2014-06-12:

Fri:
Went a couple of places, didn't have too many troubles. Put in the RAM for the guy I ordered it for a few weeks ago. (Was finally going to be "near" him) It didn't recognize it, not as a 2gb chip, anyway. It stayed the 512 that was in there. Huh? I entered the BIOS on the recommendation of a website and that seemed to do it. Huh.

Nearby did a cleanout. No problems there, just the standard removal of stuff.

At 3:00 I went to see the book guy about his power adapter, but it was fine now? So I guess I ordered that power supply for nothing. It was only $10.

His website was suspended, I guess because of low traffic. Didn't see anything about it being suspended in the FAQ but I guess they do it. So we put that back up.

Then went to see my parents. Got the tour of what I needed to do when they are gone, and came back here.

Got the RAM for the desktop, so I put that in.

Worked on proofing, inching forward.

Sat:
Called some people but didn't reach them. Desktop guy and a guy I didn't reach Friday.

So I did more proofing. This one is the longest book, thank goodness, and it's getting there. Nearly managed it, actually, but left at 5:25 to go over to Sean's. Little did I know we wouldn't actually do any game, thanks to internet problems and not having Mizzy's character sheet. We wrapped up a little, then watched some stuff.

I did get to see their cute new puppy. A rescue from someone that was neglecting her after getting her, she's so thin! Well behaved, isn't too barky. Gets along with Fritzy somewhat, at least they aren't going after each other. She was nice.

Sun:
Finished proofing book 2.5 and started book 2. Only two more to go, the first two. Thank goodness. Made a few minor changes, things I thought of that tied the books together a little more.

Mowed the back yard, it was nice out. Then it clouded up and rained, and it's quite chilly out. Is it summer yet?

Watched the extended Advent's Children I had downloaded weeks ago. Just needed to get away from proofing for half a day. I got to page 36/121 in book 2 though.

Busy day tomorrow, and a bunch of driving to do, too. But hopefully nothing too strenuous.

Mon:
Quite the busy day, as I thought. Shopping went fine, just the usual places.

Left about 12:00 for my first one. Regular cleanout, and the machine needed it. Their network stuff was messed up too, had to run a netsh winsock reset thing to get their printer talking to the machine, and make windows update work. Odd I never have to do that sort of things on a Mac.

Stopped by the fish hatchery and mushroom house on the way back. Well, I passed the house, but I stopped to see the fishy. They had little ones and big ones.

Returned the updated PC, then went to take care of some things for a person moving from a PC laptop to a Mac laptop. Good choice.

Then to what I thought was a router replace job at 6:00, no such luck. His "online" light was off, so I think it's the service or the modem. I showed him the light and told him to keep an eye on it.

Back here with just enough time for some dinner before my 8 calls. Shesh, how did I get that many? So I have just as many tomorrow and I spent until about 10:00 with a guy, trying to figure out why his java and MSE weren't working. Ran TDSKiller and it actually found and removed something. They started working after that, so go figure. Haven't run that tool in a long time.

So I didn't do much proofing today, sigh.

Tues:
Did some jobs, didn't make a lot though. The morning one was a simple power supply replacement. That went fine, and I went over to see the lawyer guy because he was complaining about getting knocked offline. Despite his machine being one room over from the position of the router, his signal strength was at half. I gave him a USB adapter and that brought him up to full bars, so we'll see if that solves it. If so I'll sell him the adapter.

Out at 12:45 to see another machine that wouldn't power on. It also needed a power supply, which I didn't have. I had my used one, so I set that up and ordered two at home. Went over to see the accountant guy, apparently the machine I put the PCI card in for the dual monitors wasn't acting right. It wasn't. Didn't think just doing office type stuff would really stress a video card, even with it being plain old PCI. Maybe dell's implementation is really bad? I don't know, but giving her the newer PCI Express card I now had seemed to clear the problem up. Sigh. Now I have two PCI cards and no PCI Express one.

Back here, then out at 4:45 to see about a new machine that the guy had built himself, that wasn't getting any video signal. He didn't have a monitor, he was just trying to hook it up to his TV with HDMI. I should have brought a monitor, but he had another TV with a VGA port so we just used that. Whew.

Back here, made a couple of calls, so I have a bit of work tomorrow as well.

Got to page 104 of 122 in book 2, wanted to finish it. Oh well, tomorrow, and then start book 1. Nearly done. Again.

Wed:
Not too bad today, a little cool, then a little rain, then muggy and sunny, then rain again.

Job wise, went to go a see a late 2009 iMac that was "freezing." I didn't observe this, but left her some temperature gauges and did a bit of vacuuming on the vent in the back. Haven't heard anything from her today so maybe all that helped? Also turned her screen brightness down, just for completeness.

Then my 2:00 was installing the parallel card, that went fine. I forgot, on the day I originally went over to change his router, I saw 5 out of state license plates that day. One from Ontario. It was weird. I just kept seeing them.

Then at 4:30 I did a cleanout. I don't think she ever had an antivirus, as it was 1500+ days since her last update was run. *shakes head* Still, her machine could have been worse, and I got it cleaned up.

Finished proofing book 2, and started book 1 again. Found some things, of course. Did the grammar check, and started the voice reading it to me. I'll be doing any new books quite differently so I don't have to go back and forth like this, let me tell you. Got up to 30/131 on the pages.

At 9:00 I went over to feed everyone at my parent's house, so I don't have to get up early. Everyone was fine over there, so I came back, did a little more proofing, and then went to bed.

Thurs:
Got a bunch of checks today, oddly. Not complaining about that, got the last of the money owed to me by the hotel, my payment from the mortgage guy, and even from a guy I helped over the phone, who I said didn't need to send me anything.

As far as regular work went, just the two jobs, the psychotherapy place, with printing issues and general oddness with their bizarre billing system software. And a person with a dying external hard drive that they kept using like a champ, rather then thinking, "Maybe something is wrong, and I should stop using this." Nope. They killed it. She said "oh it's like two years old." I took it apart and it was dated 2008. That's not 2 years old, lady! So I ordered her another, took out some firefox add ons, that sort of thing.

Did only a little proofing, just being lazy I guess. 64/131 at the moment.

Got lots of calls for today, so I have a booked up Friday. Nothing for Saturday, though I assume we're still on for game, though I haven't heard anything.

Want to have the proofs done and ready to print by Sunday, so that's the goal. GOOOOAAALLLL.

My parents' animals are all fine, when I went over to see them.

That about wraps up this week. Wished Sean and Mizzy a happy anniversary, it's been 5 years already since they got married. How?

See you all next week.
