Looked into the voice system for D5.4. Got it sort of set up. The screen shows up, so that's at least a start, but it won't let me log in. The developer wanted me to use the test app, which I finally did get installed (I asked, hey it's giving me error X do I need to remove the official app before installing the test app and only after being told to try three different other things was he like, oh yeah, you do have to remove the official one you can't just turn it off.) Thanks. So while they're looking into that, progress there is stalled.
Nothing for the afternoon.
Shopping, saw parents.
No game, came home, sites, played River City Girls.
One call, just a question on flash going away. By flash, no one misses you!

Sat:
Cleaned up around here, even though parents not coming over. What's the point? Eh, it should be done anyway, right?
Sites. Videos.
Ripped DragonHeart 2, which I got from my father. I'll trade him the disk of DragonHeart.
Got a call at 8:00 AM from the guy down the street.
Did some writing, Dolands (i.e. me) is making a plan to assault the asteroid, defeat Death (the guy not the abstract concept) and get the remaining humans back to cut off one potential source of Miruku power. Have to divide up the teams and get everyone into position.
Watched the second dragonheart movie, I mean I had to, right?
Put stuff back in the car, as it was sunny and not terrible outside.
Cleaned out the yucky HP someone gave me some time ago that's been sitting there. Stop smoking, really, it's disgusting what it does to a PC I can't imagine what you look like on the inside.
Vacuumed out the car. The trash bag broke yesterday and there was cat litter all over. Super, right? Stupid discount trash bags! I use two, why you gotta break?
Was looking up info about a series, turned out I had two movies set in that universe, but one wasn't the followup to the first movie. it was a sort of self conatined thing. No wonder they seemed so disjointed. One was a different adaption. That led to the discovery of Star Trek series 3 discovery and some new movies, which of course I had to get into.
Why is season 3 discovery the exact same plot as Andromeda?

Did game. Got through the adventure, yay! I think it went pretty much according to plan, even if the puppy in the party had to basically take us there. Maybe after I make wayfinder I can do it?

Sun:
Mostly just finished up watching Andromeda Trek. I mean Stardromeda. It's too bad the writing team over at wherever they write these episodes were so hard up they had to steal the plot of Andromeda. So sad.
Did the usual Sunday things of getting ready for the week.
Couple of calls I had to make in the evening. Spent an hour doing, what else? Basic computers tasks! "here's how to move a file into a folder." "Here's how to attach a file." How long have you used a PC? I know they've only been around since 1995 in their current form for you sad PC users out there that had to wait nine years to get a proper interface but that's a long time. You should know this stuff! Why am I the person again and again telling people stuff a 5 year old understands?
Made appointment for Tuesday, the guy down the street with some email attachment thing and of course he says he's messed his passwords up again. I believe him. How hard is it to write a password down, and then, (and this is key) just don't change it or lose the piece of paper? Hard, I guess.
Already had Monday booked the battery person, so that's why Tuesday. At least it isn't booking the whole week I guess, I've done that.
Getting ready for another fun filled week at work, hey the 18th is a day off so three day weekend if I make it to the end!

Mon:
Pretty banner start to the day, and by that of course I mean Bruce Banner.
Got out to the car and my iPad was dead, it just cycles between off and the apple, off and the apple. So that's nice. Maybe plugging it into my mac and restoring it will help? Plugging it in at work into a proper USB port and warming it up didn't help. Sigh.
Got in at work, walked past the machine that's just stuck booting for like the hundreth time and decided I would try to get it working again. Had no other work related task after all. Tried altboot, tried the more severe netboot, nothing. I either get so far into the process and then it hangs, or the one time I got it past that it gave me a million lines of errors like the drive was full or something and I eventually quit it. Tried a new drive, to see what it would do. Like if I wiped this drive would it just set it back up again? I did that for the 6655 when it had a bad drive, and it worked. Nah, this one said, no thanks. I don't really want to to work today. Great.

Otherwise, not much else. No news on why the voice system stuff isn't working on D5.4, no answer to my celiveo box, and I had to set up the other voice system because some security guy was "out on disability" and even though I was told "yes, that's it put it away" that was a lie.

Oh, the iPod was fine, I messed around with it and it turned on and after charging all day got up to... half full? Better than nothing.

Figured out the grouping for the next chapter, and added to the previous one to finish it off. I thought I wouldn't have enough for a full length story but the way it's going they're just basically starting the first of three missions! Sheesh. And it's already almost 60,000 words.

Went to second job, put in the battery, removed some ancient stuff like quicktime player, ran the updater, answered some questions, and got out in total about 20 minutes. So I called the guy for tomorrow who is just down the street and went there. Boom. Got him done as well.

As I only had one call today, and that was "can I call you later when I get a new PC" there's nothing for tomorrow. Yay.

Came back here, sites, the usual.

Tues:
Oddly, the iPod was up to 100% full this morning.

Well, got to work, had no new work. Did help Adnan with a thing, got him the right remote desktop viewer and put his machines on the DNS over at our domain so he could get a test to work.

Otherwise, pretty boring.

No calls, but Ellen emailed me she still can't grasp folders. We've been over it twice now, remember. That's probably about an hour and a half. On making a folder. She asked "would you be able to help me out" and maybe, finally, the answer should be "no."

I got a call later, a lady got one of those amazon "you bought a thing" but the number in the email, which I believed was the scam. No, it was some person in CA. Odd, how is this the scam then? Very weird.

Checked sites. Another "hour with ellen" wonder if she'll actually retain how to make a folder? Based on past experience? No.
Watched the Rogers movie. (Interrupted by the ellen hour)

Wed:
Wow, let me tell you about today. That is why you're here, right? So let me tell you.

Let me not focus on the fact still no work, no debugging has been done and the one thing I tried that was suggested to make cards work did not work. No. Let me tell you of other things.

Don talked to me. Apparently my rate isn't right, but he can't tell me the rate that is right. So apparently they're going to try to fix it, and maybe get me the extra in my next paychcek. So this one would be too low, the next one too high, and the one after that- just right. Huge confidence in the place, huge.

Found out Our Great Leader was impeached again. Neat! Liked it so much he did it twice. And this is really still the guy, some 70 million of you? Really? Really?

Then reading about this wonderful revelation the phone rings. The laptop I sold the lady last month is showing lines on the display. Yay! Of course it's a dell, and looking into the screen maybe there's two different ones? So I get to drive over there (a half hour!!!!) tear her display apart, get the number, drive home (a half hour!!!) order the part, ($50???+) drive back there (a half hour!!!) put it in, and drive back. (A- you know.) All for free. Neat! So great. 5 stars, would order again. This job is no longer worth it. Especially if I'm really getting the higher rate. So not worth it.

And Libreoffice is crashing? Huh. Put the new version on, seems to be fine.

And another call. Can't get online. So call Spectrum! She's on the way to the place so I'll stop. May as well! 

Thurs:
The 2021 pain train keeps rolling, it's a smooth ride, baby!

We'll start at the end of the day first. I put more seed in wedge mouse's cage and saw they never ate their peanut butter. I felt this was odd as even though I never see them, they always eat the peanut butter. Then I remembered finding half a mouse a few days ago, after finding the boys cornered a mouse I tried but was unable to catch. You can see where this is going. Mouse #2 has gotten out of this cage, which I guess I'm not using again? Sorry little Wedge.

Going backwards I spent an hour on the phone with someone who lost their storage drive somehow, it's not showing up in windows anymore, but don't worry they had a backup.




That stopped working late 2019 or early 2020 and windows never complained about it. Oh, the backup was "running" it just wasn't copying files from the F: drive for some reason. It had been, there were some on there. But it stopped. For reasons. Good ones I'm assuming. I'm heading there Saturday to see what I can do with it. (not much?)

Before that checked sites.

Before that did "work." Meeting day and plants. Still no word on the voice system, the card login problem, or the celiveo problem. Neat!

Before that was sweet, sweet dreaming.

So you're all caught up. That's nice. So what's going on in the future? I can only predict.

Tomorrow, emailing people about "hey, any word on X that I need to do Y?" Shopping. Seeing my parents. Stopping at the bank, want to see if my current IRA savings can be rolled into the CD now that it's about to "mature." I would rather make 1.76% on X+Y dollars rather than .1 % on Y dollars and 1.76% on X dollars. Neither will really make me anything, but it's more than nothing, right?

Then the one appointment on the weekend. Monday I have off, Sean wants to do the campaign in Battleborn one last time as it's going away at the end of the month. Forever. The servers are being turned off. Bye Battleborn, we'll miss you.

And that's week 2 of Jan. We've rioted at the capital, impeached our Great Leader (for the second time), and every day sets new records for the virus. Yup, seems about right. See you back here when we finally have a possibly competent pres! Should be great!
