Welcome back. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Friday went fine, the lady at my morning appointment did indeed erase some necessary things like Office and Foxit in her misguided search for more disk space. Silly. I restored what I could, of course she didn't have any disks for Office, her using it illegally and all. She's thinking about getting a new machine.
Came home, called the person having the firefox trouble, got them sorted out.
Then a quick check of two machine, one with a scanner to hook up, which was already hooked up and working fine. Okay. And just checking another machine which was also basically fine. So that only took a half hour. Went to see Grandma, who wanted to know if my house was heated with coal. Yes Grandma, I use coal, and I read by candlelight.
Then home. Did something unimportant, probably more Fallout 3 unless I miss my guess.
Up at 8:00 on Saturday to help with the move. And I thought I had crap. Huh. Anyway, once Sean arrived (late, shock and surprise : -) we packed a rather large moving van full of boxes and furniture, and then unloaded it. Little did I know there was already a ton of stuff over there, making my collections feel rather inadequate. That took until just before 2:00, the official time of beginning for the spell testing.
Basically a tournament sort of thing, where we were allowed to cast each spell once. Some revisions to the spell casting rules and tweaking of spells, though we hardly got through 1/3 of the total list of them. It was funny, everyone (but me) was trying to cast everything instantly and then complaining about the other guys not being effected. Duh, stop trying to cast instantly! But that went well, and then I got to see another episode of Dresden, where he once again used magic all of one time. Some wizard.
Today it was nice and sunny so I got the driveway 3/4 done, having used the three barrels of coating I purchased and still having the part behind the deck to finish. Couldn't exactly drive out over it to get more, now could I? Nope. Also calked the breezeway windows and painted the front windows. The grass sort of needs cutting, but the neighbor's is much worse, so that's fine. Just need to waterproof the deck and finish the last part of the driveway and that'll be that.
Got four calls, not including the three calls by My Buddy Bruce, displaying hitherto unseen levels of ignorance and stupidity as is his right and privilege as an American. Also watched Torchwood and Dr Who, did dishes, wondered why making custom guns, armor and mechs in Perfect Horizon cost no XP but making simple magical items in Pyre requires buttloads. Is that a word? Magic should trump technology. Every. Single. Time. Whatever tech can do, magic should do cheaper, easier, and more reliably, because otherwise: it's not magic!
Anyway, half an hour until Making Calls time, then I'll get ready for another week of amusement and excitement which is sure to come.
Oh, got a letter from my credit union, if I don't have direct deposits of $500, a "minimum daily balance" of $500 or an "average aggregate combined balance" of $2,500 or more, they'll charge me $7.00 a month. Because apparently those ones and zeros they store in their computers relating to my account are just SUCH a burden below those numbers. Really? You're charging me to use my money to lend to others? You should be paying me. Oh right, no such thing as interest anymore. Right. And they're trying to sell this as some kind of improvement for me? I'm not buying it.
Now if I ever did have less then $500 in my account I would be in big, big trouble, so it's not really an issue, it's just that they feel the need to do this at all. Honestly, are all those mortgages you guys hold that make you $100,000 over the course of 30 years FOR FREE not doing it for you now? Because I'm having trouble seeing it.
