2017-07-21:

Fri:
Felt like I was coming back home today at work. My manager (who wasn't at work today, along with others who take "summer hours" every friday off in the summer. Must be nice, you know, to be a manager while we contractors get squat, but I digress) wanted me to help John go through the database for the "new staples" project which is sort of the old staples project but different? Anyway, we got my old machine put back with the staples tablet, loaded the new software, and I was off.

Got through all the tests I could do, as the email stuff wasn't working. All but a few were actually fixed. Neat.

There's going to be a lot of work to do though, to smush it into what they want it for.

After work I went to the bank, went shopping, decided not to go to my parent's house to look at their cameras because leaving the store would just get me to delivering the CDs at 4:55. And I expected everyone expected me around then I figured the camera thing could wait a few days.

Came back here, put my stuff away, answered calls. Another for tomorrow, 4:00 as my father couldn't come over.

Checked my sites, worked on the gift more, remodeled the front part, see how they like that.

Sat:
Bunch 'o work today. Went right out in the morning and picked up the laptop. Started the conversion. Didn't take long, it had a USB 3 port, but this didn't solve the whole problem. From the time the little swirly dots came up to the time the login screen showed up was 1:30. Far too long. Well, needed to leave so I brought it anyway.

The noon one went on and on. His wireless was really slow on two laptops. But not my laptop. We finally figured out on the one it was bluetooth of all things. When it was turned off, the speed went up. Bizarre. The other one I didn't have much luck with. But I did update his video driver so his photo program would show the photo he wanted to work with.

*shakes head* PCs, honestly.

Called guy but he didn't answer. So I went to the 4:00 and got there about 3:30. He was there trimming his banzi trees because apparently that's a thing, so I set his new PC up. He was using some crappy, dusty, ancient XP system. Good riddance.

Back here I looked more into the delay problem and discovered his video drivers were years old, and unsupported. These are windows 7 machines people, not that old. Long story short I turned off his second video card (it's a laptop that can switch to a better one when gaming because it can't just not use as much power when it's not I guess?) The problem was gone.

So I'm taking that back at 11:30 tomorrow.

Checked my sites, ate dinner, picked another pie worth of berries and we're sort of coming to the end of them. I'll make a pie tomorrow, it's too late now.

Sun:
Lots accomplished today, too.

Got up, uh, fairly late for me. But then the fun began. Returned the laptop, he was pleased. Went to get gas, bought some waterproof sealer for the tub, and went to my 12:30. She was there so I tried to get her back online. They've got her router somehow set up to just act as a single device, the wifi lights are on but nobody's home. Finally just hooked her router back up and said forget it.

Back here I made pie, cleaned the old sealer out of the bathtub and redid it. Worked on getting my replicator to work to make something for Heather, vacuumed the floor (and got a huge thing of hair out of the hose). Put new music on the iPod because I have gone all the way through the playlist. Checked my sunday websites.

Got the part printed, we'll see if it's good enough and then print 2 more.

Got ready for tomorrow.

Only one call, a printer acting up but it was fine when I called, so there. Nothing for tomorrow? Work plan is to see what the other tasks were that Adnan/Chris were doing and take some of them?

Mon:
Made myself useful by going through the file formats to see what the preview looked like, if the output was the same, and if all the formats they said would work did in fact work.

I was not disappointed to find various issues.

With that done we're basically waiting until Wednesday for the new build to do anything else, so I went back to "my" lab and did some more typing. Only a little though, I decided to have the ghost attack and didn't want to set up a whole combat while there.

Came back here, checked my sites, ate dinner, finished up chapter 19, painted the little plastic doodad I made, made some phone calls. Didn't reach one person, the email lady who had 13,000 messages from a few days ago.

Nothing for tomorrow!

When I looked yesterday it was like thunderstorms every day this week. When I look now it's only partly cloudy. Something missed us I guess.

Tues:
More work than I expected today. They wanted network traces of certain things, and it turned out some feature is turned on/off differently across platforms and in the end it didn't matter anyway.

I did get some typing practice in, I think this third one is going to be pretty short, compared to the other two. Odd, when I came up with all kinds of plot for it at the beginning, I was afraid I had too much. Odd.

Spent a half hour going over email with someone, they finally ran out of space on RR with over 7000 messages. He didn't empty his trash so even though he deleted a bunch, nothing happened.

And didn't reach the lady from yesterday.

Picked enough berries for another bag, that's four of my own and one pie. That's 20 cups of berries. My parents got at least that many, so that's a lot of berries.

Checked my sites, got ready for tomorrow.

Finished chapter 20, just for the heck of it.

Wed:
Good amount of work today, we got a new build that had more of the features we so missed before. So I actually went back and forth between getting more information for thinprint folks and looking over old bugs for the tablet group. Still one unfixed one, tisk tisk.

Came home, checked my sites, ate dinner. Worked on chapter 21, and spent 1.5 hours with email lady again moving her thousands of messages around. This time to thunderbird, because it has no auto import function even after all this time. Thanks guys! That's finally done, so hopefully she has an email that works.

And I get to go to bed!

Warm out though.

Thurs:
Work, but it's more like busy work? More looking over the new build. Started a list of things I noticed, but it's still fairly early in the process. Better than nothing.

After the meeting I couldn't sit there and stare at the thing anymore so I went and finished chapter 21. It was only an hour.

Came back here, checked my sites, ate dinner. Made some fried zucchini, because someone brought a bunch in at work and everyone else had already taken some.

Spent 15 minutes on the phone with a guy trying to open a file. Yes, that bad. Didn't reach the other person yet.

Got ready for tomorrow, proofread 21. Got my garbage around, it'll go over tomorrow and there's a lot of it for some reason. Yay?

No word from Sean so the current plan from now is more meaningless activity at work, then to the bank, shopping, and over to see my parents. No jobs yet for Saturday so I may have a very quiet weekend. Maybe finish book 3? You never know!

The other guy called me back. He was no help in helping me help him… help me determine his issue over the phone. Maybe a bad monitor? Honestly, I could have talked to his pet cat and learned about as much as I did for the whole conversation. Because I already had his address. But whatever, I'm so super amazing (and humble) I'm sure whatever it is will be a piece of berry pie, which I also had for dinner.

See you at the end of July.
