2022-10-13:

Fri:
Oliver ate some food.
Meetings at work. Christina gave me a thing to do Monday. Just a simple test, make sure the machine is on a release that's relevant and allow it to upgrade to another release. Shouldn't take more than a minute of actual work even if the length of time the upgrade takes is closer to an hour.
She was working on LDAP stuff.
Did the shopping, didn't need much. Wonder why? Oh right rice.
Saw my parents.
Came back here, checked sites. Checked the 4.0 upgrade. It's, uh, different. As a new player I would say this was a great change. There should be tech slots and then just "everything else" slots. But before when there were tech slots, generic slots that could hold tech or items, and just item slots, people put tech in the general slots. Shocking, I know. The game should have counted up how many tech item you had and given you that many tech slots. Not just taken those upgrades away. I only had 3 but others have many, many more. They are rightly somewhat miffed. Would it have been that hard to just count the tech and assign that number of slots? (up to the max of course) I think not. Okay it's "unfair" to some with less tech but so is just pulling the rug out from under people. (I have since learned there was once a galactic reset and everybody lost everything? Yipes! That puts this into context I guess).
Got the keyboard so I'll put that together tomorrow.
Oliver ate a little dinner.
Then game.
Didn't get far in finishing up the last adventure, we talked rules and then Jon had to go.
But we carried on with just the two of us, and got at least part way into the princess adventure.

Sat:
Put the laptop together. It's updating now so it looks like it went fine. I may use this one as the loaner, as when Kim was using my original one it was making a weird noise. No customer for it at the moment anyway so I may as well just carry it around with me.
Got a call from the vet finally! Sheesh, I called Thursday. That's... A lot of time between. I'm going in at 11:00 so that's a good thing.
He's blocked up. They showed me an x-ray. We've got some fluid in him, if he's not, uh, clear, by Monday I have to go back and they can do a more "manual" removal, let's call it.
At least we have a physical cause now, so that's better than I shrug and "maybe it's lupus." It's never lupus. He tried every box when he got home but nothing came out. Poor kid.
Went to photo book guy. Found a good add on for Photos as it doesn't do books anymore I guess. Will he be able to do it? EEEEehhhhhhhhhhhh. Probably not as he can't follow a simple set of written steps. I had to keep saying "What do your direction say?" "Is that the next step?" Madness. Why did I even bother? I mean I can only do so much, and I wrote down very detailed "click here, then here" sort of steps.
Back here, no poops yet.
Checked sites, videos.
Went to Sean's for game. We didn't get through the whole adventure but at least it wasn't quite the rules lookup fest the last session was.
Also watched the next Fast and Furious movie.

Sun:
Started the printing. With each piece taking 3 hours my goal is the entire base done by today!
Cut the back lawn. Why are leaf clusters getting blown off the tree? That's never happened before. I've got a whole pile of them. Like the tips of branches have just been ripped off. Very odd.
Checked sites.
Got the LCD in, installed that no problems. Yes, it was delivered on a Sunday. I didn't need it that badly, but okay.
Looked at the lenovo I got years ago as a replacement for the dell I carry in my case. It has way more storage (32 vs 128gb) so I can actually upgrade windows on it. Not that it matters I just use it for troubleshooting things but it's probably the better machine. But then what do I do with the Dell? That amount of storage makes it sort of useless. Thanks, Dell.
Looked into upcoming midterm elections. Why is there no site that just lists all the candidates that are running, by state? I have no idea who's running, is it strictly Democrat vs White Supremist or are there several candidates to choose from? I know there was a primary which I guess narrowed it down, so does that mean that's it? One choice per posting? I can't find out! And then it's a surprise when people don't vote. Yeah, maybe because it's confusing and there's no place to go to get unconfused? Maybe?
Got two more pieces printed, started the last bottom piece. Looks good. Give them a bit of a sanding and then have to figure out how to actually glue them together.
Tried to watch the latest Pantheon, but it seems eps6 and eps7 are the same? This is odd. Though sanding the other piece hasn't helped that much and it still looks "dirty" I need to try washing it more. Maybe I won't sand them...
Tried to get Oliver to drink more throughout the day. Only partly succeeded.
Cleaned up a bit.
Looked for the replacement part one last time for the snow blower. Ironically I can find a replacement for the SJ617E sadly mine is the SJ627E. What's the difference? Who knows! It's the same size, at least the diameter.
Looked into a new unit. Here's the quandary: Do I get the one that looks all metal, and may hold up better but is $1000 or another plastic piece of junk that's only $200? The $1000 model looks good, metal body, but is battery powered. And self propelled. I don't want that either. I want just the build quality but plug in with no other frills. Why don't you make that product? It's either plastic garbage or features I don't want. What the heck???? Several companies make them, but none makes the unit I actually want to buy? Do companies not do studies of this sort of thing before making a product?
Got ready for tomorrow.

Mon:
Took Oliver in. I found a rather large, uh, "offering" but I expected more if he was cleared. So that must have been from someone else. From what I could tell yesterday he's given up trying to go. He just lay on the pac-man all day. So I doubt it was him. And I offered him a few crunchies (he's not supposed to have anything if he's going to be sedated) and he wasn't interested sooooooo... In he goes. I suspect they're going to find fibers from the ropes his scratcher is made of. I had that thought yesterday, he does chew on them every so often. If it's that I'm going to kick myself, I mean it's sort of my fault but how did I know he would actually eat the darn stuff? I guess Heather's cats eat spider webs and fluff they find on the floor so I guess they're only picky about actual food? That they're supposed to be eating? Weirdoes.
Did the upgrade test Gina wanted.
Not much else at work. Just worrying about Oliver.
Couldn't drop the laptop off right away, came back home and checked sites.
While waiting (for a half hour) for the guy to get there, the vet called. Oliver was all done, and is going on laxatives probably forever. Great. At least he already knows to come to get his gas twice a day, we can just work another thing in.
So the guy finally came home, handed the laptop over. Went home, had dinner. Then picked Oliver up.
He just went on the pac-man and lay down when we got home, so he's probably not feeling great at the moment. Hopefully he'll recover now that he's all cleaned out.
Made my calls. Three of them, suddenly, for reasons? Thunderbird lady again, really just type the freaking name in the field. It's very easy. Another person down the street with a greenlight issue, and facebook questions. Ugh. No thank you.
Didn't reach the first lady. Second person wasn't greenlight, he's trying to hook his TVs up to the router. Says the closest one is the issue. I'm going there tomorrow. And facebook may be an account issue? Hard to know. That's saturday before Sean's. As they say in Star Trek, every moment of pleasure must be balanced by an equal moment of pain.

Tues:
Not much at work today. The guy did come to get our two newest devices working. He started, didn't finish he was running out of battery power he didn't have his cable. The other device that can't print a config sheet I upgraded, and now I'm getting an error and can't do anything with it. He says he needs to ask about that one.
Helped the developer guy get a versalink back up and running.
Then over to see about the TVs. Put a new router in that he got. Also got to pet a 20 year old cat! At least supposedly, he looked pretty good for 20 based on what I've seen of 17. Love you Angel!
Removed ropes from the scratchers, in case Oliver has been eating them. My allergies did NOT like that. My eyes are so red and itchy right now guys...
He's acting better, ate his snack and is running around normally at the moment. Wegmans hasn't called with the prescription, how long does it take to get a laxative? Is it special for a cat?

Checked bank account - order a snow blower after deciding which one. I got the more expensive one, sigh. I just hope it holds up better.
No calls.
Checked sites, ate dinner. Worked on gluing Mizzy's parts together. Thank you, hot glue. What would we do without you? I think it'll hold, I've got a better glue going on the edges with the hot glue holding the whole thing together. It's the only way, you'll have to see it to understand why.

Wed:
The guy came to finish up the install of the new machines. Why did he load such old software? Well, we can't have that! I at once upgraded it to the latest. Shock! Surprise! One machine now complains about supplies and the toner being incompatible, as if tiny flakes of plastic can be "incompatible" with a device, and the other just endlessly reboots. I've written both things up. They love me. I also wrote up the fact the other devices can't print a config sheet to save their lives, and the fact trying to copy or print only two or three things in a row causes the machine to stop copying or printing. Neat! Are these things going to be ready in time to ship? I doubt it.

Otherwise, oh, a meeting about a new project to upgrade attached card readers. We did this project once years ago. Neat. But I guess it's so specific we couldn't have generalized it back then so we didn't have to do this work, now? I guess so. Well, I relish the chance to do the test Chris did all those years ago. No really! You can believe me.

Came back here, Oliver ate up his snack and asked for more by his special bowl so I gave him some stuff. He ate most of it, a good sign.

Checked my sites, videos. Got a call last night at 10:30. He first apologized for calling so late. Hey, here's an idea. If you know the thing you're going to do is so wrong you have to apologize for it first thing... don't do it. That's right! Just wait to do it, or don't do it at all, situation depending of course. In this case, did you think I was going to spring out of bed (where I was at the time) to answer your call and fix your issue? No? That would be totally unreasonable? Exactly! So why not just wait until tomorrow to call, in the morning at some reasonable hour? It's not like you would forget, right? Of course not. Anyway, he's going on about his mouse not working or some crap.

Naturally, I didn't reach him. And his mailbox was full sooooo, yeah.

Thurs:
Meeting day. But first I put a different software (from two days ago?) on the device that was continuously rebooting in an attempt to make it stop doing that. No luck.

Had two meetings in the morning. One about what to do with the upgrade tests, and another right after that about what to do about the log in times. The thing that's been going on for like a month.

Worked on the test plan for the upgrade tests. Hopefully there isn't as many as I fear?

The the two meetings in the afternoon, don't know when we're getting another onedrive app, he didn't really say. Dodged the issue, most like. Suspicious.

Called the guy from last night, he said everything was fine now, so fine. I went home.

Checked sites, ate dinner.

One call. Just a scam popup, as she didn't let anyone onto the machine... sorry HE it was her husband that was the dumb one and talked to the scammer, she got to call me and clean up after him. How typical. ANYway as no one got into the machine I said it was fine, that's the end of it.

Did some NMS, made some stasis pods, just to see if I could. Turned out well, they're about the most complex thing the game allows you to make, requiring tons of raw materials and blueprints. I made two. They sell for 15 million apiece so I'm just going to give them to Sean/Mizzy if/when we ever play again. Puttered around, moved technology from one ship to another now that I can do that. Repaired something on it, but the broken part didn't go away. Now I'm stuck with it? Bug? Gurr.

Looking ahead maybe we'll start the upgrade testing tomorrow? I don't know.
I'll for sure do the shopping, maybe stop in to Wegmans to see if the prescription is actually hanging around somewhere. Still didn't get called about it. Very odd.
No bank. But seeing my parents and then more of the card game with the others. Pick up with Jon where we left off on my mission to warn the town something bad could be coming. Whoops, or not. Jon's partner (I think fiance??) is having medical issues.

Saturday is over to see Facebook guy, and I guess he has an iPad he "doesn't know how to use." Uh, touch it, and things happen. It's not hard.

Then over to Sean's for the last emberhaven before Stan goes in for surgery.

Sunday I hope to do more printing, and maybe redo the ropes on the scratchers.

So that's that. We're about halfway though this month already. The very faint ringing of bells seems to fill the air. The trees are all changed and geese are flying away. Wonder what all that's about?

Byeeeee!
