2018-06-01:

Fri:
Had a very nice first day off. Spent some more time outside moving a few more plants around and cleaning the driveway off and doing more cleanup. The one bush with one stalk and leaves looks pretty wilted, you better make it little plant.

Finished chapter 11.

Watched more The Expanse.

Scheduled my Greenlight install as the box magically appeared. Monday the 4th at 8:00. Be a little late to work that day.

Went shopping, got the cats their stuff, and then my stuff. Saw my parents and came back to more episodes.

Sat:

Sun:
Another gardening day. Finished up the series 2 of The Expanse and ate lunch. Then went out to mow the back lawn. Noticed a lot of baby berry bushes I would normally have run over as they weren't in the "official" spot. But then I had an idea.

Why not continue the line? Right along the fence on my side, a whole line of bushes? Easy to tie up and the neighbors don't rake their leaves anyway. They just blow through the fence. What if there was a barrier there to stop them doing that?

So I went around them, then dug up 12 tiny stalks and put them in place. Gave them a good drink and my best wishes for them to grow big and strong. Let's get berries everywhere!

Checked my sites.

Mon:
Took care of a few things today.

Straightened up the basement for my appointment next week.
Cleaned out the car because it was such a nice day out.
Finished a book.
Ordered some things, like tiny ethernet cables like I've always wanted to make, a replacement USB wireless adapter, and a replacement sponge for my mop, because the screws rusted out and it was yucky.
Oh, and a new PC to refurbish as my last one went to Ellen.

Put volume 2 up on my site.
Took a bunch of stuff apart, including my old celling fan which has been hanging around for far too long.
Cleaned up the house in general.
Laundry.
Watched another movie.
Took a bunch of hard drives apart.
Scraped some of the nasty resin stuff of the upstairs floor where I had spilled it and it hardened all over the place. Only got about half way though.
Cleaned the garage a bit too.

iMac guy called. Said he couldn't get in to his machine. Tried it again. Got in. Sure.

So that was it, no after work work for tomorrow. Going in early of course, and staying an hour later. Ugh, 10 hours. It's because I'm losing so much time this week. It's going to be a long dentist appointment Wednesday and of course Friday to have my points taken off the teeth.

So I'm off to be early. Still, I accomplished a bunch of things today, so I'll be nice and rested and ready to… what am I doing at work lately? Ah, the card icons. I finished that. Well, I'll find something I expect.

Hope you all had a good holiday weekend.

Tues:
A very long day, and about to get longer.

Started at 6:00, getting into work at 7:00. I stayed until 5, hopefully providing a firm foundation for the rest of the week.

Got through two services, scan to USB and dropbox. Wrote up a few bugs, as usual the majority like there were not 6 other people doing the same things as me.

But I finally headed home, but not before stopping at Staples to drop off a desktop, 3 laptops from my stack which still seem quite high, and a bunch of batteries.

Once home I checked my sites, watered everybody, and made my one phone call. She had already been helped by family, so at 7:15 I had nothing for tomorrow. Tomorrow, of course, being my long dentist appointment. If I continue to have nothing (as I hope) I can stay late that day and that will work out for me in the long run. (As I still have Friday to think about.)

Wed:
Weather = perfect. Around 90, and to quote a phrase "I'm loving it."
Forecast? Rainy and cold. Sigh. But I enjoyed the heck out of it today.

Went to work for 2 hours. Got scan to email almost done. Honestly, we can blow through these things (or we should be doing so) like they're nothing. But some people are still on their first assigned project. I've done four. What have they been doing over there? Not working, I can tell you that much.

Went to the dentist. Sadly, they had canceled the second part, the filling I needed. Should change them $25. They said they called/texted some time ago but my call history says otherwise, chumps. Anyway, we did the cleaning, no trouble there. I did undergo a form of torture known as X-Rays, then a further torture where they wanted to measure bone density of the jaw. This involved not some high tech device that 3D modeled my skull or anything, no. It was jabbing me with a needle, 6 times per tooth, and calling out a number between 2-5. I didn't have any 5. Some 4s and some bleeding. Yeah, you poked me with a sharp needle again and again. But at least it wasn't horrible. Oh wait, it was.

Back to work!

The second half of the day was testing the latest AT&T stuff. Apparently we got 150 build last week, but the email never was sent/arrived? Something. Huh.

Verified my one bug was fixed, and wrote one other very, very minor one. Two words need to be around changed, because it totally changes the meaning of the sentence. Get it done!

Came back here, having stayed late again. I don't have to get up early tomorrow or Friday now! Yay!

Sat outside for a time, just soaking it all in. The heat. I'm talking about the heat.

Ate dinner, the lady I got the HDMI switch box for, oh and here's a cute story to derail everything. I found an HDMI switch box, and the type of cable I needed for her speakers, in the car when I cleaned it. Forgot I had that thing. Grr..

Back on track. Her machine won't come up. I had that problem when I was there, didn't think anything of it. Double Gurrr. I'll have to turn off all power saving features, the machine was working her audio is routing through it. It won't show a picture though. Sigh. So that's tomorrow.

Then Friday back where I was to get the points off. It can't happen quickly enough.

Checked my sites, took a walk to enjoy it while it lasted. Seriously, rain for the next two days.

Got my mop replacement. It was in an envelope, along with the Amazon stuff (kitty treats and water supplement). Totally covered in tiny red spiders. Wha? I left the packages out there. You have fun, little guys.

Thurs:
I think they did, they were gone but the morning.

Went to work at the normal time. Certainly did the normal things. With the prospect of testing the scan to google service I just tested 20 days ago I could have written chapter 12. I could have, but that would have been wrong.

No, instead I just tested the same service I've tested for three years, one more time. I wrote no bugs.

But then, neither did anyone else so I'm in good company. I checked, adding the three lowest people together still does not equal the number of bugs I've written. Adding the two highest however, does, so just keep that in mind.

Left work and went to second work. As I feared, her machine was hung up, and when I rebooted, just as with last time, it came back to doing the update. It got stuck at 82%, hung, I had to reboot, and it rolled the update back. I decided to try the USB flash drive I have with the latest as it was 3 versions of windows 10 behind, and it slowly and tediously did the upgrade. I love this process, by the way. It crawls up to 100% and you think "oh, it's finally done."

NOPE HA HA LOL

You get to watch it reboot, crawl up to 30% again, reboot, then 75%, reboot, then 100%, reboot, then go though "we have some more updates for you." "they keep you safe!" (oh really) Another reboot and finally it's done. Only took from 4:30-7:00. How is this acceptable MS? HOW DO?

Getting home I saw something strange. You know that bare patch from months ago? When the water authority dug my front yard up in the winter, leaving a patch of mud and snow and anything? And how I raked it smooth again, and put grass seed down, and watered it lovingly, and actually got grass to grow there again?

Well, the water people decided that was unacceptable, came and dumped a bunch of dirt on the new grass I was growing, and then put more seed down? What? Now I have to start over? Thanks a bunch fellows. I know you were trying to help or whatever, but it was fine. Grass was growing. Why do people keep doing stuff to my yard without permission?

First the tree in the back, then the berries, now this. Get off my lawn you… oh wait…

Meanwhile, back in reality I had one call, in Chili no less so that reduces my time to get to Sean's because I'll be down the street. It's a cleanout, don't do too many of them anymore.

So, looking to the future. Something I've been looking forward to happens tomorrow morning, what could it be? Oh well, I'm sure I'll remember sooner or later.

Then work, oh right it's sending in my estimated taxes, what a silly!

Anyway, then work, not writing, no. Work.

Shopping, made no money so there's no point going to the bank yet. But I'll go shopping, see my parents, and that will be Friday.

Saturday is Sean day, either shadowrun or my game, we don't know until Sean shows up, or not.

Then Monday is greenlight day! 8:00, and then going into work despite the new internet speed I'll have. Eh, it's fine.

So that's the week. No rain today, went out and watered everybody. Maybe some tomorrow?

It's june already. Father's day, Sean and Mizzy were married 9 years ago (NINE YEARS AGO) and we're halfway to Christmas. We've had like one nice day, and today, and it's going to be winter in like two weeks. I tell ya.

See you next time!
