2024-11-07:
Fri:
A little more work on Don's thing. That's the toner density thing
for those following along at home.
Got a chapter done.
Went to the bank, shopping, parent's house.
Got home, power was off. Wasn't off long, the UPS were still
beeping.
Checked sites.
Won Shantae. Yes, got past the timed part. The last stage was a slog
as was the final boss. Hitting her spots that many times? I don't
know. Halve it and that would be more fair. But I didn't die or
anything so it was fine. Got a new costume for the second run...
sometime in the future maybe. Won't play it again yet.
Sat:
Checked sites.
Did the sculpting for Mizzy's gift. I think it came out halfway
decent. And that's not something I can say often.
Did (some) of the painting. One of the bases broke so clearly the
cement thing isn't going to work. The instructions for the stuff say
"don't overbake" but what exactly happens if you do? I'm thinking
I'll just make a sturdier base and bake it again. What could go
wrong? I can always make a replacement, I just don't want to. I have
plenty of the stuff.
Ate lunch and went to first second work job.
That only took a half hour, his problems were few.
Made new bases for the three that needed it. Baking now.
Seems to have been fine?
Posted the new books on the site. Go check them out, link is to the
left. No my left! Wait...
Got the monitor delivered, set that up.
Looks like I won't get any better resolution until I replace my
splitter. The monitor can do 4k. The TV can do 4k. (I checked them
independently) My old monitor ... actually I wonder now what the max
resolution of it really was. I'm going to look. I thought it was
less than the TV so both were taking the lesser resolution. Whoops,
not the case. Man is my splitter really that old? Sigh. Put it on
the list!
Ah hah. It was the resolution I thought. Okay, so that's at least
been proven correct. So for now while I do get a better picture I
don't get any higher resolution or refresh rate. Boo! That's fine I
guess.
Time to go to second job.
I'm going to have to re-sculpt one piece of Mizzy's gift. It sort of
broke and it's not going to glue together. Easiest to just remake
it. It's not a big deal. So I'm close to being done.
Sun:
Got Mizzy's gift all done. Partly wrapped, not in a box. Not sure
how I'll deliver it, actually. It's somewhat fragile. Maybe just a
bag.
Did a bit of cleaning up after myself.
Checked out another game on Mac, works good. Take that, gaming PC.
Watched a little of Castlevania that Sean gave me.
Made sure the wood I have will work for the monitor. It's a little
small, but I think it'll work (that's what she said). The stand
itself will hang off a little but that will probably be fine. It's
not like it's going anywhere.
Two calls. Just verifying one guy getting the newer mac at the end
of the week. And the two hour call basically just to reduce the
amount of pictures on an iPhone but having so many tangents. How do
you take 100gb of pictures anyway? I've only had the one phone and
I've only used half of my 64gb of space. Total. Do you take a
picture of every little thing? Do you never erase anything? My
goodness she's annoying. Especially because it's iCloud that I don't
use, so can't really answer questions on how it works. It just went
on and on. The verizon guy somehow got her on a more expensive
iCloud plan, which didn't solve her problem. Like I said, on and on
this story went. I shake my fist at you.
Going to bed.
Mon:
100% power has returned to my hands, as was fortold long ago. Now
tremble before me mortals, as I- what's that? I'm still mortal
myself? Having 100% power does not give immortality? Shucks, never
mind.
Anyway, long time readers may recall that I have an electric
vehicle, the only proper way to power anything. Electrons. When I
noted my usage it was 35, and while yes I did two jobs and went to
Sean's Saturday that number seemed way too high. But when I pressed
the button I realized why. I was 8 miles over my required millage
from the "we want to make sure your battery doesn't explode"
firmware update. Neat. So I'm back to 100% power from 80%. That's
where the extra number came from. So nice to see a full gauge again.
Got the patch build for the PJL command stuff, so I worked on that.
I worked on that. All. Day. Long.
There's only three new commands. You would think they couldn't mess
it up that badly. But the machine was crashing, one machine didn't
work. Then I found out it would work with the tool but not the
manual way. It's a huge mess. I ended up writing 4 bugs, for
three new commands. What? How is this even possible? Oh
believe me it is.
That took literally all day. I didn't do anything else. No writing,
no dungeon stuff. Nothing.
Went to get cat food and litter.
Then home. Checked sites, had dinner.
Cut the wood and painted it. Well, a first coat anyway it'll need
another.
One call, something about quicken. Good thing I'm an expert in that
program! Wait. That was only a 40 minute slog. It would open but ask
for an admin password. I made the account an admin, and checked to
make sure some "compatibility" setting wasn't on. It wasn't. Then I
got it opened and tried to open the company. It told me I didn't
have permission, to my own documents folder? When I moved it to the
desktop it was happy. It opened 2 times fine, then seemingly lost it
again! I finally just made a shortcut from the desktop folder in
place of the quickbooks icon because that seemed to make it open
fine every time. Thanks windows, for showing me once again the
number of ways you can screw up is virtually unlimited.
I wanted to do writing today but it's almost 8:30 at this point so I
don't think it would be very productive.
Oh, put another coat of paint on. Looks good.
Tues:
With only a bit more of the stupid PCL stuff to do and a meeting
canceled, I worked on the next adventure for Friday and finished the
next chapter.
Got a good haul.
The onedrive meeting was canceled, as the guy is going over there
tomorrow. We still had Joe's meeting.
Apple tree is doing well.
Brought stuff to my parent's house, then came home.
One call. Wants help putting a gaming PC together? Dude, you got the
parts, put them together yourself. Like a man. Anyway, he's getting
the rest of the parts... by Jan 1st? That's two months from now.
Why... why such a long delay? I don't get it.
Had dinner, checked sites.
The books shipped!
Did Xbox with the others, but after finishing the Castlevania stuff
and doing an episode of star trek.
Wed:
Hey guess who lost faith in humanity today?
*thumbs* This guy!
Oh, you want a felon in the white house? Sure. Go ahead and do that.
But I think it's not going to work out for you the way you think.
(P.S. he's also a fascist but I guess you're okay with that too?
Good job)
I think I finished the book. It's basically long enough and writing
another chapter where the guild comes in and complains just didn't
seem right. I think it ends okay. There's no real "bad guy" to fight
but I guess there doesn't have to be.
Had a meeting.
Brief look at the fixes, just a screenshot, for the PJL stuff. They
got it almost right.
Back here checked sites, had dinner. One call, I think she just
zoomed her text accidentally.
Here's an interesting bit of trivia. When I was at 80% power as 100%
power my power gauge would drop by 2 bars on the way to and back
from work. Now that I'm back to 100% power I expected the same two
bar drop. Right? One bar there and one bar back. Nope. I lose no
bars. Pulling in to the driveway I still show as 100% power, bar
wise. So weird.
Thurs:
Meeting day. Not that other days have less meetings nowadays. Am I
right?
Thankfully the onedrive install is going fine, they aren't seeing
the issue anymore. Because they're testing differently now because a
xerox guy is there or because we actually fixed something? Who
knows?!
Had a demo for the pjl stuff. Pointed out several issues that still
existed. Minor stuff, strings being wrong really. Function seemed
okay.
And of course status meeting.
Watered the plants.
Worked on the game stuff. Want a good base to work from. Came up
with a few ideas for when they exhaust the dungeons.
And just thought of a new dungeon to add! Whoops.
Mac shipped. It requires signature and can't be held at the UPS
place? That's inconvenient. Maybe I'll leave work early (like at
lunch early) and not go back. No one will care or even know. It's a
3 day weekend. Who do you think is going to be there anyway? I may
bring my laptop home, see if I can get on the VPN just in case I get
asked something. That way I can sign for the darn thing. Of course
the delivery page says "by 7:00 PM" so it could be literally at any
time. Nice.
Came back here, added some stuff to the building block magic rules I
thought up for the pony game. Figured I would "back port it" as they
say. That's when I thought of the new dungeon. Oh it could even be
in the crystal empire! But how...
More star trek.
Oh and I added the new rules to the document.
Let's look ahead. Not sure what work tomorrow, if any. Oh yeah maybe
going home early.
Shopping, seeing my parents. May have to be on hold if the mac
doesn't come. Really wish I could redirect it to a facility and pick
it up myself. If I had known that I might have sent it to the Mac
Store.
Then game. Then Saturday doing the mega game. Alyx talked me into
it. Sounds like a chaotic mess meaning my worst environment but they
needed the help.
Sunday I may need to do leaves, but I do have monday off. That's why
I want to get the mac so bad tomorrow, otherwise I'll waste the day
I can easily set it up. I have cleaning to do and things to move
around once I start.
See you next week.
