2017-04-14:

So I loaded a machine up and tried it. It works, for the most part, but the information about what you did isn't always updated properly. New bugs written.

Was not able to do the CWW stuff, the printer I was using was not in the list, and I tried to add it and failed.

Lost Chris, he's on vacation the next week. Have fun!

Out to the bank, then shopping, then parents just as expected.

Came back here, three hang ups so the only call was to the guy about his desktop. It's run two days now without issue, but he's getting a new one. Moron. Just changing to an SSD makes your machine fine. Whatever.

Fallout time!

Sat:
Busy morning, if you count two jobs as busy. At least the sun is out and the snow is melting.

First job was dropping off the PC. Got everything changed over, no problems.

Then over to the lady who wanted to change her wifi password into something bizarre. And of course yahoo/frontier was complaining she was accessing the service "insecurity" whatever that means so I set up her stupid "application specific password." Little did I know the guy had like 6 portable devices. Really. An iPad, a phone, and at least 4 iPod touches. Who buys that many iPods? Naturally trying to get the settings into all of these devices when they all try to be "helpful" and put settings I do not want in was a hassle. Finally figured out how to trick them, and put in what I wanted.

Came back here, ate lunch, and played Fallout until about 5:00. Ate dinner.

Looked at the TV mom gave me, may be a blown fuse.

Worked on the paragon character sheet thing, made sure if you moved a document the recent items list would track it.

Put the Susan edits in, figured it was only a day early.

Watched some anime, went through some disks I had found. Seems I don't have episode 1-25 of D.Gray man? How did that happen?

Sun:
Busy day, but only in terms of goofing off.

Started with fallout 4 of course. Threw myself at some really deep crater full of things that wanted to kill me again and again. When this become not fun I spawned in a rocket launcher. Then it became fun again! Win/win.

After lunch I looked outside and realized there was sun out there, #herecomesthesun.
So I got the rest of my christmas lights down. Even picked up the bulk of the sticks.
Trees have tiny buds and some have tiny leaves. Excited!

Cleaned up the house, tore apart that stupid PCs that been sitting on the breezeway for like two months. Watched some Slayers, their magic is way more powerful than anything in Paragon. (jealous!)

Did my paperwork, only 10 jobs in March? That's odd, how did that happen?

Played some cities skylines, a game I discovered I'm horrible at. Yes, who knew? I watched a video about starting your city but it was weeks ago. I'll have to re-watch it. I think I am trying to plan too far ahead? I just ran out of money so fast. Where's easy mode?

Got ready for tomorrow, watched some youtube videos, and it's back to work tomorrow. Should be warm again, thank goodness.

Mon:
With the weekend test out of the way (it failed, sigh) I didn't need the printer added to CWW and got on with the clone testing. Nearly the same results as with the older product, so that's a good thing.

Otherwise I verified a few bugs were fixed, wrote a few new bugs up, and then did a tiny bit of work on the paragon database. Fixed a bug that had been messing me up a little in terms of backspace. Simple stuff. Stupid thing.

Also thought about the next chapter, what I want them to fight, specifically.

Out to my after work job, which was supposed to be short and sweet. Set up the new cable modem. In and out. Nope. "Oh, can you straighten my cords out?" "Oh, can you go to my mother's house and look at her VCR from a million years ago?"

Uh, no? I told you I would only change you $20 because it was supposed to be a fifteen minute thing. Not an hour and a half. (Guess who said yes anyway! Yes, this guy.)

So I didn't get back until 6:30. Ate dinner, checked my sites, and made phone calls. Oh look, I have the rest of the week booked, and one for Saturday. Book guy, getting his printer working because somehow he screwed even that up.

Got my keyboard in, I found another mechanical one super cheap. Using it now, it's a really nice one! I like it for typing much better than the other one I got. Weird, shouldn't they be about the same?

I call it a keyboard, but the manual says "great hand-feeling, enjoy the fingertips pleasure, experience stroking enjoyment" making me think maybe it was something else I ordered??????

Came in a bizarrely huge box, too. Weird.

Watched the cities video, saw I think what I was doing wrong.

EVERYTHING!

Oh, sorry, got a bit shouty there.

Tues:
Well I intended to work. Honest, I went in to work thinking "I know, I'll do the cloning tests on the other series of machines." Nope. Oh, and I learned the C machines are color, and the B machines are black only. Who knew? Probably a lot of people. But I digress. After loading the software I was still having trouble getting to it, so I talked to Paul the office manager.

"Yo yo yo Pauly, what's up whit yo network, dog?"
"Nothing up with my network, beeeeeeach!"
"Oh no you didn't!
"Oh yeas I did!"

Actually it was somewhat more professional than that. But as it turned out, another of my coworkers was loading the build onto the other B type machine we had. And it had the same problem. So the software is busted. Sigh. Forget testing then, I guess.

I did close a bug, and worked on the paragon stuff a little. So bizarre, if you open one window it's fine. If you open a second window, both are fine. If you open a third window FROM the second window… the second window stops responding altogether. Huh? But if you open the second and third window from the first window, everything's just peachy. What sense does that make? None, I tell you.

You know, I think I like this new keyboard better than the old IBM one at work. And better than the other "gaming" one I got, that doesn't really even feel mechanical despite being sold as such. Weird. Love this thing.

So that was today.

Went over to the old guy and took care of a few more things for him. Nothing too major, and I was back here to eat and check my pages.

Think I'll go try some cities skylines again.

Much better this time. My city didn't immediately crash and burn like before. In fact my only real issue at the moment is one traffic snarl leading to the industrial area. Have no idea how I'm going to fix it, it was just poor planning from the start. Hard to redesign too, I put my landfill right there. Can't get rid of it until I can do incinerators I guess. So that problem will either be with me for some time or I just start over and do a better job next time. It's a learning experience I suppose, not like I have hundreds of hours in this city. Just a few.

Wed:
Another day of no work news. Verified one more bug, poked around, one minor bug written about a typo, who cares?

After work job was not too strenuous. It wasn't the wireless at all, her router was just fine. It was the modem... Or something. I messed with it a bit, plugged it in directly to the PC, and finally it started working without really any direct action on my part. Weird. Tested their speed, why are they on the 50mb/s plan? These people are in their 80s. They still open up the stupid AOL Desktop app. They have one iPad. They do not need 3x the bandwidth I have. Isn't that plan really, really expensive.

A decent company would monitor that and after several months of using a fraction of their total alert them that they are paying too much. But that's a lot to ask.

Came back home, ate dinner. Worked on my traffic problem. Partially solved it, I raised the road in and out of the city and simplified the end that pours into the industrial area. There's still some backup, but not the huge line of cars there was.

No calls, thank you. Did some writing work, and went to bed.

Thus:
Still not much to tell. Apparently the office move is closer than we thought, maybe by the end of the month? Went over to see our new lab space. Here's a question, why can't the people moving into our lab have that space, and we don't have to move anywhere? No, that's not how these people think.

And my after work job was completely unnecessary. I found no problems and they couldn't reproduce their "issue" of "pop-ups" and they couldn't get online for "ten days." Sure, sure.

Came back here, ate dinner, checked my sites, got ready for tomorrow. Not many checks, only two, but one is for $350 so it's getting put in.

Why are cats insistent about being on laps? It's not even that cold out.

Well, it's easter this week and some people are taking off work tomorrow. Hope you all have a great one, whatever that means for you.

My plans, I have one job (book guy) for Saturday at this point, and maybe the guy who has left his desktop here will come as he now bought his new machine. (HAHA, moron) No news from Sean, so that doesn't look promising.

Friday the usual, bank, shopping, and seeing my parents. Then Sunday… the zoo? I think we've gone to the zoo on two Ester occasions previous? And my father was sick for one of them. We're all healthy now though. I mean apart from my sister's CRPS. #CRPSAWARENESS

Fairly early, I've gotten ready for tomorrow, I think I'll go play some fallout.

See you all next week.
