2025-01-23:
Fri:
Helped Don with his scanning thing, though because of the dentist
and Joe demo in the morning, Christina took it over. She got the
template thing the rest of the way we didn't have time for.
Oh right. We're not sending the demo to USDA because it's "not
complete" and we don't want to confuse them or something. Great job
doing all that work, Robert. Glad you took the time.
Nothing much otherwise.
Went to the bank.
Went shopping. Still no lime juice. Weird. I don't need it, they
have plenty of lemon, but is there some kind of lime shortage
suddenly?
Saw my parents.
Then home for game. We barely got through helping Lime (*cough*)
Twist as Neil picked the most time consuming option available. They
didn't even start asking around Equestria they just headed for
Amphibia. Thankfully I somewhat planned for it, and adapted some of
the ponyville stuff for that land instead. So they got a few of the
"help 5" quest done but not much. They were supposed to just wander
around town and they would have found plenty of ponies to help. Oh
well.
We talked more magic rules too, but not quite as much as before.
Sat:
Got up and went to go see far away guy. I don't think he needs a
router, another one I mean, I think the new better antennas will
work out.
Back here I ate lunch, checked sites.
Did some cleaning.
As the crack filling didn't work to prevent mice in the kitchen I
undid the metal across the bottom of the dishwasher. Ah hah. Got
you. The turds were thick under there. No wonder I keep smelling
them. Ugh. Need to move it though, see how many holes are under
there and if I can even fill them up. Cleaned out under there as
best I could.
Made the appointment for my tire rotation. (Tues, 4:00. I'll go to
good will after that, I guess?)
Worked on the site. Both of them. While doing the new site I noticed
some problems with the current site, for the book downloads. So I
fixed that, and got the folder full of books set up on the new site.
Looked into where my Veilwood notes went to for the last game. I
must have taken some. But the file ends on the previous session's
notes. Very odd. Can't explain it. They're not anywhere, they would
be at the end of the notes I already have. But yet, they are not.
And dropbox only keeps files for 30 days and it's been more than
that since I noticed soooooo.
Dad called. He said to look up rather than down. Good advice. I
filled in the holes, but are mice really walking upside down on the
ceiling to get into the hole? Or maybe jumping I guess... There's a
lot of poop down there too. I hope this is the solution I don't know
where they could be coming from otherwise.
Did the last paperwork entry from last year. Got snuck in.
Ordered the drive case for my work backup drive.
Ate dinner.
A little Magicraft.
Then parents came for movie.
After that we did xbox.
Sun:
Did the sunday reading. Always so many chapters!
Then Magicraft. My build wasn't the best I'm afraid.
Did Sunday stuff, got ready for tomorrow though of course it's a
different tomorrow than usual.
Had a huge brainstorm about the site! There must be a way to get the
URL and the ? thing after it, the HTML "get" as it's called, in
Javascript. Then I could simply use a technique I used in the old
site long ago (I think???) for the comic to get you where you needed
to go. I looked it up and figured out how to do it, at least the
beginnings of it. Sean wanted to do Xbox so I switched over to that
but I had the start of it.
Mon:
Day off! I really did want to start right in with Mass Effect but I
was so stoked about the javascript thing I worked on that instead.
Whoops? haha.
Snowed a lot last night by the way. *Booo snow*
Anyway, using the technique I got the blog working, as in when you
click a link it doesn't go to some blank page with just text on it,
nope it goes to the same page and loads the asked for entry into the
space where the current entry was. I know, I know, it's baby
javascript stuff compared to what's possible but it works great. It
looks much better and allows for less hitting the back button. I
don't "keep" the menu open so one would have to click on the year
again, then find the next date but really who is going to go back
reading 2009 entries or whatever?
With that working it was a snap, a breeze, a "barely an
inconvenience" to move that over to the comic archive. Yeah, I
figured I post it again. 2002. So cringe. Wow.
Anyway, got that working perfectly too. You come into it, shows the
first one, and you click next, and it shows the next one. There's a
"previous" button there to, and I put a "home" and "download" button
on there, so one can simply download the whole comic if they want.
Almost 900 pages! I didn't think it was that long, or maybe I did
and the last 16 years have erased it from my smegging memories???
I didn't think I could do (hence leaving it for last) without PHP
but I was proven wrong. It works great.
That took all morning though. It's coming together though. A few
graphics and I could host it now. How's that for progress?
Ate lunch.
Then did Mass Effect. Got through all the side missions I had
available and went back to the main mission.
Did the driveway as the snow had stopped, it was actually sunny
(still very cold) and before it got too dark.
Picked up a few things I had left laying around.
Got ready for real tomororw. Back to work! Yay? No calls.
Then xbox with the others. We can't get the "weapon cores" mission
to work when we're in a party. Odd.
Tues:
Joe meeting in the morning. Super cold on the way in, 7 degrees!
Not much else exciting. Joe has some bugs he wants checked, so I
guess before the next meeting I'll load a current build and do that.
Still waiting for the translation strings, would like to do them
both together.
The other meeting also happened, the onedrive meeting.
I wrote a chapter of the pony story. Still have content so I'll
probably work more on it tomorrow.
Got my tires rotated, and went to good will. Only one tiny thing.
Not a good start to the year, but then, what has been?
Back here I checked sites, ate dinner.
An hour long phone call but I did get his thing worked out. Why did
aeroadmin close me out and say the remote PC rejected the
connection? It was working just fine, did he press something?
Then xbox with the others.
Wed:
Still not much at work. Helped the developer guy sign into a
machine.
Finished the next chapter of the pony story.
Did the proof reading.
No meetings today. Oh and it was still very cold, which will
apparently continue for the future. Neat.
Christina had some trouble downgrading a machine, maybe it was the
build? I didn't get the end of that story actually.
Not much else I guess.
Came back here, checked sites. Ate dinner.
Finished up my last Magicraft run for a while. It's here tomorrow!
Can't wait.
Then got ready for bed. No calls, let's get to tomorrow so I can
start the download!
Thurs:
Huh, of course Magicraft updated with new content...
Anyway, the download wasn't ready when I got up this morning.
Of course, I have two calls now at home.
Of course, I had a late 3:30 meeting on the one day I want
to go home a bit early.
Hi! Hello!
The usual meetings at work today. The onedrive meeting, discussing
the new features and their implementation.
The status meeting, still unchanged since last week mostly.
I did verify a bug for a developer that didn't have access to smart
card and email.
I worked on Building Block Magic, I think I've made it more clear
than it was before. Wrote up some questions for the others.
Tomorrow I'll use the device I loaded with the build for the other
guy and check some things. Might as well. Oh and Don is taking us 3
out to lunch, a bit late for the Christmas lunch but better late
than never.
Going to eat dinner now and then play!
Looking ahead it seems we're doing game this Saturday, but Sean is
still laid up a bit.
I'll do game tomorrow. Or whatever you call arguing rules and some
gameplay is.
Then the usual stuff, shopping, seeing my parents. I'll need to get
cat food next week.
So I have a job saturday, it's not too far down the street and
doesn't sound too bad.
Played Rebirth until 9:30. Only just past the flashback. So really,
I have yet to even begin.
Looking forward to more, it plays way better than the original one
did at launch (very choppy, buggy) and it's more of that FF7
goodness I love.
See you next week. Whoosh, it's the end of January already.
