So, the weekend did not happen as the Awareness had predicted, Sean's knee was bothering him too much so our plan to visit the Transformers Con in Toronto was called off. Maybe next year.

 

So instead I tried to figure out why my refrigerator was running constantly and making a non-pleasesnt noise. I pulled it away from the wall and conceived of a new definition for the word "filthy". Also the thing was shoving hot air at me just as quickly as it could. After unplugging it, oh look, the plug isn't even a 3 prong plug, it's shoved into an adapter, how nice, I took the fan off and cleaned it. Then vacuumed underneath the whole thing. Put it back together. The heat went down but it's still running like a madman and making a very annoying noise. 

 

Sigh.

 

They do appear on craigslist, so while my first thought was to call the repair person, my more rational thought was to just replace the thing, it'll probably be cheaper. Sigh.

 

I also read 4 Dresden books. Well, three and a half. Sean gave me a bunch of them, but it turned out I had already read 3 of the 4 so I just kind of skimmed the first three to remind myself what happened. I finished the bulk of the last one today.

 

Also today I cleaned, wrote the addition to Chapter 7 of the Carlita Tale and started chapter 8.

 

In one of the Anime magazines I got for christmas was an article on how Robotech was being worked on again, in the form of a movie. I found it and watched it. It was subtitled in some weird language, but I could mostly ignore that. It was… okay? But that reminded me of trying to get the original series so I'm downloading that now too.

 

Friday, lets see, I painted the little extension off the back of Grandma's house. Had game with Sean/Mizzy, which went well, but sadly it's tough to create an adventure for a doctor type character and a twelve foot tall walking tank character so I got to run around the city looking for clues and using none of my "pull trigger, they die" or "hulk smash" type skills but instead using the skills I threw in at the end like "cryptology" and "information gathering" I thought I would never use. Just goes to show, you can never know what you're going to need to know. Dinner was once again delicious, as was the pie.

 

I did do one tiny job in the morning, her mail was going to the "wrong" place, one "inbox" folder instead of another. Cry me a river. Sigh.

 

And I didn't write about Thursday. Hum. The first one was indeed a dead hard drive, couldn't recover anything from it. Sorry. Dropped off the now repaired laptop. Uh, another failure, thought it might be the power supply but after changing it, the same thing happened, it would power up for a second or two and then die again. At least I managed to save her files to the laptop she had. Then a beeping machine, which luckily just needed the RAM reseated, which I did. Ran the various scans, no other problems. Then finally a cleanout, removing Norton solved some of their problems, but their Frontier speed was just terrible, and it was dropping packets all the time. So I advised them on what to do there.

 

Only three calls over the weekend, one that worked itself out. One I didn't reach. And a very odd problem with a password. She says typing it in doesn't work, yet the system finally does let her in. She was logged in when I called. So as she was in I had her make a new admin account she could log in from, hopefully thus removing the password from the other account. She didn't want to try it until later because she was afraid she wouldn't get back into it to use the machine later tonight, so she's going to call me back if it doesn't work. Also was treated very rudely by someone whose name I was given a few days ago. Just fills me with confidence. So it's just rude guy tomorrow, and then probably over to Grandma's to do some more beautification of the house. Shopping of course is also a given. Possibly paperwork as well?
