2016-03-17:

Fri:
Went back to testing 4.2 today, and made a startling discovery. I had the thought, sitting there, that the screenshot button which was so pleasant to use while using the loose tablet was still there in 4.2. Just hidden by the bezel the tablet sits under. But wasn't there a glimmer of some information that maybe you could use a mouse with Android tablets?

And you can! I went out at lunch to get one and hooked it up, and it works great!

Well, not super great. The keyboard doesn't come up when it's turned on. Small price to pay though, turing it on and off.

Otherwise wrote up a few new issues I had seen and that was that.

Went shopping, and got some gifts over at Mom's. Yummy foods, a rack for my video games, and a seat for RIT bear.

Got home and put the shelf up. Moved stuff around, so now my ponies are a bit more spread out, and I have my Final Fantasy collection on display as well.

That took the rest of the night! Sheesh.

Sat:
Got up, cleaned a little.

Cliff's new PC came in and it's a really crappy dell. It has 500GB hard drives. Yes, 500 GB. We're talking about 8TB hard drive now and this machine has crappy not even SSD 500GB ones? Yuck.

Plus there are two of them, but they weren't RAID just sort of plopped in there. And no space for his old 1TB either. But hey, there's a windows disk included! I can "easily" just set up the RAID, and reload windows, right? Right?

No.

I made the RAID easily enough, but trying to reload windows from this stupid disk proved futile. I got it to sit and do something for like an hour, but it still wouldn't boot. So I had to go download a copy of Win10 Pro and make a new disk and use that. Wheeeee.

While that was going I was recording some audio thing from the web, hey at least that purchase of Audio Hijack isn't going to waste.

I had to leave and go talk to a lady nearby about skype, so I left the machine installing while that happened.

She had three skype accounts for some bizarre reason. Her original one, one with a 1 after it, and then a Facebook one. I got her original one, with all her contacts in it, back. Straightened out a few things (removed six or so stupid ask.com related toolbars in firefox, and how does it let them get installed again?) and that was that.

On the way home I went and got myself an expensive little something-something. You know, a little gift from me->to me.

Oh yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

A 10 year smoke detector for the basement because mine was no longer working. I thought it was the battery because it was chirping at me… a couple of weeks ago. Finally remembered "hey, I should replace that battery, huh?"
Put it in, still chirped at me. Looked at it and the back listed that chirp pattern as "replace" so that's what I did.

Also got some wood filler, there are some nasty cracks in my front door so hopefully I can sock some of this stuff in there, sand it, and paint the door to look all pretty again. And not let so much cold air in, perhaps?

Ah, adulthood. Responsibly. Love it!

The PC was done so I continued getting that set up. And continued. And continued. ugh.

At last it was doing the final thing, the initial backup to the external. Thank goodness.

While doing that I watched the Halo movie, it was pretty good.

Then started filling the cracks in my door.

I have obviously purchased far more of this stuff than I need, probably enough to fill the cracks in all the doors in my neighborhood. Whoops?

Started watching my weekly shows, hey Agents of Shield is back!

Sun:
Had thought of some good ideas for Susan the night before, so I finished up my shows for the week and changed chapter 187 a little bit. Then got back into writing with Chapter 188! Yes!

Let's keep that up.

Watched a batman movie and Jurassic World, then ate dinner.

Only one call today, remotely reloaded her printer software that had gone nuts, then started chapter 189.

Mon:
Basically just verifying fixed bugs today at work. Wrote up a few new ones though, like EFI crashing twice and buttons not highlighting properly. Not much to really complain about, really.

Came back here, checked my sites. Wanted to get cracking on 189 so I did a bit of that, then made a few calls. One person I got back on gmail, having reset her password (again). She had changed it 23 hours earlier, but didn't recall it. *sigh*

The other was York, so that'll be a fun trip down there tomorrow after work. For some minor stuff, I'm sure.

Finished 189 just in time, and another world is finished. About time too, I don't mean because of the pause, I mean it's 27 chapters long. It's several worlds smushed together, but that's one of the most chapters in a single place. Not by much though.

Anyway, on to the next world, as soon as I figure out exactly when and how she comes into the story. (whoops?)

Tues:
Almost got a new build today. Turns out there are some OS changes that go along with it, which we did not receive. So we didn't want to chance it having problems and it being the fault of the system not being complete so we took it back off again.

Otherwise I did write up a few bugs today, and noticed a few things that others wrote up, like the color being wrong for certain screens. Print from email was the worst, it had visual errors all over the place.

Meeting was canceled, our supervisor was headed to a store today they wanted to do an upgrade, despite unfavorable conditions there. Don't know how that went. So we'll have meetings two days in a row this week.

Went over to York, it wasn't a password issue, it was he wanted a whole new email address. He's bought a house in Florida, which begs the question do you own this store or not? How are you going to manage it from there? Whatever.

Took care of a few other things, hooking a monitor up, real tough stuff.

Got home, nearly smashed the phone to the floor when I saw I had eight messages. It turned out to only be three though. The guy I just put the new system together for, some outlook issue. Someone coming here to drop his now non-working tower off, and a BSOD laptop I'm looking Saturday, because she's… elsewhere, I don't recall where. Not around here, that's for sure.

And the tower really doesn't. work. Tried a new power supply, nothing. No bad capacitors, but his HD doesn't even power up, so something hit it hard. Well, let me be clear- his newer HD doesn't power up. His nasty PATA crap one that had nothing on it- yeah, that works just fine. Sigh.

Ordering him a new laptop, a decent one, which perhaps he will use in place of his 2-3 other crappy ones. Honestly, he has a lot of ancient stuff.

Wed:
No new build today either, so I went on a button hunt, yes, hunting down all the buttons that don't highlight in all the services. Apart from google, which is still not working until the next build.

Had a good meeting, discussed things, like why is the find rate not going down? Uh, why do you think?

And I summarized the copy results I got from before.

Laughed over the email I got from one manager or another full of sentiments like "maybe a quick fix is required" and "copy has to be rock solid." Uh, aren't those two things the opposite of each other?

Hoping the new build comes in tomorrow. They did try to make it today, but it just didn't install or something.

No calls today? Wow, that's a bit of a first.

Checked my sites, wondered why there was a package waiting for me that required 6.65 postage, and ate dinner.

Wrote chapter 190! Whew. Susan is in the next world, found out how she got there, and Meggie is totally crushed because without Sparkle, Susan is just about useless.

Or so she thinks.

So nice to write again, let me tell you.

Been blowing my nose and sneezing all day, much more than I usually do. Feel okay.

Sigh.

Thurs:
Today was made quite awful by the fact my nose wouldn't stop running. It is so red right now! It was active all last night and I didn't sleep very well, which didn't help matters.

Going to bed early tonight!

Got the new build in, started to look over the resolved bugs. And found a few new issues as well. At least I got dropbox instead of copy for a third time.

Got paid for the sports games, so they can go out tomorrow. Still no action on the drivings ones I sold. That'll probably end up not being paid for at all, sigh.

No calls again today, so the Saturday plan is Squeaker in before 10:00 to the vet, a job at 2:00 and then over to Sean's house.

Tomorrow I'll do the shopping of course. Hardly any checks but I'll put them in. Going to the post office for my mystery package, and then over to see my parents.

Sunday maybe some more writing? Only ten more chapters to 200!

Got all my stuff ready for tomorrow, so I can get right to bed at 9:00. Today has just taken it out of me.

Have a good weekend everyone, see you all next time.
