2019-08-02:

Fri:

Had the "expo" which was a very crowded hallway you couldn't hear yourself think in. Great. I guess closing down all those buildings and getting rid of nice, open spaces we could have such an event in didn’t work out for us in the end, eh?

But the food was good.

Worked on the game, I mean did tablet testing. Yes, that’s it, only tablet testing. All the rest of the time.

The usual after that. Went to the bank, did the shopping, went to see my parents, and bought more adhesive. Was a little late to Sean's, but not too much, and we cast more spells. Tomorrow we’ll probably just talk about the rest and call it done.

Sat:

Redid the rope on the one post first thing. Plenty of rope left for when the others start coming off. But they aren’t quite as bad. Had to do two pieces because wrapping the entire box of rope around and around wasn’t going to work. But it’s fine.

Looked for the numbers I used to make the clock back in the day. Didn’t find them. Really need to clean that room out, I’ve got boxes (and boxes) of junk up there basically untouched since I moved in to that house. Nearly 20 years ago.

Picked berries, but not the ones in the sun on the one side of the house. I’ll get them tomorrow.

Worked on gifts, had to redo Mizzy’s casting but the gems worked out fine. Painted them.

Ate lunch and then left.

We did just talk about the spells, and that effort is done. No more Pyre for now.

Got back and went to bed.

Sun:

Not in any particular order but it was fairly cloudy so I picked the rest of the berries I didn’t get to yesterday. Got enough for another bag and a half, so I’ll have 5 pies in the making.

Cut the front lawn, I actually did that first thing when it was cooler out. It was a pretty nice day all day come to think of it.

Cleaned the mouse. He just hid in his tube the whole time so it was super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Worked on Ellen’s site. She wanted the map updated, and I did it in a really stupid way before but hey, at least I found the original. I cunningly put it on the site itself so I just redownloaded it. Thanks, past me. I redid it, so further edits will be far easier.

I cut all the pieces out for the Dwarf game and bagged them up.

No investing, somehow my spare money didn’t actually go up any the last two weeks. Huh? Ah well, maybe next time.

Wrap cord for part of Sean’s gift, figured out how to make it look good and stay while the glue dried, I think it’ll work. They’re slowly coming together.

Tackled the project room. Didn’t totally finish it. Got rid of several boxes worth of stuff. I have two garbage bags full of plastic packaging from packages I had, for some bizarre reason, kept all these years. And tons of cardboard. Maybe I can tie it with some sweet rope I have? Found the numbers on the floor. Of course we don't have the 9 we need. My philosophy was, if I couldn’t display it, let’s toss it. I’ve got a few things to go into the shops, a whole thing of books was put on the downstairs shelves (including a whole set of Paragon books). Man, it’s hard getting rid of stuff, isn’t it? I’ve got this box of just odds and ends collected from when I was a kid. Odd plastic guns, parts of figures, pieces of games, still have to bag that up I guess.

I did keep a few boxes, found a place for other stuff, that room is emptying out. What shall I do with it when it’s clean I wonder?

The trackpad for the MacBook came and it was dropped off so I looked into it. Change the pad, but when I went to put it back together it didn’t want to fit. I thought something had fallen under the battery? Nope, the battery cells are bulging. Whoops. Glad it wasn’t worse and them actually breaking something. Ordered a new battery for that, and for my UPS which is complaining at me again. Seems the last time I replaced the batteries in that was 2016? So that’s not too bad.

And the usual sites and videos watched. Whew, what a day. And still more cleaning to do up in the project room. I gratefully went to bed after all that.

Mon:

Had the usual meeting, nothing was really assigned to me, so was sort of at a loss about what to do all day.

Tried the usual, just poking at it. Not very fulfilling.

And you know what else wasn't fulfilling? Talking on the phone for an hour with a lady that didn't know anything. She called her laptop a "new iPad" didn't know her wireless password, didn't know her Facebook password, didn't know the difference between a PC and an android device and was trying to install the Facebook app on her laptop. The world trembles.

Anyway, that was a bit later. After work was over to set up the printer, which went fine. It was a Mac.

Then over to see Ellen, as I was in the neighborhood. Her monitor, after turning off and back on, was fine, and I took her battery to order a new one.

Back here I ate dinner, checked sites, worked on the gift a little, the pour went fine but needs to be thicker. I'll do another pour and glue all three layers together. I guess the plastic template for Sean's was a bit larger, and Mizzy's is already thinner. Sigh. Ah well, it does look okay so it'll be fine with another layer. But I want to do something with the little pac-man I made so I'm waiting for some paint to dry so I can't do the pour tonight. Plus it's getting late and the paint is taking forever because it's really humid right now.

So yeah so much for more cleaning tonight. Nope.

Oh, didn't get assigned anything at the meeting so yeah, have no clue what I'll do tomorrow either.

Tues:

I had at least some sort of plan for today. I started out doing the ethics training we have to watch every year. It was the same as last year. Huh, who would have guessed?

Then I was on some crazy quest by Bob, looking into certain things. He got a whole page of questions for his trouble. Yeah, that's what you get. Gina came down and was like "he wanted you to do what?" So yeah, it was pointless.

Showed her the difference between the remote solution development uses (trash as I found out, it kept crashing and the only thing the app on the tablet was doing was showing the ads!) and the one I found.

Otherwise poking it. Demo tomorrow, didn't we just have one? Odd, usually they're two weeks apart. No one wrote any bugs.

Came home, emptied two more boxes from upstairs, worked on the pour, glued some stuff, watched the usual vids, thought about the upcoming IV game, checked sites, ate dinner.

One call, a BSOD which isn't too typical anymore. She wants Thursday, so that's fine.

Wed:

Had at least a sort of mission today at work. We got a new version with a few new features so I set out to investigate them. Wrote two bugs against them, that's a good day's work especially when no one else does.

Showed the developer the remote tool I found, so they're going to try it out instead.

Otherwise had the demo, so we know what's coming up next, and otherwise a fairly dull day.

Came back home, took delivery of Ellen's battery, brandless stuff, my battery. Then cleaned out another two boxes, with still several more to go, yay. Watched a little more JoJo's, thought about my adventure now that character info was pouring in, and changed the battery so my UPS stops beeping at me.

Oh, the pour came right out of the mold, the trick I guess, as with all things in life, is to use more lubrication than you think you need. Wait…

So gluing the next layer onto Mizzy's gift and it will be one step closer to completion.

My prototype held up and seems to work okay. I'll need to put a bit of black paint here and there on it, but otherwise I think I can get behind it.

Thurs:

Not much exciting today but the usual two meetings. Looked over the spec to make sure I got all the instances of one acronym turning into another. Oh, and we had a fire drill. Cricky that's loud. Scared the crap out of me, seriously, why it gotta be that loud?

Did my usual poking, didn't get assigned anything at the meeting, and worked on names and specifics for the first IV adventure.

Went to see BSOD lady but didn't see any BSOD. Took out some ancient stuff like Java, ran some scans, everything was fine for an hour. I guess we'll see.

Came back here, Sean wants to meet at a restaurant with Neil tomorrow so I put everything in the car and got ready more than I usually do for Friday morning. Then realized I actually don't need to go grocery shopping tomorrow. All I would need is milk. That's it. I have enough stuff for a week otherwise. Crazy.

So I guess I'll drop stuff off at my parent's house early tomorrow, then head to work, and leave basically at the normal time. With no bank and no shopping I don't have to come back here, and I can make it to the restaurant on time. Nice.

Other things in the future are Sean's on Saturday for games with Neil/Stan. Sunday hopefully finishing Sean's gift, working on the pac-man, the last of the berries picked, cut the back lawn, more cleaning of the project room. Yeah, that should keep me busy.

It's August now, if you didn't realize it. My grandmother died 7 years ago already. How about that.

Anyway, hope this summer is going well for you, I'll see you all back here one week from now.

That's an order, I won't take no for an answer!
