Another meeting about JBA data.
More work on the dungeon stuff. We'll probably only get through 2 tonight? Sean doesn't want to go too late because of the pyre game tomorrow.
Left work at 1:00. Remembered to water the plants, don't worry. The ones in the other lab, I mean.
Oh, why 1:00? The text changed on the delivery thing from "by 7:00 PM" to "between 1:45 and 5:45." That's more specific. So I wanted to be there, as it still wouldn't let me put it someplace. Like really.
Brought my laptop home but it won't connect to the VPN. Weird. Got on Teams and Email in the browser. At least it shows me as available still.
Hasn't come by 3:00!
Checked sites. Videos.
Wait, it didn't need a signature at all? Then why couldn't I have it held at a facility? This is so weird. The truck pulled up, so I went and opened the door. Figuring they would ring the bell. A moment past and I wondered what the heck they were doing. The truck was gone! Did they not even attempt!!!! Nope, it was just sitting there. Ugh.

I could have just done my normal stuff. Oh well. It's fine.

Did game. Did not even get near a dungeon. Which is fine? Less work for me!

Set up the mac! I mean come on did you think I would wait?

Sat:
Worked through the growing pains of the new machine. There are some odd issues but I think I've got them all worked out.
Checked out wizard of legend, doesn't seem to generate the levels any faster.
No Man's Sky looks amazing. I saved at a starbase I guess and loaded in looking around like "where the heck am I?" I guess they redesigned them when I wasn't looking. So smooth and it looks great. Also great seeing that CPU indicator with 12 bars. Ha!
Ate lunch and left for the megagame. What happened to the morning? I didn't get up that late... odd.

Got the books in. There's an odd artifact on the pony one. Don't tell anyone and they won't see it, I bet. Looks great otherwise.

Megagame was about as noisy as I figured it would be, which wasn't great. But it wasn't as chaotic, I guess after so many Sean has come up with a few things. It did get out of hand once, everyone was around the big table arguing when only one member of each team was supposed to be there. But I did my job, and Alyx said I was a big help, so I'll take it.

Sun:
Raked leaves in the morning. Almost beat the rain, but that's fine. There are more to come down of course. I wanted to put up the christmas lights, but the rain put the kibosh on that. I didn't blow the leaves in the back. I just raked them into the pull plastic. "Why would I move them around just to put them on the plastic?" I asked myself. I didn't have a good answer. Took me an hour and a half to do the back. I'd have to look if that's a faster time than last year. Big pile!

So then I had a conversation with Alyx about a few things, did the daily reading. Had dinner. Got ready for tomorrow, no work though! And then there's a week, and it's thanksgiving week. Just in case you didn't know.

New mac is holding up well! So much nicer now that the desk is all cleaned off. I may do the cable management tomorrow. I need to drill some holes.

Ordered a PC for a guy I sold a PC to he says several years ago. More than 5.

Discovered there is a real quality difference between software and hardware decoding. I set the same episode to be encoded with both, and while the hardware encoder did perform much faster, it wasn't worth it for the quality loss. Why offer hardware encoding if it's going to look so bad? I don't get it. I guess for different needs. It's more for streaming.

And how's this for a twist? I'm going to a concert with Alyx now. They messaged me if I could be a possible "hey want to go to a concert sometime" as their wife Kim seems to like going out even less than I do. Which is really saying something, apparently. So I agreed. It's in two weeks.

Mon:
No rain, and it wasn't too wet, so I put out the Christmas lights.
My green string of like 100 bulbs only survived with 20 lit now. It will have to be replaced. Sigh.
I also cleaned out the Mac Pro and found a home for it.
Checked sites.
Ate lunch.
Had some other cleanup to do.
Christmas shopping.
Finished shrinking all the video footage I hadn't yet.
Worked on trying to get my music in order. A lot of files still "can't be found" since the move to the NAS. Found a script to help, as clearly Music can't do it by itself.
Lights look pretty good.
2 calls, an hour with some guy that did some kind of restore or something to his device and wiped all his programs out. I reloaded them.
And a long standing Mac customer that wants Sat.
Got ready for tomorrow. Back to it. You get a day off and you forget everything I think. Where do I work again?


Tues:
Today was pretty rough.
Stuffed up nose, I was even having trouble breathing it was so bad. I went to sit on the couch, that helped a lot.
Anyway, got up. Somewhat busy at work. Had the usual Joe meeting first. Then a presentation from the CEO about our financials. Down. But he's confident our plan is working!
Versalink software came in so I verified a bug I had written. Looks good.
Then D4.0 came in, loaded the device up (well, I just used the one Christina had loaded) for the SIPR card test. Bit of a snag on email but I figured it out at last.
No one drive meeting, thank goodness.
Then out to second job. A "simple" job of transferring some files from a PC to a Mac. His machine had two SSD? For reasons? One was still blank. Odd. Folders didn't want to copy. Not all folders, mind you. Just some. And the Mac would just stop the copy and that was it. No real explanation why. Neat. Tried all sorts of things to get everything to copy. The weirdest thing was everything in the folder would copy fine. So I could make a folder, and copy everything from it. Of course he had stuff all over the place, so that wasn't really feasible. Oh and he had all sorts of stuff in onedrive, but it wasn't logged in? How did you even do that? His old machine was a huge mess. I even tried copying his stuff to the blank SSD and using that, figuring it might be the other SSD? No. Still the same problem. I finally (3 hours later) set it up to copy over the network, estimated time 8-12 hours. Thanks MS. Love it. 800 Gb/sec! 200kb/sec! Make up your mind. I left it running that way. I'll be back tomorrow to put everything where it needs to go and finish up. Yay.
Went back home, begged off xbox night because I was wiped out, had a light supper and took some cold medicine. It only expired in 2020 so I'm sure it's fine. Sat on couch (with my 2 little men! So cozy!) until around 11, believe me I wasn't awake for a lot of it, then crawled into bed. With my head elevated it wasn't too bad, and that's where I stayed until 7:00. That's about 11 hours of sleep. Probably only 9 when you add it all up. I'm still wiped out, but feeling better.

Wed:
Still no haul. Stuff is dated the 12th.
But it happened later, so yay! The usual stuff, so my parents will get the usual assortment.
Not much else exciting but trying to survive. No meetings to break up the time either. Still pretty miserable I'm afraid.
Went back to Mac guy. The copy had finished, now I just needed to get into his and his wife's google account. He had his password but of course his wife's was a big mystery. Her windows live account had some kind of application password so no help there. And she was logged in with Chrome, but of course the password in the manager was wrong. So great! We finally got it reset. So I spent like another hour and a half there.
Back home I checked sites, had some food, used up the rest of my cold medicine, and went to about about 8:00.

Thurs:
Turning the corner on this thing? Nose is not as stuffed up, and after another 11 hours or so of sleep (still waking up many times) I almost have what could be termed as approaching something resembling ambition. Not quite though, but it's coming.
More haul. It was snacks days I guess. Not chips, but a ton of brownies, zebra cakes, bear claws, texas rolls, and two decorative gourds? Okay that may have been from somewhere else. Guess who's getting a bunch of that stuff?
The usual meetings today.

And an extra one at the end of the day with Joe. I was this close to leaving too, but he wanted to talk about a bug I wrote 7 months ago. I got them all straightened out though.

Not much else exciting. But I managed the day without filling up the basket more with used tissues so that's a plus. And I got to go right home at night.

Back here, checked sites, ate dinner.

One call, plus the lady from two days ago I didn't reach yesterday. The guy that said it would be January got all his parts in, so I guess I get to build a PC. Yay. Well, assemble it. Hopefully it won't take too long? So it's 11:00 mac guy, then home for lunch, then to PC build guy. at least neither is all that far away. Ugh, I was wrong, I got another call. I'm pushing him off to Monday. His thing can wait. I'm not sure what his issue is anyway, says what he's working on crashes I guess? I wonder if he can demonstrate it?

Double ugh. I was wrong again. I got yet another call. What the heck is up with this crap? A guy I haven't heard from in years with a "no boot device found" message. Neat. He's now next Wednesday. Stop calling me already.

Read another two chapters of Alyx's story. Ordered more SSDs, wow haven't done that in a hot minute, had to pay for the faster shipping as I wanted to be sure I had them before going to see the guy on Wednesday. Oh well.

Looking ahead I'm up for game Friday, so we'll do that. Bank, shopping, seeing my parents.

Then Saturday the 11:00 job the Mac guy hopefully with only a few easily solved problems.

Then the elf game at Sean's.

Not sure what I'll do Sunday. Rest up for the coming week I guess. Not looking forward to already having two jobs for it.

But I will start counting down the days until turkey day. See you with only one week left to go.
