Fri:
Couldn't do the D4.0 stuff, builds are failing. Have been for I
guess two days now. Might be something we want to look at?
Got more haul, had to use the big bag to take it away. Still trying
to work on frozen stuff here, but I got a bunch of sandwiches I want
to eat, enough to keep me almost the whole week. Well, whatever.
Worked on the new spell/item descriptions for the game, realized I
hadn't done that.
Went over the episode one last time, feels like it's in good shape.
Not much else comes to mind...
Bank, shopping, parents.
Did the 1/4 pour, we'll see how that goes.
Ran game. Didn't get through it, I knew it would be a long one
though. Took a tiny bit of nudging to get them (Sean) to the actual
reason they were there, but the plot can now proceed however they
want. The decision to set the stage after the defeat of the king is
proving to be the right one. They're going to send an army of ponies
(and others) to the place to help Amphibia rebuild.
Sat:
Cut the foam so the front door looks better. Stay outside tiny
mouses!
Washed the mugs, hesitant to put them back just yet just in case
someone starts living under there again. Not sure what else to do
with them though.
Worked on the 3/4 pour.
Then on the figure rebuild project. I actually got something I was
happy with???? What's going on? Ears and paint look good. Didn't
even take me all that long. How about that.
Paid my school tax bill.
Checked sites.
An hour of Alan Wake, I'm halfway though thank goodness, it's not
getting better. And I know there's just more of the same awaiting
me.
Then an hour of Shantae.
Other stuff, not important.
Oh, I got the latest pour out of the mold, and it came out a lot
better, I'm pretty sure. I'll sand it up, as that seems to help even
with the spray, but far less bubbles I think. I started a pour for
the big piece with the same technique. Hope I have enough resin to
finish it. Might be close. Going to pour only a very small amount at
any one time, as that seems to be the best way. I'm doing it in very
thin layers because the object I'm trying to make has a bunch of
"wells" so filling up all the wells means I'm basically just pouring
the whole thing in the first place. So I'm trying to carefully build
it up in a logical manner.
More Shantae, parents didn't come for movie because of picnic.
Then xbox with the others. Did daily tasks in first descendent and
then started the new season of Nightwave in Warframe. We got most of
the challenges done!
Was still somewhat concerned my damage numbers were nowhere near
what I saw in the simulator. Very odd. I figured this out though...
Sun:
Waking up in the morning. "What if it's proportional damage?" It is.
When I test against level 140 enemies I get the millions of damage I
crave. Sometimes. Damage is all over the place in warframe. I don't
know why. But when I reduce the level of the enemies to what I was
fighting my damage is way less. Don't get me wrong it was still
lethal all over the place. I'm just glad to have figured it out. So
it's a build that does more damage, the more damage that an enemy
can take. Seems reasonable. Tested it against Glaive Prime too, and
while the Glaive does more AoE it's only about 1/3 of the damage.
Good to know. So basically the lesson here is, take Glaive when it's
a low level mission with lots of enemies to blow up all at once,
kapow! But take Harmony when it's a high level mission and they'll
have lots more HP. DONE.
Did the daily readings.
Looked for grapes, not many with all of them ripe yet, but I did get
some.
Worked on a few details for the continuation of the next episode. If
I read the situation correctly, they're going to return to Equestria
soon to get relief ponies and supplies. So I made up some relief
organizations they can pick up and ferry over there. Wanted to make
sure I knew what each "ruler" was going to say/offer to the other.
And now I do!
Played some Shantae. That game is brutal for some reason. Or maybe
I'm just rusty on platformers? The last Shantae game I played didn't
seem that brutal. Maybe they just uped the heart spawn rate? That
would do it, they seem pretty stingy with them in this game. Or the
enemies just hit harder or something. I'm doing it, but I'm downing
auto potions like it's going out of style.
Ordered kitty medicine refill.
Did more pour. I think I'll have just enough to finish this
one piece so I hope it works out perfectly.
Found the closest display stand I could for the two pieces of the
xmas gift. Not movie perfect for the one piece but what can you do?
Uh, but then my money was refunded? What's going on there? It said
it shipped, but then... I'll have to follow up. Sigh.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Finished the pour. Had just enough, and a bit extra to make some
"overflow balls" with. I pour extra into my ball molds just to have
someplace to put it. Now I have three new blue balls. Some xbox with
the others.
Mon:
Resin overflowed a bit? It seemed perfect though? Weird. I can
cut/sand it easily enough it's just odd it did that.
No new build over the weekend, so they haven't finished that system
yet.
With that, nothing work related to do. Got 2 chapters written. But
that's only maybe the halfway point of this adventure, which as you
know still must go on! So it'll likely be 6 chapters? Sheesh. But
it's important stuff, so that's to be expected.
Rained hard today. There was even a flood warning at 5:45.
Here! In Rochester. Bizarre!
Came back home, pulled piece of out mold. Very promising. Need to
sand it for sure, but at the moment, looking at it, I'm much happier
with it than the others.
Checked sites, ate dinner. There was hail! Actual hail! Not big but
still. It was really coming down for a minute there.
Did more writing. Got ready for tomorrow. Called Yahoo guy, it was
fine today. Stupid Yahoo. What was it even doing yesterday? Ugh.
Back to writing. Finished the next chapter. The next will be it,
will it be a full chapter? Good question!
Tues:
Had some work today. But first finished the last chapter I needed to
write. All sewn up for the upcoming adventures. Whew.
The D40. builds are working again so I loaded that. Had a Joe
meeting. Had the onedrive meeting no logs yet! Hey why isn't there
an automated process for redacting logs? You think if a company (the
gobment) had to do an activity all the time (redacting logs) they
would I don't know use some of my tax dollars to build a tool to do
that instead of one bomb or something. Just an idea. Would it really
be that hard to load a list of things to redact and just feed a text
file into it and out pops another text file without any of those
things in it? Seems easy.
Also got the versalink stuff a day early. Two days early, sorry. Got
one model done. Wrote a new bug, a regression I guess, as I marked
it passed before. You can select the cert without being in TLS 1.3
mode. That basically breaks the machine. Neato.
Came back here, checked sites, had dinner.
Then xbox with the others. Most of the daily challenges met. If only
I could say that about my real life, you know what I mean??????
Wed:
More actual work today. Made some test cases for the new hub feature
we're putting in.
Also did the other device we got software for, the cert tests. It
was fine.
Did some proof reading of the pony story. Added a few details to
episode 9.
And that was the day!
Came back here, checked sites. Ate dinner.
One call, but she said tomorrow remotely is fine. Sure.
Worked on more details for the adventure.
Thurs:
During yet another onedrive meeting where it was revealed the
customer probably won't be giving us the logs, and "what else can we
do" (the answer was nothing) I pushed back a little and said if my
testing doesn't show the problem and their "testing" supposedly
does, who are you going to trust. Her answer was "of course I trust
the customer." She missed the point of my question entirely and of
course everyone else jumped in and moved on so I didn't speak up the
rest of the meeting. I want to address this question quickly:
if you have two data points and they are diametrically opposed and
you are asked "which is real" your only answer is "there is
not enough evidence to say one way or the other." That's it. That's
all you can deduce from these data points. In this case, are you in
the room when they are "testing" and the jobs are not showing up?
No? So how do you know if they're looking in the right place? How do
you know they're doing it right? You don't.
There is not enough evidence.
My point of course was getting a 3rd data point, but it was lost on
her and the group. Whatever. Oh right, the most hilarious part! We
can't do a "live" session with them and they just show the logs to
the developer because the developer is canadian. Yeah. You would
think we would take that into account when making things we know
will be desired by government agencies. And maybe, I don't know,
make them ourselves? So we don't have to jump through all these
hoops all the time? Also, is there something magical about being a
"US citizen" vs a "Canadian citizen" that would make some huge
difference? Because I don't see it. Americans can be radicalized
just as easily as anyone else. Look at Musk. Or not, that guy has a
weird face. Someone get him a razor. You think the world's richest
man could afford a decent one, but I guess not. What was I saying?
Had the usual status meeting as well.
Otherwise read over the pony stuff, not much more I can improve I
don't think. Did some other reading. Watered the plants. More haul,
and stuff is dated tomorrow so maybe even more tomorrow.
Came back here.
Two calls? I have to call three people tonight? Yuck. Reached two.
An hour to do a malwarebytes scan? Yuck! Nothing found either, so
that was a waste of time.
Other guy was the guy who somehow hangs mail all the time. Mac
didn't want to reboot when it was hung either. But we figured it
out.
Third person I didn't reach.
Checked sites, had dinner.
Looking ahead, we'll do something at work tomorrow, not sure what.
Bring my parents more stuff. Do the shopping, run the next part of
episode 7. Depending we may skip 8 and go right to 9, the beginning
of the end. 12 episodes total.
Saturday is Pyre, otherwise not much planned. Looking for grapes
again. Some sanding? Yeah probably.
Well, September is almost half over. See you next time!
