problems. No problems at all. That were not in her head. Came home, she was on the way home from work anyway. (sorta)

Picked more berries. Should be enough for a pie.

Checked sites, got ready for tomorrow, made two *shudder* audio CDs for the two ladies. Thought they had forgotten me.

Wed:

Biggest win for today was I guess finding out the change we made to the printer doesn't survive an upgrade. Whoops.

I did the bypass tray tests they wanted me to do. Had some pizza, had the latest demo of the next software version, and that was about it.

Didn't work on an idea for a card game called Dwarf Courting while at work, no I did not.

Drove half an hour to discover the digitizer on the people's all in one, which they didn't even know they had because they didn't know it was a touch screen, believed that the monitor was being touched all the time. That made the mouse jump around and be unusable. Thanks for putting in another point of failure, Lenovo. Had your customers actually used the feature, they might have thanked you.

Or something.

Oh, and I got a replacement for the steam card, and took 490 home and dropped it off. I should have had the CDs, I could have dropped those off as well. Didn't realize I would be taking 490 though. Ah well, I'm going that way tomorrow (yay) so I'll take them then.

My Neil gift parts have shipped, can't wait to see how they came out.

Rainy today, which is good my sprouts need it.

Checked sites, got ready for tomorrow, read more comics.

I really need to do more writing. Ah well.

Thurs:

A few general things accomplished today, and certainly no working on Dwarf Courting.

Ran an upgrade test and to my shock and surprise the value I set was reset by the altboot. Who would have see that coming?

Tested 4 tablets we got back, two need to be sent back for repairs, two seem fine.

Did my 25 of the stupid reliability test.

Had the two weekly meetings.

And did some very brief tests regarding the bypass tray. Shock and surprise, it does the same thing on other machines. Who would have thought?

Went to see the old guy. Didn't really have any issues I could see. Ran the usual and set him up some shortcuts to Facebook and such. Whatever. Oh, and dropped the CDs off, they weren't there.

Came back, quite hot out today, did the usual at home stuff. Got ready for tomorrow, and I'll probably read comics later.

Looking to the future: I think we're still in no-Seanvill but maybe my father can finally come over for Father's day this weekend?

I'll pick berries, get my car registration pasted in, not doing the lawn, and no calls as of yet. Not sure what else at the moment.

See you all next time.
