2019-07-26:

Fri:

Having a day of nothing of import to accomplish to look forward to I took it upon myself to go the extra mile and write fifteen bugs. I mean I didn't set out to, but I did it. I tore into the months old visual spec for the admin area, figuring if the developers hadn't cracked it open by now to make sure the thing looked like it should, it was up to me to show them the error of their ways.

And boy did I ever. Buttons in the wrong place, screens that still look totally and completely wrong, it's madness.

Oh, and there may have been work on the next chapter, but that's unconfirmed.

Donuts were confirmed. Next week is me again? How… Oh, it has been more than a month. I guess that's fair! Stupid linear time, I can never figure it out.

So yeah, many bugs written, go me, ect. Maybe monday I'll do the same for Fax or something.

Got groceries, got to see the cute cat loving cashier after several weeks she wasn't there, and went to my parent's house. No Gabe, shoot I forgot to put Emily back. I left her on the porch. It'll be fine, or maybe she went downstairs? I got distracted by mom's stuffing.

And came home. Picked berries, got another 3/4 of a tub of them, time for pie making.

Checked my sites, videos, think I'll read some comics now.

Sat:

Really hot! I was sweating. Me! Worked on various projects today anyways and tried to stay cool.

Worked on stuffing the giant Pac-man. As usual I screwed it up. The original people that did this covered the top and bottom with cardboard, that stopped the whole "this feels like pop bottles" feeling. Well, it's still salvageable I think.

Did some cleaning, my father is coming over after all.

Car sticker applied for the registration. I know, it only took thirty seconds but I did it.

Began the great purge of 2019- got rid of a lot of stuff for the garage sale. Well, maybe not a lot, but it’s a fair amount. And I don’t want it back!

In the morning before it got too hot I did more berry picking - got enough for 4 pies (not just today, I mean in total). Tomorrow I’ll make the first pie of the season. Er, with the fresh berries, the ones I’ve made from last year don’t count.

Finished the next chapter! Kid is put in more danger in the next one, but still, how to kill 70+ shadows? Ugh. Maybe he can’t. Maybe he just leaves?

Dad at 5:30, watched the next marvel movie (we’ll get through them in about 5 more years at this rate) and then watched Black Panther after he left.

There's another house for sale on Inspiration point. $674,000! Been on the market 26 days, gee why hasn't someone snapped it up? Only $4,510 a month mortgage payment. Who makes that kind of money? I only (take home) $2000 a month. Sure I earn a little more but I'm taxed, and I have to save for retirement and new cars and whatever. You would have to earn $7,000 a month to pay that and have enough left over for other expenses. It's nuts. Really, how does anyone earn that kind of money? (ethically, and legally I mean) Crazy.

Sun:

The first, and most important thing was done right away. PIE And then cleaning up the kitchen. It certainly dirties things up, doesn’t it?

More stuffing of the Pac-man. Mom figure I could still do the cardboard thing, so I cut out some from a large piece I had (from the refrigerator?), put the loose stuff on the top and another layer of the batting atop that. Nice and squishy now. Now how do I put the actual fabric on the thing?

Oh, and it was much cooler today, or at least not as humid. Had the windows open.

Ordered a few things like replacement rope and goof off. I’m going to redo the rope on one section of the cat playground, it’s coming off he’s scratched at it so much.

Checked the daily sites.

Watched DanMachi Season 2, 3 episodes. Well, two new episodes, episode “0” was a recap. Because it’s been “so” long I guess? Whatever. The movie is this week!

Took a short nap.

Did some work on my ROM collection. Why won't turbo graphics 16 games work now? Odd. That “core” runs many different systems, and the other systems do work. It worked before. It’s so weird. I tried downloading that core again, nothing. No real error message or troubleshooting tips either. Not sure what to do with it.

Too many calls over the weekend. Hates it we do.

Helped a lady turn her portrait documents landscape, another man unplug his router. Yes, tremble at my intellectual power! Plus an appointment for tomorrow, a BSOD. I wonder if the power outage reset her boot device and she’s not booting from the SSD I gave her? I guess we’ll see.

Read some comics, general stuff to get ready for tomorrow.

A great weekend!

Mon:

Meeting on monday so while I waited for that I did… work. Yes, not working on the dwarf game. Got the meeting done with and she wanted the three new machines set up. So I went about doing that. One shipped fine, one jams in the same spot every time, one won’t turn on. Seems about right.

Had lunch and decided to work on the totally broken machine. Adnan theorized it may be the case that the SD card had something wrong with it, and we could image it from one of the working ones. Well, that card seems to be shot, I was having some trouble imaging it. But another card worked, temporarily, as it's a microSD card so not really what we're going for.

I ran out of time, I'll try a low level format of the thing tomorrow and see if I can't get it working that way.

After work didn't take long. After the power outage her PC got set to RAID for boot up, because that's the logical thing to choose. Setting it back to the normal mode fixed her issue. I changed her PC battery too, just in case.

Got back here, my package didn't come because it had been routed to the wrong post office? It went from NY city (just about) past me on the way to Ohio, then back this way, and went to fairport instead of Webster? Uh huh.

Otherwise read comics, looked into part costs in case I wanted to order parts for the dwarf game, tried to figure out why dropbox wasn't updating very fast, did a backup, talked to someone about a mac trackpad, ordered it, so busy!

Movie tomorrow! Have to pick berries too, I totally forgot.

Tues:

Pretty boring but got a new toy. With the development team dragging their heels on getting me the remote tool I was looking around for something else to do because I had finished all my assigned tasks and was looking through the bug database. They entered a task for getting the documentation in order which included the name of the thing. Ah ha, I said to myself, and went looking for it.

The actual website is terrible and gives hardly any documentation about how to actually use the darn thing, which you know, would have been nice? In the comments section of one site I found trying to find some kind of instructions I find pretty negative sentiment about it and suggestion of another, similar, free product. So I go looking into that one.

Its got a little better documentation so I set it up. Hey, it actually works pretty well. It's a bit laggy, but taking screenshots without 5 minutes of putting in passwords and two reboots? Sign me up!

Otherwise poking at it, and I got the machine working (sorta) both still need a service call. I swapped the two finishers but it didn't really help much. The problem must lie… within.

Stayed a little late.

Then went to Weg for foodstuffs, lunch tomorrow for Kishore.

Came back, made the salad, Neil's parts came, very happy, took care of a few minor things I had time for (picking a few berries) and was off to the movie. Seesh. Busy busy.

No calls, that's a stroke a luck.

Got back and went to bed.

Wed:

Mostly just messing around with the remote program today, wanted to see how it handled various screen transitions and such. No issues! I think it'll come in handy in many applications so I'm glad I found it.

Had to call service to get the printers looked at. They called Adnan back (we gave them his name because he's in the lab all the time and we figured the next time they called it would be to be let in to fix the darn thing.) Nope, they called him and wanted more information about what was wrong? Huh? How much more clear can I be? You want to see what's wrong? Come down here and see what's wrong!

Otherwise had the lunch for Kishore, many people on the list, but not many came. I brought the most lunch like food, he brought rice. The rest was crackers and peanut butter in chocolate, cookies, donut holes, vegi platters, uh fruit salad… I know it was short notice but come on! I made it without the tuna but I guess two people are gluten free, so Christina still couldn't have it. I tried, I really did. Still, two people with that VERY rare condition in one very small area? (meaning they actually need to be gluten free and are not just either a) kidding themselves or b) being idiots) I don't know, seems fishy to me. I mean it could happen, I suppose Stranger Things have happened.

Otherwise boring. No new release and no bugs to verify even if I did get one. Certainly not working on parts.

Came home, did the usual stuff of sites and vids. Both from yesterday and today as I didn't get to them yesterday.

Put the parts into one printable document. For testing purposes. Tomorrow. To test the printer. Yeah.

One call, the law office I haven't worked for in many years wanting to know what the server password is. Dude, I have no idea!

Ate leftovers and pie. Read comics. Oh, and I think my brass circles are going to work out just fine. The rope is exactly what I wanted too, I just need more adhesive. But I can do that Sunday.

Maybe Neil is coming this week? I don't know, I'm still confused. Are we testing spells or not?

Thurs:

Today just, zip, and it was gone. What the heck?

Anyway, worked on the part I wanted fixed before the meeting. One part of Neil's gift had a hole in it, and wasn't hollow like the other parts. This wouldn't do, I had to correct it. I had some odd problems with the geometry and wound up remaking part of it but  that worked, it uploaded fine. Why didn't I catch it before? Odd. Had the meeting. Got a tiny tablet dropped off and went in search of answers of what the heck they thought we were going to do with it. (Turns out it was an original tablet before the larger one we use now. Who knew?)

Then it was time for lunch to say farewell to Ted and Mitch. Got a fairly large burrito that was quite good.

Then immediately into a meeting at 1:00 I was only a few minutes late for. Talked about the UI for the portal, there's some good changes but she admitted she's not a UX person. I mean you go to school just for that!

Coming back from that I was going to call the repair guy, but he was coming down the hall with Adnan. So I showed him the machines… which magically started working just fine. That's always the way. I did have the plastic bit of the output tray on slightly wrong, that's why I kept knocking it off apparently, but would that have cause the machine to jam? To ignore the finisher altogether? I don't think so. But yet, they're both working. GRRRRR

Then had the other meeting, then got info about the tiny tablet.

Finished up the part and then finally accomplished something by putting the latest spec updates into one test case. Whew. Oh, and I printed out the parts for the game. I need the cards though. Now to cut them all out and see if the rules make sense with a lone game.

Back here I did the usual stuff, talked to Ellen, made a few changes to her site, read comics.

So what's he future look like? No idea what I'll work on tomorrow. Oh, I can read the document over Gina sent me about the remote app they use. See how it compares to mine. And I have to bring breakfast for the crew, but that's not as much work as I feared from before.

Then bank, shopping, I need to pick up Oliver's script for his medicine, and some more adhesive to repair the cat tree. I'll have tons of rope left, anyone need some rope?

Then I'll see my parents and head over to Sean's.

I'm also going over there Saturday so hopefully we can finish up this spell testing. If only Sean gives us puzzles to solve rather than enemies to fight, we'll be in good shape. There being so few combat spells, after all.

I'll probably pick berries in the morning.

Sunday I hope to repair the cat tree, work on the Pac-Man, cut the lawn? I'll have Mizzy's gift so do some mold making and more resin pours, maybe finally finish Sean's gift, clean the mouse, work on the cards for the game, see what I want to invest in next as I'll have enough money (I think). There's plenty to do! Not going to do any writing this weekend, that's for darn sure.

Some I might be able to do Saturday morning of course, we'll see. Busy Busy!

So did you get everything out of June that you wanted? The Althea blossomed, so summer is over.

You still have a few days if not. Get out there and enjoy it.

See you next week.
