Well, briefly then, if anything in my life can be described briefly. Transfered from old to new first thing. Went well, but this is a brand new machine, which a single core processor. I mean, really? A new machine, that's slower, SLOWER then the machine I bought three years ago? I didn't even think they made single core processors anymore. And it didn't come with 7. Idiot. Next up, cleanout. Uh, don't remind me. Got it all "done" and decided to run checkdisk. No big deal, right? Well, it gets to 100% and decides "this disk appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems." Oh really? Then it starts BSOD on boot. Oh great, a tool that is meant to fix disks just crapped all over this one. So I figure now I have to reload it, they're finding their disks, so I run it again from the CD while I wait. And this time it gets through and starts booting again. So he had an external drive, I started it backing up just in case. Getting firefox to work and freeing up space next. No big deal. Then over to install some RAM and review the "slide" procedure you may recall from a couple of weeks ago. Actually got everything done early today, and got home early. Got a delivery of a HD, so started the G4 installing. Well, I tried to, it didn't like my boot DVD. I made another and it went fine. Watched some Supernatural while getting Mizzy's gift all done up. Because I had some extra time and passed a target, I got some more xmas shopping done. Bought gifts for Heather and found the generic thing I wanted for Mizzy. The customization is coming along quite nicely, if I say so myself. Made calls in there someplace. Okcupid has this new "icebreakers" feature I haven't looked into much, but I got an "icebreaker" from someone, apparently because we both liked cats. Seems logical. Her profile painted her as not as geeky as I would like, but I can probably get someone corrupted to my liking if they're open minded enough. She seemed like a pretty decent sort otherwise, very nice profile, but of course, she lived in Canada. Whoops. But she took the time to mail me so I wrote her back. Pointed out things on her profile I liked, talked about my cats, you know I can't do anything halfway, it was like four paragraphs for Pete's sake. Hold me back I love writing. Anyway, she wrote back it was the "longest, most complimentary and quite frankly the best rejection letter I've ever received". Which made me laugh, but then I realized it implied she had received other rejection letters, which made me sad. Seems "icebreaker" didn't account for our distance apart, which was kinda dumb. Why are all the people that really like me twice my age (or more) or live in another country? Bizarre. Got tomorrow booked, and some of Saturday. May not see Mom over at Grandma's as she's taking Oreo in to have stitches removed. Oh, but I would stop there on the way home, so I probably will after all. HA! Can't get rid of me that easily (believe me she's tried). And now it's even later so I really have to get to bed.
