2021-12-16:

Fri: Just the usual, we did have another meeting though, not that I was able to contribute much.
Just did more reading, I'll finish the latest book next week.
Did the shopping, stopped at Wegmans, no sugar free choco wafers. I guess dark cocholate is okay so next week I'll get some of the good ones from Aldi I like and melt them down. Still plenty of time.
Saw my parents, came back here, put things away.
Did game. Got to electrify some mummies, but that took us basically the whole time so we're still only in the doorway of the tomb.
Oh, worked on the laptop since I got the SSDs too. The clone seems to have gone well. The TomTom software really, really wants to do an update and it's taking forever. Same with the kaspernksy it seems like it hadn't been updated in months. And windows needs to be updated as well, so there's still more work to do.

Sat:
Some odd upgrade stuff with the laptop, it's not done yet. Sigh. Windows failed the first time, but it did take the second time. Well done MS you didn't even need three chances.
Went out to see the guy with some issues. Got them all sorted, even his alexa. He hasn't been having good luck with hardware recently I guess.
Came back here, ate lunch.
Checked sites.
Worked on the laptop some more. I think it's finally behaving now, and everything is updated.
Then did all the christmas wrapping. Got it done just before I had to leave.
Left to do the game.
We did the game! Though we sat in the dark for a bit, they lost power due to the wind. But we did get rolling on it. He had a tree come down, caught by other trees but that's going to be a mess to take care of. Seems like I didn't lose power so that's good.
We got maybe to the halfway point? Hard to say, but at least we are moving the needle forward.
Car dropped to 2/3 by the time I got home. The wind was pretty bad, must have been worse than I thought.

Sun:
Many sticks to pick up, did that first. Anyone want any sticks? Ironically, the dead branch that's just been hanging there, that I've been trying to knock down? Still just hanging out. It's really stuck there. Didn't have too much that size, mostly small sticks came down, so it cleaned up pretty fast.
Checked sites and the daily videos.
Ate lunch.
Worked on the next Tayna chapter. It'll be two chapters! Yes, we didn't get that far but we glossed over a lot. So I had to come up with some conversations to explain why one character is staying with me, and what happened between times, that sort of thing. Filled it in nicely and the next chapter can be more of the in game stuff that happened. Not that I can finish it of course. I mean it could be a whole chapter I haven't written it yet, have I? We could get 3 chapters or more out of this adventure, that would be fine.
Did a bit of warframe, the daily scan of a "creature" for some standing.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Then more warframe. Got 10,000 standing, just enough to get the next module I wanted for the scanner, which should make scanning faster. Was having some trouble staying connected, finally realized it was Gears 5 doing an update in the background. It was going at 150-200Mb/sec which was going to make the thing I was actually trying to do not go so well. I paused it. Then it was fine. Though I later learned after pausing it the Xbox was like, oh, you paused that? That's fine. I'll just start downloading 20GB worth of Halo updates then!!! No, bad Xbox, stop trying to multitask, you are clearly terrible at it!

Mon:
Had another meeting about the card test, the one from months ago, where we sent the logs to fuji and they've sent us 0 new plugins to test to see why the card isn't working. Had nothing to contribute, but attended anyway.

I also fished a power supply out of the recycle bin that was in a dell computer and replaced the power supply in the lab I'm in. It was pretty bad, whirring and making a lot of noise. The new one is just fine. Good thing we have a "lab manager" to do things like this. Oh wait, we don't, I hardly ever see the man. Neat.

Otherwise, thought about the ending of the book, I didn't really like the end I had planned out now that I was looking at it. I made the chapter on saving the president two chapters instead, and wrote the first one. I think that's better. It doesn't give Ahti his moment in the sun, but that's okay. It makes more sense and is a better end point.
Dropped the system off and came home. No calls. Still have to call the lady from a few days ago. Checked sites, ate dinner.

Tues:
Wrote the last chapter. Spoiler: They both survive. I know, what were the odds?

Otherwise, that PC I repaired somehow switched back to the crappy old drive it used to have before I got it an SSD and cloned it, and Ken was all like "what's up with that lab PC it says it has McAfee on it?" And I was like, wha? But it was fine. In the end. And I wiped the drive, get out of here!

Otherwise, uh, not much. Lab was empty this afternoon. The other lab, I mean. Not my lab, which had me in it. Odd to see that, there's still more than a week to go.

Came back here, no calls. Checked sites, ate dinner.
No more mouse. He hadn't eaten his peanut butter for two days which was odd, so I looked for him. Gone. I see how he got out, I think. Well, maybe I'll see you again and maybe I won't little one. Enjoy scrounging around in winter do mice do the squirrel thing? Nope, I guess they forage all winter. But how are you going to get outside little one? Oh well, your problem now not mine.
Got ready for tomorrow and then did Back 4 Blood.

Wed:
Had some surprise work arrive today, a new version of the versalink plugin to use the new cards. Nice. Somehow after two months they finally made some progress on it? Where did this come from?
So I did all the models. It worked fine apart from one machine that won't scan to home. Gives an error. The machine config is the same, but it insists the password is wrong when sending the file. Both of us can't figure it out. So weird.

So nothing else of note, but at least one thing can get taken off the list.

Came home, two more calls (I had one at 8:50 last night and I wasn't getting up to answer it) so now I have three. Right, nothing for like two weeks and now on a Wednesday I have three. That makes sense. Four, actually, if I ever reach the person that called me days ago.

Checked sites, watched videos and ate dinner.
Then did a bit of Warframe and Back 4 Blood.

Thurs:
More work? What's going on here? I installed D7.6 on a machine and looked at the new feature we put in there. Problem is, it seems you can't go back! What? At least not easily according to them. Them being the people that maybe should have been more explicit in the fact D7.6 shouldn't be put on any old machine. I mean don't bother telling me anything, just assume I already know it. I probably already do! (that was sarcasm by the way)

Otherwise had the meetings. It is meeting day. Found out there was a 1.0.0 version of the scan app they posted, and didn't tell us about. Thanks for that. So I"ll look at that tomorrow I guess. I did a brief overview of it, seemed fine. It even loaded the icons faster, don't know how they managed that.
And a little bit of plugin nonsense, because why not?

Went to second job. Very slow device. Very. Slow. Took 45 minutes just to run mbam. Found 225 things too. Then I learned that a misbehaving extension in chrome can crash your entire OS with a blue screen. It's true! Who knew? Well, both you reading this and I know it now. I tried to use ccleaner to remove the extensions in chrome because opening chrome would crash the entire machine. But no! ccleaner insisted "oh, some extensions are protected by chrome." Uh, no? How about not? How about not that at all? I'm trying to get rid of malicious stuff here guys, let me do it. So I had to go manually and take the folders out. That let it start up again. Stupid thing. Finally got back at 7:00. So not worth it.

Then I had the laptop that had been dropped off. Yay, more crap for other people! It BSOD all right. But why? That is my task. Finally got it to run a RAM check. Whoops, "Hardware problems were detected." Yipes. He said it's just over a year old too. HA ha. And it gets worse. It seems soldered in. I get why Apple does it, they can actually benefit from SOC and make their machines faster. But PCs? No. Don't solder in anything. I told him to call HP or best buy, who will send it back to HP. Nothing I can do. At least that went quick.

So now we come to basically the end of the year. There's two more entries before 2022. I have a few things for the weekend. But let's take it in order.

Tomorrow is the usual, I'll probably go to the bank though I only have three checks. I could just put them in through the app I guess. Shopping, seeing my parents. Work wise I'll look at the latest scan app a bit, and proofreading. I don't think there's anything else official like.
Then game. Maybe we'll get through the second door into the tomb or whatever it is we're heading into.

Saturday I need to make the candy, wrap the gifts for the game, and come up with what I'm doing for the game this year. No game at Sean's. Then sunday I don't know.

Dentist on Monday, that should be fun. Then Nancy present day on Wednesday. We'll see each other again before Eve so look forward to it. It's officially winter on the 21st, most everyone is off at work who isn't a contract like myself, so that should be fun.

There was something I wanted to do in warframe, but I can't figure out what it is. Huh.

So that was my week. Shopping done? Dreaming of snow? See you all next week when it will be only two days to Christmas.
