2016-03-11:

Fri:
Oh yeah, you know the hard drive I got? Without the right cable? Turns out as I look at it more closely, the USB cable was wrong too. It's a USB3 cable, which doesn't even appear on this drive. So they double failed.

Did a little more copy, wrote up a bunch of things in the morning. Apparently pass three is lasting another week, so I'll have plenty of time to finish the feeder stuff. Which I anticipate being not all that different from the glass.

Got my ink in, only one more bag of that stuff. Huh.

Did the shopping, had a nice visit withy parents, and got home.

Couple of calls, Dentist guy again with his stupid outlook->google calendar crap. That was about an hour ago, so hopefully he figured out the program he already had purchased to do that very thing.

And the guy I saw yesterday is having trouble remembering 40% of the words in the English language, and can't get his iPod Mini to work. So it's back there tomorrow as well.

So just the two places, one on the way to Sean's anyway, to deliver the PC. Could be worse.

Sat:
Did two jobs today, the morning one was quite unneeded, I didn't realize how far behind the guy was so I was telling him to look in the wrong place to find the iPod. Oh well, at least it was quick.

Played more Starcraft. Got to the epilog missions, the one I stopped at I lost by maybe thirty seconds because Sarah was at 98% energy when she was killed. Sigh.

Left at 2:30, got over to set up the new machine, which went for exactly the amount of time I expected, letting me get to Sean's only about 10 minutes late.

Pretty good session. Sean got to talk to the voice in his head, I got to explore an abandoned house and then steal a bunch of Egyptian artifacts from a guy who wants to explode a nuke to open a portal and allow a dark being into our realm. Good times.

Sun:
Bunch of stuff done today. Cleaned up around here.
Took a mouse away from Squeaker that he found upstairs, of all places. Now I have two tanks, though he'll be let go once it gets warmer. I only need one mouse.

Picked up from my save on Starcraft, pulled my forces back and defended Sarah for that last couple of percentage point, won the day and then the next far easier mission, winning the game.

Watched my shows, packed up a few of the things that actually sold! Yes, some lots actually sold.

Got a question "oh, why isn't the tracking number working???"
Seriously? Are you THAT stupid? It's a Sunday, moron, how is a tracking number I made a half hour ago going to work until I actually drop the packages off at the post office and they get scanned? I mean really.

Watched some Anime, a bunch actually, and then went to bed. Still need to be paid for two lots of games, sigh.

Mon:
Finished copy.
Took all day, but I got through the rest of the test matrix for reduce/enlarge. Also had some amazing hot cocoa. My mother gave me some, and dang was that stuff good!

Uh, not much else to report. My supervisor was at the store today, got to see customers interacting with our software. Oh look, someone put a sheet down and got a rotated image, imagine that. Brought up the question- did anyone go to the stores before starting this project and see how customers were using the current implementation? Maybe drive it that way? I have to ask.

Also it's a good thing they changed all the machines, because she said a bunch of people didn't want to use them because they were new. *shakes head*

Of course I'm going two places tomorrow, to change a guy's IMAP to POP and then to see about plugging a speaker into a computer. How exactly has our civilization gotten this far?

Kicking and screaming by the sounds of it.

Put in the new battery for the guy, I showed him how fast my identical laptop booted and acted with an SSD. So maybe I'll sell him one of those pretty soon.

Watched Age of Ultron, made a few others calls, and that was Monday.

Tues:
Bunch of minor stuff done today, not any one big thing.

In the morning I wrote up those few things I had found during the copy testing, then went to the meeting.

After that loaded a new printer software, using the much less convenient altboot method. It finished during my lunch, because I'm the type of employee who wouldn't just use the machine updating as an excuse to sit around. No sir!

As you have to type in your old settings again once finished, I missed a 1 and got knocked off the internet. We figured that out. Answered some questions about bugs that were info requested, filed the papers from the copy test, fixed up a couple of spreadsheet problems, honestly not all that much went on.

Tomorrow I switch over to 3.2 testing again, as there's some new build of that. Basically just running a bunch of jobs on it, see what shakes out. Should be "fun?"

Two jobs after that, both very quick. First one was just, like I said, switching his mail type over. He also had found this ancient Linksys router (didn't even support WPA2) so I hooked that up for him for some bizarre reason.

Then closer to home figuring the speaker thing out. Turns out, the windows volume control is not the windows volume control. Who knew? I had to turn up the "wave" setting before he got audio out of the thing. *shakes head.*

Finally back here, talked a guy through getting his printer on the network, made my other calls. Boxed up the third set of games I sold, just one now is left to be paid for.

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy and it was time for bed.

Wed:
Today was heading backwards day. Going back in time to the older product, which 4 of us lucky testers got our hands on. So lucky.

Copy is pretty broken. You can't do more than a couple of jobs in a row before it gives you a bizarre message. The rest of it seems fine, though I did see some unwanted behavior.

Copy took the morning, the rest of the services I sort of randomly looked at the rest of the day. Having the tablet out was nice, getting screenshots was much easier. I hit a button.

Dropped off the HD after work, and came back here. Watched winter soldier, didn't have any calls today. Looked around for my micro sd card. Not where I thought it was, but I did find it in that other place my brain kept going back to while my other brain (don't ask) kept saying "it can't be there brain."

Warm today! Keep that up.

Do have a job for tomorrow, changing a laptop keyboard.

Thurs:
Testing of 3.2 continues, mostly just poking randomly at it, I fear. I lined up all the start buttons and my goodness they are all over the dang place. No really.

Wrote up a bunch of notes but who knows what is important enough to write up. In fact we even found a new bug in 4.2 because the lip hides it, but with the tablets out we could clearly see some weird button action going on down at the bottom of the screen. Odd.

Our supervisor wasn't in today, she was home with a sick child. Probably one of hers but you never know, right?

Then over to put the keyboard in. She wanted it checked over, and I was happy to oblige as I had obviously changed her HDD to an SSD at some point in the past, so running mbam took all of three or so minutes. Neat.

Then back here. Finished up Inside Out which was quite good, made my one phone call and spoke to a machine, then told Ellen to junk her crappy inkjet and not bother to repair it. It's not picking up paper. Stupid inkjets.

I got a $21 donation for bankbook! Whoosh. Someone who has been using it for years, apparently. Neat.

Rainy but warm-ish today.

Weekend plans- tomorrow seeing my parents of course, perhaps having some cake? Hint Hint?

No news on game for Saturday, so there probably isn't one. Could perhaps there be a return to writing? Anything's possible. I've been hankering to watch all the Harry Potter movies again for some reason...

Not much else at the moment, I fear. Guess I'll see you all next week, where I will have a scant 7 weeks left on my current contract. Yay?
