2021-05-27:

Fri:
Nothing much work wise, as anticipated. May sell the laptop with the "bad screen" to Adnan for repairing some kinda car he has.
Started a new book! It'll take over my MonterUs character as we'll probably be leaving him behind for someone else. I've talked about that in the past. As we missed our time it'll be another month before we can (potentially) play that game again so we'll see how it goes. With me wanting to work on the next adventure, as it's been changed as Jon is leaving for two months or so, I don't have anything planned for next week. So I won't work on it for a while anyway.
Got gas, a lot of people there for some reason. Had to wait a bit. That's never happened before.
Got cat treats, found a larger package which I think is a bit cheaper!
Got groceries, forgot the cooler, need to remember that now it's close to 90! Wow!
Saw my parents, even an Onix for a few seconds.
Came back here, put stuff away, checked sites.
Game at 7:30, Jon was late. They took my guys apart without any trouble at all. The civilians were saved and no one was really hurt. Boo!
I'm gonna have to make the next one extra special hard, though I thought this one was going to go worse than it did (for them) but they pulled it off.
Oh well. It was a bit challenging, I guess?
Off to bed.

Sat:
Did a lot of stuff today.
Cleaned up in the morning, my parents are coming so you know what that means.
Updated my home page with the new book info. Put some new sections in, some stuff hasn't been looked at in some time, like the Element Mining game, so I have a "possibly abandoned" section and a "clearly abandoned" section. I just have the one thing I'm currently working on at the top.
Went out for the 10:00, that took 2 hours. Vista machine yay! And that crappy win7 laptop I knocked the password off a few weeks ago. Somehow it seemed slower than the stupid vista machine. Maybe 5400 vs 7200 RPM drive? Maybe. Goodness I hate slow machines.
Came back, ate lunch. Watched videos, checked sites.
Cut the front lawn.
Washed the garage floor off.
Checked sites.
Parents came for movie, did a few things like bush trimming.
Then a late warframe session.

Sun:
Started the next print first thing in the morning as it's going to take so long.
Watched videos.
Checkbook, put checks in.

Had to stop the print. The filament, in addition to being extremely fragile, is wound around itself, so it gets stuck. I didn't notice and it stopped printing for several layers. That ruined it. It had printed for what, 3 of the 8 hours? Nice. I unwound some of the spool and wound it up again, hopefully that will prevent this happening again. Anyone need a small white disk? Very round, very nice! Also the filament breaking seems like an issue. Should plastic be so fragile that just sitting there it snaps off? I don't think so.

It's almost 4 hours in and still going. Halfway there.

Watched the end of the Myst let's play. Seesh that series had a lot of games.

Thought about the new Demongate High game but Sean doesn't want to allow my concept. Sort of like the Jessie concept for the monsterUs game.
Opened the windows, cats liked that.
Sean has allowed my concept, but I have to pay extra for it. That's fair, it turns out to be only one more point.

It's printing the top layers!

Made my calls, didn't reach most. York, and others. Had 5 total, booked tuesday so I can go see york tomorrow. I think their system finally died but who can say?

Got ready for tomorrow. The last week of May begins.
No warframe.

Mon:
All the work related stuff was in the morning. Wrote up the opposite bug and closed the original. "Here's what happens. Instead of making it work the right way, please go back to the old behavior I still maintain is wrong and stupid." Whatever. I can only point stuff out, you guys have to accept or reject it.
Got the device ready for something Don wanted to do.
We lost internet about 1:30, or at least I did. Wireless or wired. It's happened before, you just can't get out anymore. Odd. Could still reach internal sites and email so it was fine.
Otherwise worked on the adventure for this week. Have to figure out how to keep my guys alive, when one character can just hit 10 people at once.
But I'm getting there, have a good foundation and now I can start looking for battle maps and chibis and such.

Called York after work, but they said things were fine. Huh. Well, sorry spacebar guy from yesterday, seems I could have gone there today. Called him too, no answer. Or not.
Got home, no calls, so I called mouse guy. No answer. Was cleaning cat boxes when he called back. I suggested a few things to try and he said he would try them.
So there's only one person left from yesterday, the "my screen is coming apart" lady.
Ate dinner, watched movies, checked sites.

Worked on finding sprites and making a map for the game.
Made my phone call. Ordered her a new screen, the whole thing not just the LCD. Hopefully that does it. I hate doing screens.
More prep for the game until we did the Monday game, for the first time in like weeks, with the others.

Tues:
I finally got more information on the "spyder" test which is the new card reader, so I performed that. On both D5.4 and D4.0. No problems, apart from the usual nonsense of getting equitrac to work. I forgot you need to click one checkbox deep in the pages so it was giving me errors. But then I remembered, and it was not.

Otherwise, not much else. No news on the cert from the voice people. Oh, right, I did proofread some test cases Ted sent us, and was like, but what about these spec lines that aren't in there? And how do we test this and this? And he said, "do you want to put them in" and I was like "not really but I don't really have anything else so sure!" so I'll do that tomorrow morning. I was finishing up uh other very important work. Yes, very, work related stuff. Not writing. No! Bad writing. Or working on the adventure. I expanded it, I added puzzles! So they get the big fight, then exposition, then hopefully they want to try saving a guy.

Went to see spacebar guy. As I expected it just snapped back in. He took it all the way to best buy? And (predictably) they lied to him and said they would need to take the whole keyboard apart? What a bunch of morons. It just snaps back in! Honest! It took me a hot minute because I had it upside down, but if, you know, the guy who took it off had just remembered the orientation he too could have snapped it back in. I have no special snapping the key back in training. But no. Once I turned it around it went right back in and was fine. Man didn't have $20 in his wallet. Uh, okay, every time I go below $100 I go back up to $100 but that's just me. You do you.

Came back here, checked sites, ate dinner. Found a new series, it's pretty old, called Journey Quest. How did I not know about this before now?

Got ready for bed. No calls, apart from spacebar guy calling to ask when we said I would be there. Little late dude, I've been and gone. Don't get calls while at my main place of employment.

Then a little more work on the adventure and then warframe.

Wed:
Spent a lot of the morning working on test cases for the redesign of the config sheet. 72 of them to be exact. Ted had a lot of them "condensed" into one case that should be two, because there are two reports. So his test case was "the report should print" but honestly you have to call out "do this one" "then do this one" as two test cases. So they went up a bit. He also missed several spec lines for some reason, and I clarified or corrected stuff he got wrong.

So that took some time.

Also attended a meeting I really didn't need to be in about a bug I wrote up. The string needs to be changed from "scan with settings" or whatever it is to "cancel countdown." That's all. A whole hour meeting for what to do, and I just told you the best thing we can do (no software impact, no spec impact, makes the thing 100% clear what it's going to do) in 30 seconds. That's life in the big corp I guess.

Otherwise thinking about plot for the next game, making some tweaks, and then thinking about plot for the book. I think I have the bones of an idea? Maybe?

Went over to do the setup, but someone had already copied stuff over. I did a few things, turning off his old router, getting the printer set, figuring out her facebook password, email password, that sort of thing.
I got cookies.

Then back home. Sites, dinner, the usual.

Got ready for tomorrow, now I'll see about game stuff.

Finished that up I think. I have the map, the sprites, and the puzzles all worked out for Friday.

Thurs:
Fairly standard meeting day. Joe is taking some time off soon so we won't have his meeting a few times. But that's in the future, where future me lives. Present me lives here with you, in the present. Which is now the past. So what happened in the past?

Nothing too exciting today. Stuff is coming, as usual, but at the moment there's no action. I should have checked in with the voice people I guess. But if they don't want to get their product working with the newer systems, well, I'm not going to be the one to drive it. I would really like to put that project behind me though.

Wrote up more of the plot for the new book. I have the first two days worth of plot. I have the direction I want it to go in, I just hope I can steer it in that direction. I guess we'll see.

Watered the plants, and went over to good will. Found three kitty things.

Back here I checked sites, and had one phone call. A guy you may recall me talking of earlier, who I sold an external wi-fi adapter to. He says it no longer works.

So what's coming up? Probably more outlining tomorrow, don't see much work coming my way. Some of the "upper crust" is taking the day off anyway. So I doubt I'll get any requests or anything.
Then shopping, I don't know if I'll see my parents. Then home to run game. Will we get through the whole thing? I hope not, it has to last two weeks because it's two weeks until Jon leaves us.

Over the weekend I want to start the 14 hour print of the final piece of Mizzy's gift. (Yes, 14 hours. If I start it at 8:00 AM and it prints perfectly it'll be ready just as I want to go to bed again. Ugh.) I want to move some berry bushes around. I may move some little trees. Do some weeding. Oh and I'm going to Sean's for game. So that's Saturday afternoon. Hopefully it's nice Sunday so I can do outside stuff. Cloudy and 60s, perfect. I got the screen for the lady so I'll call her tonight, along with wi-fi guy so that will be the whole day taken. Neat.

But I do have Monday off, so I'll have another chance at everything if I don't get to it all.

Well, I have a 10:00 but the other lady didn't answer. And of course I forgot to try her again. Oh well.

So that's the end of May at hand. We come to the middle of the year. Hope it's been better for you than last year. See you all next week.
