2017-06-02:

Fri:
Went to el dentist, he wants to take care of a small area. Usually he said they would just watch it but with the trays in it's better to take care of it now. Sigh.

Back here I checked my sites and worked on the latest chapter.

Had a rather lengthy discussion with Sean about the Skyebourne, and how I think they're boring. I didn't convince him but I know what the third novel is going to be. Whoops, there's going to a third? Ahahahah you sillies, of course there is.

Went to the bank, did the shopping, saw my parents and their turkey.

Came back and finished up chapter 20. Made some calls. Have one for 9:00 tomorrow, a good old bios password lockout by the sounds of it. When will people learn to stop letting random people that call them on the phone onto their computers? I mean really, what's it going to take?

Sat:
Yup, it was. As the last backup was several years ago I figured I would reload it. Of course his CD drive was busted so I had to replace that to even begin. (It was an XP system of all things, so I don't have that on the flash drives) I thought later that maybe I should have tried it, maybe it would have been fine because it probably hasn't changed all that much? But I didn't.

Came back here, didn't have long before my 1:00 because the reload took a while. Ate lunch at least.

The RAM worked in the MacBook so that was good. Then went to Sean's. We actually stayed on track fairly well, finished up the guard adventure and nearly finished up the pet shop adventure. At least we "caught" the guy who was supplying the animals. But was he working alone? We may never know! (Until next time)

One funny thing was I got attacked while walking back to the pet shop with my father. It was the same demon we had tangled with earlier and he was like "this isn't part of the job, this is payback for earlier." And I was like "oh really?" and snapped my fingers, blowing his head off. "I was holding back before."

Priceless.

Sun:
Straightened up around here, checked my sites. Watched the latest Dr Who. Put the latest comics into the database.

Cut the front lawn and moved a bush I keep running over/getting my electric cord caught in. Flourish in your new home, tiny bush!

Left to see book guy. Was there two and a half hours. More of the same. Oh, I didn't erase those 9 pages. The computer must have done it. It wasn't my fault such and such, there must be something wrong with the machine.

No, the problem is you.

Finally got back, did the back lawn. It was fairly nice today.

Made my calls. An hour on the phone with one person. Twenty minutes to click start and then an icon, right click something, and choose something from a menu. And somehow this person was given a license to operate an automobile. Crazy.

And then she couldn't get into safe mode so there was nothing else I could do. Her machine is obviously taken over. So I'm going there at 10:00 tomorrow.

And that was basically the day. So much for finishing book 2 over the long weekend. Yeah!

Mon:
Got up and checked my websites for the day until it was time to leave. Got into safe mode easily, look you just press f8 when I said to! So simple.

Her machine was pretty well taken over, 771 things cleared by mbam. Still was at 100% of CPU usage for windows update though. But it had none to do, and was win7. I turned it off. It was only a single processor machine, so that process taking 100% of the CPU was really dragging it down.

Cleaned up the rest and got back here.

Ate lunch, finished websites and then Chapter 21. Watched a movie because it was my day off, darn it!

Tues:
Did a crudload of work, that's a technical term, at work today. Was wondering if I should email Mitch/Sue about when the final build came out because we must be getting close. Well, an email showed up with the schedules and there was something called a pre-release so I thought, "hey, I'll do the full test on that for grins and it's my job or something?"

Did the first thing, SNMP and was about to start the second. Then I had a thought. I was going to do this testing on the black and white product as well, no? Why not just have two tabs open and do all the testing twice- immediately? After all, doing the same things in two places is far easier than doing the whole suite and then doing it all again, right? Plus if the behavior is different it'll be easier to tell!

Well, I grabbed the lonely corner machine I don't think anyone uses because it was still at very old software and got it up to scratch. Then did the SNMP stuff there and then a bunch of the rest of it. Nearly all, though I hate to brag. Found one difference, oddly. The area with the description of something that just happened doesn't get updated on the black product. Weird.

Then using CWW at the end of the day using a setting I've used many times no longer works. It tries to login as "zadmin" instead of just plain "admin." Even erased the machine so it shouldn't know about "zadmin" at all. Still did it. SO STRANGE.

So I have something to look forward to tomorrow.

Went to see the modem lady. She had some weird splitters, and trying one got the internet working but not the phone, while the other was the opposite. Huh? She decided to just cancel her land line. Good choice!

Came back here, ate dinner, checked my sites.

Two calls, the outreach place so I have thursday booked, and talked to not dial up guy anymore. He's doing something but when I look at screen everything works just fine. So figure that out.

Wed:
Finished up the complete test in the morning. Figured out the odd CWW thing, well, I was told what was happening, anyway. There was an area I had never visited hidden behind a whole other screen so who would have looked there? Anyway, it had the odd zadmin password and reseting it there made me happy again.

The other machine dropped off maybe one or twice and the test was done. There will be a final release I'll have to test in a few weeks. They say this stuff should be ported to the newer product which should be fun. Apparently there's no common code between them, so all models have to be tested as though it wasn't a family of printers? We must have that wrong somehow. And there's like 12 models? And the UI looks totally different. It's insane. But that's for another day.

Did more typing practice, got a lot of words typed out in the afternoon.

After work job was fairly simple. The printer he "couldn't use" was fine, I think it just lost the default somehow or he was using a different one? It worked fine. And the email he "couldn't access" I just put his password in and it was fine.

Then went to his house, the mouse he "couldn't use" was the wrong one, he has two identical ones on the table there. I put the batteries into the other one and it worked just fine. And the printer he needed "hookup up" was hooked up, it just needs cartridges. So yeah, that was, uh, useless.

Came back here, ate dinner, checked sites.

Couple of calls, so I have one for Sunday (new mac setup) and didn't reach one yet.

Proofread chapter 22. Two more chapters and I'll have reached the length of volume 1. I think I'll have at least that many, if not another one or two.

Thurs:
Had a rather miserable night, actually. Around the time I was getting ready for bed my ear started to hurt. I think I have an ear infection! Yeah, that thing I haven't had since I was, like, twelve? Used to get them all the time as a kid. Where did this one come from? I don't recall having the flu recently, and I'm not blowing my nose any more than usual. In fact given the pollen I see on the solar heater outside I'm surprised I'm not worse.

So what the heck?

Breakfast was a challenge, eating really hurt. Bizarre.

Spent the morning microwaving and holding to my face a sack of rice. Good thing we kept that old microwave in "my" lab. Neat-o. Not sure it helped cure anything but it made my ear feel better.

Poked around the software, thought about the next chapter, and in the afternoon (lunch was another trial) did some EIP stuff. Still fine. CWW is causing me headaches though. Stupid error messages, what do you even mean?

Went to the outreach place, cleaned up a machine and came home.

Ate dinner, made my calls. Booked the 17th? How busy are you lady? And you have a Mac, and you're trying to print? Just hit the plus sign. I don't get it.

Otherwise a laptop is being dropped off and I have one for Sunday.

Sean's at 1:00 to tear his deck apart, he's getting rid of the pool. Can't imagine why, there would have been plenty of opportunity this year to use it. Like, twice?

So tomorrow I'll probably fight with CWW some more, whatever. Bank, shopping, see my parents.

Then whatever jobs come my way Sunday I guess. Ugh.

Going to bed early tonight. I'm not that tired, but let's not get too behind, right?

Welcome to June, have a good stay.
