2014-04-17:

Fri:

Busy, busy.

Got the guy with the cottage squared away, got his new craigslist ad up. Took a bit longer then I expected, but still made it to my 11:00. This was a somewhat used machine, but it looked like it had been formatted. The Norton version was from 2009. Ugh, why bother? I mean, yes, an 8 processor Mac with 6GB of RAM and an SSD from 2008 = awesome. A single processor PC with a mere 2GB of RAM from 2009 = crap.

Learn the difference, people.

Also gave him the Xbox I had replaced the laser in some time ago, as the lady never came to pick it up. Silly lady. This was her ex-husband I guess, so I guess they still talk?

Picked up a machine, another refurb job, that put Win7 on a machine originally running XP. Yeah, that'll work. Anyway, while I ate it downloaded the needed things.

Back out to turn a firewall off, just as I anticipated, for the boss sauce people. It's such a burden, being right all the time.

Called the guy with the desktop, he didn't have the money yet.

Called the contractor guy about his "windows may not be genuine" issue. He had called HP because this message was coming up on a machine he got from staples, which apparently was never sold but pulled out of a warehouse and "refurbished", then sold. They were having him do all kinds of things, I said, just activate the darn thing. (This was before, when I called he was on the phone with HP) Calling him at that point verified that yes, when he went in and clicked the little "activate" link it worked fine, as I anticipated.

Remember kids, Apple now gives away their OS, Microsoft continues to put roadblocks in the way of legitimate users, making them jump through all kinds of hoops. Remember this when it comes time to give one company or another your hard earned dollars.

So I went home and waited for the call that the guy had the money.

He finally did, so I went back there, dropped off the machine, got paid, then went over to my parents house to see their kitties. I mean them.

Then bought the foodstuff for mini-burgers and fries for tomorrow's game.

Made the mini-burgers for the game, so I can just pop them in the oven. I'll have to do the fries there, but at least it'll save me some time.

Two appointments tomorrow, one half an hour away, which is great, just great.

Looking forward to the drive.

Did some writing, you know, for a bit of change of pace. 63,279 words. Another one line that changed things a bit. Chaos shows up a little early and makes some trouble for them I hadn't planned on, but should be interesting to write.

Sat:

Did the two jobs, they went pretty well. The morning one was setting up a new laptop, pretty standard stuff.

Then back here, ate, and out again for a checkup. Again, nothing too serious, lots of toolbars and other crap, as usual.

Then went over to Sean's for the Stan adventure. We got through it pretty quick, so we watched an episode of Psych and then I went on my way.

Sun:

Watched more Psych, because why not?

Hardly any calls, didn't actually schedule anything for tomorrow, oddly.

I did talk to my original buddy Ellen, her firefox was messing up her webmail and ebay for some bizarre reason. Mbam scanned as clean, and I installed chrome which worked. I left it running combofix and she emailed me some incoherent babble, as usual, some time later.

Super.

Mon:

Shopping, as normal. I did find the eggs I referenced last week, so I"m sure that's a load off of everyone's mind.

Cleaned up a little around here. Then went out to put in that video card from week, as I received it Friday. It was a quad processor machine with 6GB of RAM, which should be fairly quick. How MS manages to make a machine like that run like it was ten years older then it is quite baffles me.

Warm, not much sun, but a little bit of rain.

I guess we've gone right from spring to summer?

Not many calls today, either. Everyone must be outside?

Made some cute bookmarks, based off a design on a shirt Neil gave me for my birthday. Can't print them. The laser printer seems to be totally shot, while the inkjet smears black ink all over them. I cleaned what I could, which helped a bit, but it's still smearing a little. I'll let it sit for tonight and maybe that'll dry out and I can print them successfully tomorrow.

Tues:

Nope. Still smeared. Super. Tried the other two printers I have in the house, which I got from customers. One won't feed paper, the other needs new cartridges. The epson got better, but it still leaves a nice black smudge in one area of the paper. Great, right?

No work at all. Finished Psych and did a bit of work on the book. Came up with the four demons the gang gets to fight, even made character sheets for them.

Snowed all day. Yes, snow. It was above 70 yesterday, today we get snow.

Hardly any calls today either. I miss you.

Wed:

At least the sun came out, though there were still some flakes coming down in the morning.

Went to bring My Buddy his transfer bench, as they're moving him to yet a third room now. But maybe in June he'll have that apartment! Weeeeeee.

Wrote a little, not sure why I made character sheets for them. My guys one shotted all but one, and the only reason she didn't was because it was a spirit energist demon that was immune to fire. And Yasui's main attack is now fire based. But she beat him in the end. Did one job at 4:30, cleaning up two computers. One older XP machine with zero hard drive space left, that was moving like a turtle. A real one, not a mutated ninja one.

I do finally have several jobs for tomorrow, so looking forward to that, in some ways.

Then did more writing.

Thrus:

Two in the morning, the keyboard replacement with went fine, and checking into why a system was "hanging" and such. Mbam found a few things, but not much. I did replace her system fan, as it couldn't be oiled and she said there was a bios message on boot about it not spinning once. So I guess we'll see.

Finished the latest chapter after lunch, up to 69,874 words and I can see the end from here. 3-4 more chapters should wrap this puppy up.

Then out to york for my 3:00, seeing what hardware they needed for their new inventory control thingy. Also cleaned up their "network room" because they had three separate routers, the frontier one no one knew the password to, an ancient wireless-B router, and a newer dsl modem for some bizarre reason. So that got cleaned up.

Stopped at the mortgage place on the way back, she had 'lost some folders on her desktop" apparently.

At least that was my intent. I totally forgot, of course. I just called them, and told her to look in her recycle bin, and what do you know- it was there.

Figured out what hardware would be best for york, sent it to the guy.

Then had dinner.

Made a few phone calls, worked more on the story. I'll work on it more, but right now it's 71,502 words.

I have two jobs tomorrow, both in the morning, the second only because I answered the phone at 9:11 because I had only one job for tomorrow.

It Easter weekend, so I don't see myself getting a bunch over the weekend.

Oh well, it's been slow before and picked up.

No game this week? Don't know. I'll be seeing my parents Sunday, so I won't go over there tomorrow.

That's it for this week, don't you know. As always, I'll see you all next week.

Have a good Easter.

This weeks gibberish:

I can just pop them. The epson got paid, the second only one with the password to the four demons there, ate, another refurbished thing. (This weekend.

Oh well, it's been slow before and clicked up. Took a bit, but it longer the guy with went out and other? I mean, yes, a 8 processor machine originally shot, which helped a bit of changed the other one line that video card from here, but still smears olders on the time later.

Sat:

Did then went out what used machine, got paid, just pop them.
