2017-05-12:

Uh, I don't even have the software to load yet, okay? Nor would I know what to do once I did! Honestly, the place needs a complete "manual" of "here is how you do stuff."

But you can bet I'll be adding a few pages to my own home grown instructions for this whatever it is that I'm supposed to now be testing.

Otherwise finished up with the B product, wrote "test cases" and thought about Amy. Amy Pond. In the story, her name is Amy Pond. She's a pond. No really she's a naiad.

Went shopping, got oil as I'm at 10% of oil life, and saw my parents. Saw deer. Got yummy snacks. Thanks for snacks!

Ellen is having trouble with her keyboard, and is a whiny person in general. That was my only call.

Did some writing! There was a new Pyre update so I revised the book a little, making my prices align with the current prices in the book.

Sat:
The busy day.

Went out at 8:30 for the cleanout, that went fine.

Then over at 10:30 for the printer issue. Turned out to be an Avast! firewall issue. Messed with the settings but couldn't find anything actually blocking the printer from not printing. Turning it off made it work, so guess what I did?

A quick lunch and then out to the 12:00. It's one of those "laptop MB in desktop case" jobs and he says it turns off or something? I looked it over, maybe what I did will help? Yeah, probably not.

Came back here, finished chapter 4, then went out again for my last one.

She just had one of those stupid pop-up message "oh virus danger warning!" I had sold her a system with an SSD some time ago (a small one, that's how long ago) so running mbam and doing the updates didn't take long. Went back here to get the tub of games/controllers I didn't sell, they were hers. I still wonder where that invoice went that listed what everything went for so I could actually give her the money I owe her. Sigh.

Ate dinner, watched a few D. Gray man that I got because I remembered I was missing some. Then did some FF3.

Raining all day today. Snow tomorrow?

Sun:
No snow, thank goodness.

Got a lot of things done. Another chapter written. (Chapter 5) More D.Gray man watched. More FF3 played. Got the latest stack of comics put into the database. Made two calls, booked 11:00 saturday and tomorrow. Should have done paperwork, whoops, didn't.

Pulled tons of hair of Tinker.

Watched the latest Dr Who.

That's about it. Doesn't look like any warming trend is coming for this week.
Might get started on the new project tomorrow? At least documenting stuff, anyway.

Mon:
Today went pretty quickly. Verified a few bugs in the morning, and loaded software. Worked on… I mean accidentally did some typing that may have been a chapter in a story. Then in the afternoon the developer guy came and gave me a primer on SoapUI. Well, he didn't so much tell me anything about it but rather showed me how he used it to test. I recorded the whole thing. Oh, and it turns out his code changes aren't actually IN the code yet, so whoops, we can't test it anyway. HAHA.

After that was finally realized he left and I went through the movie to write up some directions from it. This allowed me to realize why he did what he did, which actually made sense. You ask for information, it gives it to you. Huh. And the names make sense and everything.

I'll probably make a new movie that just shows the actual procedure, one of the other developers in India wants to see it. Wrote up the directions because documenting things! Just got it done.

Went to see kindle lady. She had airplane mode turned on, and she didn't now how to get out of the book she was in. Had to look it up myself, was not obvious. We can't have a home button anymore? Really? Okay.

Back here checked my sites, finished up Chapter 6 meaning I'm 1/4 the way through Volume 2 already. Neat. Going well I think.

Checked my sites, ate dinner, talked to the iMac guy who has decided to wipe the old one. Took 45 minutes to do the 2 minute job. I wanted him to make one user, an administrator. He made two users, one named "administrative user" and one named "user" both of which were standard users. I must have been terrible in a previous life.

No job for tomorrow. Getting to work early and staying late. Orthodontist appointment Thursday so I have to leave early. Making up the time now. At least part of it tomorrow.

Guess I better go to bed early too, huh? Got everything done, so that's fine. Tomorrow awaits.

Tues:
Had a minor project when I got to work today. "See if this thing does the thing when this thing is doing its thing."

Ohkay?

So I talked to the person to show me the thing, and I hooked it to the thing, and made it do the thing. AND IT DIDN'T DO THE THING!!!!

It's a coin op module we can add to the printer, like someone's going to have a nickel in their pocket to make a copy with. Apparently the web enabled apps just sort of don't talk to it at all. Whoops.

So I got to write up two new bugs. One for the web apps, one for the extra screen in print from USB.

Wrote all that information down, with pictures even, because documentation!
Speaking of that, our "machine somehow gets self assigned IP address" was looked into. The response was "the people that understood that code were all let go. I can look at it but I have other things to do. Sorry!" HA-larious.

Code wasn't promoted so couldn't do the EFI thing. But maybe tomorrow?

Then did some random typing that couldn't possibly be assembled into most of chapter 7. Nope, no way to do it.

Got home a little after 5:00, my plan to stay 1.5 hours longer a success. Tomorrow I'll go in at 7:30 again and leave for my appointment (machine won't boot) at the normal time. Then Thursday I'll leave at 2:00 and still have 40 hours in.

Viewed my websites, talked some people through stuff over the phone. Made tomorrow's appointment. It's now 8:00. Do you know where your kids are?

Pyre saturday, so that should be good. At least that is the plan so far, time to be disgust.

Discussed. That's what I meant. We haven't agreed on a time, that's all I meant.

Finished chapter 7, didn't read it over because I talked to ellen for 20 minutes. I tell her to close firefox, does she do so? No, she does not. I had to get on her machine and close it myself before the flash player update would take. What happened to closing it via installer? That was much better.

Anyway, going to bed early so I can get up early again. Yay.

Wed:
Today was the day I was supposed to get some "training" on installing Pharos into the printer. And what do you know, I did. Pretty simple, at least at my level.

So I did that and boom, the tests were done. Mailed the manager and Sue my results and heard… nothing.

Rest of the day I thought about next steps for Lysanias should random words flow out of my fingers at some point, and you know, work stuff?

Went to see the guy with the machine that wouldn't boot. He has an SSD that's quite new. Plug it into a PC and the thing just hangs. Plug it into a Mac, and what do you know, I can read it just fine.

Got his stuff off at least, tried to format it. Nope. Get an error message. So it's going back. Maybe? Their return process is a little weird.

Checked my sites, had dinner, called a bunch of people back.

A bunch of people. They just kept calling. Why?

Thurs:
Not much excitement at work, and left early so there. Hooked up the coin machine to do the verification that yes, it's always been broken.

And that was my major contribution for the day. Sigh.

Left at 1:50 to get my new trays, and he didn't seem concerned all the little glued on grab points on the upper right side have come off. But I got the new batch so yay?

Went to see about a Mac with crashing Mail. Rebuilt the index and that was that. Came back here, checked my sites and waited until the RG&E guy was to show up. Came right at 5:00, and was done by 5:30. Didn't like the connection to the stove downstairs, capped it off.

Book guy called, but that was it. Seeing him… Sunday. Yay.

Got the DOC form that I had to fill in and send back to then get the RMA for the bad SSD. They have a page of directions too, like I'm filling out a rebate request. Most places you just fill in an online form, and some will ship you a replacement and put a hold on a credit card until they get yours. Not so here, they are making it as difficult as they possibly can.

At least they got me the stupid number right away.

Looking ahead we see the normal stuff for tomorrow, bank and shopping. Then seeing my parents.

Saturday a few jobs and then over to Sean's for Pyre.

And the one job for Sunday, something about his yahoo password I don't know.

That's it for now, hope you're all enjoying your "spring" and that it's warmer than 50 where you are!
