2016-05-27:

Fri:
Pretty normal, and somewhat warm today.

More bugs written, naturally. Like 9 of them? 8? 10? I don't recall the exact number but it was a lot. Some things that should have worked a long time ago, and I wonder if those testing things just missed it, or somehow it's gotten worse recently. It seems a lot slower too, there was one build a couple builds ago that seemed much peppier. It's odd.

Also found out it was our "partner" EFI that added the two new screens. Our managers were mailing back and forth like "we didn't approve this" and "what's the impact here that they can just add screens that make us look bad?"

So at least they might be gone? Who can say. Or at least cleaned up.

Went to the bank, bought a few groceries as I didn't need much this week, and had the usual yummy dinner with my parents.

Came back, one phone call so I made that. The lawyer's office, the paralegal or secretary or whatever she is can't get online. And was updated to 10, so yay.
But that happened two days before she had this issue so it's not that.

Thought about Susan's next adventure. Trying to figure out if I just want her to stomp all over the space pirates or somehow have The Darkness there as well. But I'm not sure how to work it into the place, after all it can't be that precognizant, right?

Wrote up a few clarifications and additions to the powers list after I was looking something up.

Sat:
Got the morning one done barely on time. It was another "whoops I updated to win10" deal and it was a laptop. Trouble is, windows didn't seem to realize it had an attached display for some reason. I noticed that the activity light was still on, and when I hit the power button it shut down. So on a hunch I attached an external monitor and it came up. Neat. The solution of course was… a bios update? Sure, whatever.

Then down to the lawyers office. Her wireless kept going up and down, again after a win10 install. What a coincidence. So I updated the driver for that and it seemed to remain steady.

Back here I wrote the next chapter, 212, and watched the next episode. Susan has been warned by Silverstreak to not change the past, so I wonder what she'll do about that? Probably try to stay as far away from the conflict as she can.

Got another bunch of junk calls today, what is with that? My favorite 585-690 number called twice, and two others.

By then it was 5:30.

Thought I would play some skyrim. Got it all loaded up, and the first person I talked to hung the game.

Rebooted the whole machine.

Opened it back up, my save wouldn't load, it just sat there and blinked at me every once in awhile.

So I loaded the save before that.

Talked to the guy, opened another door, and it BSOD on me. I thought to myself, why am I even bothering? Thanks MS, another job well done.

Instead I watched the latest episode of Agents of SHIELD, and then more Miraculous Ladybug. So there.

Sun:
Finished up watching Ladybug, of course it ends just as it's getting good.

Cut the grass, the front lawn anyway.

Then made a few changes to the Darkbolt document, added in some Ladybug type things, like a weakness that means you can only stay transformed for so long, and making size modifier smaller a point gain rather than a point loss. Because that's just silly, being smaller is so not a benefit in a game where people are throwing energy blasts around.

Boxed up the controllers + multitap + crash racing that sold. For $8. Woohoo.

Painted the front door, at least the front part of the front door. My paint cans are starting to rust, so I had to tear the top off the one. I put the rest of the paint into three glass jars, hope they're air tight enough.

Updated my PC bios and video driver, but by that time it was time for dinner so I didn't test it with Skyrim.

More boxing up, sold the radio and another stack of games.

Looked for cute Ladybug art online. Saw one that would be just the most perfect shadowbox, for those shadowbox characters I made some time ago, that didn't sell at all? Remember them? Yeah. I'd probably make this one and keep it. I mean if the others had sold, fine, I might take a chance on this one. But Elsa? Ponies? If they don't go, forget it.

Why does nothing I make ever sell? I guess it's just not good enough.

Tried more Skyrim. Nope, still blue screened. Sigh.

Mon:
Forgot my badge, despite it being right there on the freaking table in front of me, but I didn't get far before I realized it. So I went back and then to the post office to drop off the 3 packages.

Not much going on at work. Got a new build, that had the same number as the old build. Only fax and the EFI app were changed, so I just finished up some stuff, wrote up some minor stuff, and that was that.

After work got the Mac taken care of. Mbam actually found a bunch of junk, on a Mac! Wild. I took a bunch of crap off myself, too. And found out he had been scammed in February out of $220. Doing great, guy. Doing great.

He was also saying about how the mouse "was disappearing" and I was like, dude, it's right there. So on his new machine I set up, I increased the pointer size. Gave the laptop back, ran Mbam on the PC, answered some questions, done.

Back here at (ugh) 7:00, 4 calls today. Only person I haven't yet reached is my bestist bud Ellen, she "lost" outlook express from her desktop. Oh no, the world is ending. Has she been HACKED? (no)

But the rest of the week is now booked. Yipes. Mostly cleanouts too, oddly. Nothing for the weekend yet, but it's only monday and I've got jobs for the next three days. That hasn't happened in a bit.

Went and got an HP laptop someone wants me to clean out. Had to remake my win7 flash drive, it was not booting at all.

That worked just fine, and the thing I thought was going to help avoid 24 hours of "checking for updates" is "not applicable to this pc" so… what was the point of that, MS? Ah well, we begin the slow lurch towards being updated.

Person that bought my GPS unit is just now mailing me questions about it working in Canada and some feature it has. Little late for that buddy! You already bought it. Pay up.

Tues:
Yup, he/she wants me to "cancel" the action. Nope, your mistake, your responsibility.

Anyway, somewhat boring at work today. Got the last build before 5.2, for like two hours. Anyway, did admin testing in the afternoon, the spec had a lot of stuff changed in it but the dates don't really match up. I should have seen those changes earlier. Oh well. I did write a few bugs, but not many.

I guess as we've delivered the 5.1 my hire buddy is taking tomorrow and the next day off, so with our official 27th and 30th and my 31st off I won't see him until next wednesday.

After work job was quite a bit faster than I thought it would be. Machine ran mbam in five minutes! I looked, he didn't have an SSD, just a plain old 1tb seagate drive. Odd. Anyway, got his printer going and the machine cleaned up.

Had three junk calls when I got home at 6:30, and for a wonder the laptop was just about done, so I let it reboot a couple of times to finish the updates to it. Then brought it back.

The church sale down the street is happening June 9th, which is a thursday. Ugh. That's dumb. They're dumb. Oh well, it runs until Saturday, so I can pick over the remains I guess.

Got two calls after 7:00, so I have a job Saturday because someone squirted water on their laptop. The other was the guy I just set up the Mac for. He couldn't get to certain websites. Messed with things, and he suddenly was able to. Okay.

Still didn't reach Ellen.

Got a thousand words into chapter 213 and we're moving on the next adventure. I wanted a bit more wrap up on the last one.

Wed:
Quite empty in the lab today, basically had the place to myself in the afternoon. But did that mean I was slacking off, or in some way goofing off? Ha! No. In fact I may have been even more productive as I finished up the admin stuff from yesterday and print from dropbox that hadn't even been assigned to me. At least mostly, anyway.

Only problem is, looking at the test case dates all of the services have now been "recently." Like very recently. So I have no idea what I'll do tomorrow. Maybe I'll run through Scan to email or something, hire buddy mostly did that, so no doubt he's missed some things. Just like the dropbox stuff I wrote up that the last person who did that service missed.

Otherwise it was nice out, which I know has nothing to do with work but I thought I would mention it. That's about it work wise.

Picked up the external HD on the way to the outreach place, did the usual mbam run on that. 817 things found, so… yeah. Didn't need much else, it was running as well as a crappy old XP system can be expected to.

Came back here, had no calls apart from the dentist reminder (yay, so looking forward to that one. Replace a filling and then do a cleaning with a mouth full of Novocain.) But at least I don't have anyplace to go after that, apart from seeing my parents later in the day. But I should be fine by then.

The drive works, so it's the enclosure. Didn't reach him, or Ellen, so I don't know if he wants this crappy old PATA drive in a new enclosure or just a new drive for a little more money.

Grass still has not sprouted at all. I water it daily too. Come on heat, do your magic.

Oh, my fund is finally positive again, by $40 or so. Will it ever go up and stay up?

Was looking to make sure I didn't have a power supply, and saw my snow brush. "Hey, think I should put that away? Nah, it's rochester, you'll be needing it much sooner than you might think."

Ordered the new case. Watched some neat Overwatch shorts.

Thurs:
Didn't even go a day! Aarg. Wore a short sleeved shirt today, already picked up a big scratch from something. Don't even know what! Really?

Work went fine. As I figured I did some print and scan to email. Wrote up… well all the bugs for that day not to put too fine a point on it. About ten or so? Some minor stuff to be sure, but it still should be recorded. Great job finding all that hire buddy.

Otherwise straightened up the lab before I left and turned at least some equipment off. Power savings, yo. Only a month left in my current contract, they'll start reminding me about that when I get back no doubt. Seems like they just were. My next day there is June 1st. Gonna be nice? Looks like some rain is coming, and we had some today. Quite the downpour on my way to the after work job.

Which went fine, he was just getting scammed but smartly did not pay them anything. I checked it over, hooked up his phone to the other jack across the room. And came home.

Had 4 calls, but one was a retraction so we were down to two, one was a cancel for tomorrow, so we were down to one, and then I got another right at 7:00 so we were back at 2 again.

So I have two for Saturday. One at 9:00, ugh. And one at 1:30.

No Sean this week, he continues to loathe my very existence.

Tomorrow- dentist at 10:50, getting the last filling changed and a cleaning. Then recovery, then shopping, then parent's house.

What a great start to the five day break I'm getting. Still it was my own fault, I was the one who changed the original appointment to the 27th so I didn't have to take off work. More fool me, didn't know two weeks of forced time off was coming now did I?

(No I did not)

Worked on the latest chapter a little, and now it's time for bed.

Have a good, if wet, weekend, (if it's wet where you are) people.
