The con was in a different place this year and the dealer room (really the only room) was pretty packed. There was one really, really good cosplayer walking around, a woman playing Swoop and who had mechanical wings and everything. I wonder if she was the same person as the Aracnid costume last year? Anyway, there were a good number of women there, more then I expected for such a venue. Saw a couple of other costumes which were not to the same standard. Sorry. Did it help she was hot? Yes, yes it did.
As promised I look at pony stuff on the way down when they stopped at toy stores. They have the cutest little plush Dashie, "evil" colored Princess Celestia, Gala figures, and the cutest little Miniature Twilight Sparkle you could ever hope to see. For $5.00. I want it all. Then at the next place I saw a complete set of miniatures for $15.00. What the heck!? I should have bought it, they want twice that on ebay and $6.00 more on the toys R us website. Jerks.
Hey, remember when we went to Canada and got more money back then we gave them? Not anymore- we got less. Wow.
Anyway, the con. Right. Didn't see anything cool I might want to give as a gift (like those sweet, sweet M&M figures dressed as star wars characters I bought for dad two years ago) but I did see a few pony related things. Like… three? First was this 4x6 picture I just had to have for $3.00

Okay, maybe only two things. Couple of really good artists sitting there drawing. Anyway, to further drive home the irony I continued to not purchase anything transformers related but instead picked these up for $20 apiece.

Yup, Sailor Moon. At a Transformes convention. Take that, TFCon! The ear tags read "Made in China 2011" but the butt tags read "Made in China 2010". Still making sailor moon stuff someplace? Why have I not heard this? Sean says they're in talks to make a reboot series of it.

Then we caught the tail end of a voice actor and producer answering questions and saw what the "third party" companies had up their sleeves for the coming year. Some nice stuff, I admit.
All in all, nice to get away for a day, and the border guy didn't even give us a second look when we came back. How did that happen?
Grandma was asleep and fading Friday, and mom was there with a social worker, so we left together.

Otherwise, came up with some cool back story for a Shaman I want to write down tomorrow and read a Dresden book in the car. It's the last three days of July, enjoy them...
