2019-07-05:

Fri:

Fairly busy today, but of course going out to lunch helped with that. Is helped the right word? Finished up the timing tests and did the rest of the reliability. You know, so the other team that was supposed to be doing it didn’t have to. Why did they do such a random selection of the tests, anyway? It’s so weird.

Went to lunch. As Joe wasn’t even around it would have only been the three of us, and Adnan didn’t come so it was just Giuseppe and myself. And the dev team and a few others I don’t really know. We were sort of celebrating the sale of our first Kiosk, apparently one of the test environments decided to go with it. So we’re officially a product now!

Updated payment to make sure bug was fixed. It is, but my card reader is all screwed up now. It won’t take cards, shows different stuff than anyone else. So bizarre. Why just me?

Went shopping. Was going to buy the pasta stuff, but realized it would be a week before I would use it. I can’t keep spinach leaves around that long! I’ll have to go Wednesday on the way home. Having fed everyone at my parent’s I didn’t go over there again but went home. Checked sites.

Went to Sean's, we got our bugman back. Neil made a copy of himself, the schedule now becomes a bit odd for the next month. So we probably won’t do any more spell testing for almost a month.

Sat:

Went over to feed everyone. Only one more time to do it.

Worked on the can opener. That was an annoyance and a half. They give you a piece of paper to serve as a template for where the holes should be drilled in the cabinet. A piece of paper? Really? Why not plastic, or metal? You know how easily paper deforms? You know how difficult it is to tape a piece of paper upside down to the bottom of a piece of wood? Millimeter precision is called for here. My smoke detector does it correctly, it’s in two pieces. The bracket piece, and the main piece. You just screw the bracket into the surface, and you twist in the main piece. We really couldn’t have done that in this case? Or provided a thin sheet of metal or plastic with some holes in it?

I should have made a template out of wood. Had I to do it over again, I would. (get it?) I could have bolted it to the piece of wood that would show I had the holes in the right place, then just drilled though the wood and it would have been right.

I got it up, but it’s not screwed all the way up. And I by that I mean I screwed it all the way up. But it’s solid, I don’t think it’ll go anywhere.

Went home, ate lunch, went back out to see the lady with the freezing machine. Yup, her fan was totally clogged. Cleaned it out. Done.

Ordered her a battery, poked around, made sure it didn’t hang and was up to date.

Back to my parent's, cleaned up, made it all nice again. Well, as nice as it can be. I was just down the street after all. Had I known the install would have taken that long I just would have brought my lunch and eaten there. Ah well, hindsight.

Back here watched a few things. Nothing much else interesting to report.

Sun:

Very busy today!

Feeding cats. I found Satin, she wasn’t in the basement at all. Just shoved way back on a shelf hiding. Silly kitty.

Back home I began the planting of the tiny sprouts, I suddenly had a whole bunch of them! So they’re all in the back where the messy bush was. Hope they grow! I also cleaned a bunch of clingy vine plants out of the berries by the side of the driveway.

Found lots of milkweed. Like 12 plants on the side! The seeds I’ve been struggling to grow and finally have a bunch of tiny shoots but there are a dozen full grown plants right there? How did that happen?

Put comics into app, so my Spitfire and Nightmask collections are complete. Doing it with the phone is a bit faster than the iPad too, it seems less buggy.

Checked sites, watched the daily videos.

Then tried to figure out something for Heather’s birthday. Guess I got it taken care of.

Parents back safely, no more feeding their guys for awhile. They brought back lots of stuff because they were running out of stuff. It’s true. (it’s not true)

Reading comics, watching Alita made me realize the comics I have are actually the sequel. Who knew?

Did some cleaning, got ready for tomorrow, cleaned the mouse, end of the month stuff. I’ll be ready for the week!

Mon:

We got an official preview spec so first thing I got some test cases ready for it. Also went though the print specs because the preview stuff was taken out. Made some changes to them, all was good. Of course it's Monday so one must go to the meeting. Had the meeting.

Other things of note- did copy timing tests. Tried to recreate the awake->won't wake up bug but no dice. Tested a bug on old software, it had a different workflow so it's not the same thing.

Then went to see "new iMac" guy. He didn't have a new machine at all. What? He apparently thought he should have more photos in Photos, so I put his photos in Photos so he could photo while he Photoed. Got all that? I don't.

Came home, ate dinner, checked sites, talked to a lady for 45 minutes updating her libreoffice which wouldn't open certain documents. Odd. Glad the upgrade worked though. I also made another appointment for tomorrow, yay. It's right down the street from #1 and both seem like they won't be long so wish me luck.

Put another optional rule into the optional rules document.

Did more reading of comics.

Tues:

Counting the days down. We got an update with two whole fixes in it, so of course we had to run half the reliability test again! Yay! Thankfully because we all had literally nothing else to do we only had to take 1/4 of it, so it didn't take too long. Anyway loaded it up, poked at it a bit. Certainly did not do any 3D modeling.

Parking lot is emptying out. Looking at the calendar is also amusing, the number of people on vacation continues to go up by the day.

Wrote a few bugs, in fact many were written today, more than yesterday.

Oh, and you can't tell this but my allergies are flaring up something fierce at the moment. Itching eyes, sneezing, the works. Sheesh, what set this off?

Anyway, the two jobs after work were not too bad, just some general stuff so I didn't get home too late.

When I did I got busy doing the usual. Dinner, sites, talking to a lady about downloading a sewing machine manual and she didn't have foxit reader? How did I not give her foxit reader? Odd.

Then another guy and told him to decrease the resolution of his monitor.

Got ready for tomorrow.

Wed:

It was work, work, work the whole day. Do you believe me?

We did a new build of the upcoming next generation of software. It looked, er, a lot like the old generation. I checked out my "resolved" bugs but most of them were reopened. Sweet.

One was actually fixed though, so it wasn't all bad.

Things I did not do: Nearly finish the 3D modeling for Neil's gift (only the head is left) OR finish the latest chapter. Nope, just working.

I cleaned the lab up a bit, got rid of some garbage, put some things away. There were papers hanging around from 3 years ago. Doesn't that place ever get cleaned up? Apparently not, I had to do it.

Very quiet there the whole day. Can't imagine why.

Came home, remembered to get the stuff for the macaroni salad though, and the battery came in for the lady so I went out to put it in for her. Now I don't have to worry about it. Nice.

Back here I did the usual stuff. No work tomorrow!

Thurs:

Got up and made the salad for later. Nice and fresh.

Then worked on Neil's gift. I actually don't think I did too bad a job on the face. I know, I shocked even myself. Of course, I honestly have no idea how good it really is, but it's at least… acceptable?

Nothing spectacular to report after that until I left, went over to Kate's house. Sean was there already, yay! And so… many… strangers. Their baby is a year and a half already so he was running around and figuring out a thing called "language" exists, so good for you little man. Otherwise played a dice game three times, had some food, and left with Sean back to his place. We watched the third Insidious movie and I came home.

Didn't put this up until Friday, but what can ya do?

Looking towards what I'm doing today, refining the model so I can get it sent in to shapeways more than likely. At 4:30 I'll leave here, go over to my parent's house to drop stuff off, then go to Sean's for more spell testing. The actual weekend? Not sure actually, maybe more writing. I need to cut the lawn but it might rain both days. I guess only future me knows for sure.

Hope everyone had a good 4th, if it means anything to you or not. See you next time.
