So today! Quite busy thank you. Oh, right, I didn't tell you, yesterday I went to see my good friend Sylvia who swore up and down she would be there at 11:30 but by 12:00 at the latest. Uh huh, I get there at 11:30, and leave at 12:30. Where aaarrrreeee youuuuu?
My first one turned out a little odd, I thought maybe her hard drive was dead, but I also couldn't boot from a CD. But my linux USB Flash drive (why are you looking at me like that, everyone has a linux USB flash drive, don't they?) booted fine, so I knew the machine was okay. Well, the bottom CD drive wouldn't open, so I replaced the top one and it booted from there. I did manage to get the machine working again, and sold her a DVD-RW to boot.
Not buying those plexor drives again. The little plastic shield thing on the end? Yeah, it extends literally from one side to the other, rather then being half an inch inset. Of course PCs have that little decorative plastic around everything, and this prevents the drive from actually, you know, opening? Great. So I had to tear it off, defeating the purpose of the cute little thing anyway.
Then answered some Mac questions, easy.
Over to my friend Sylvia again, I swear that woman is... I don't even know. Heather would know. I've got a new client for you little sister.
Then over to the guy who bought heather's system. Turns out it was the side fan making all that noise, who would have guessed?
Back here for just a bit, oh, what's that, Lou can't print? I was just there yesterday and hooked everything up properly? Too bad, maybe tomorrow. Went out at 4:00, looked at two machines, no problem really, and then dropped the system with the new HD off. Back at 6:00, dinner!
Finished watching SJS adventures. Talked to my buddy Bruce some some. Hey, there's another client for you! Now he owes time warner and frontier a ton of money but woe, woe, woe, it's not my fault. Can't take him anywhere, I guess. Sadly I believe it's the law they have to give you basic telephone service so they can't just cut him off. Pity.
So back to Lue at 9:30, then a tuneup after that.
Had the most brilliant idea for Dad's birthday, but of course the website says "item is currently unavailable". Gee, where have I heard that before? But I don't need them, I can actually do something really, really clever (I hope) for the same effect. HA! Take that, you invisible, failure, monster, cloud, hover-y thing. Stinky. Jerk. So I'll buy most of the parts tomorrow, and hope Mom has the critical piece or knows where I can get one.
Oh, the critical piece store, why didn't I think of that? Maybe Dan's Crafts N Things? Hummm.
