2024-08-29:
Fri:
Did some long standing busywork today in the morning.
Got the labels for the new cards done, and put them into the right
little containers.
Also worked on a script to auto change password for all the users.
Took me 2 hours. Why couldn't Ken do this? I don't know anything
about powershell scripting. Still managed it just fine though.
Christina told me more about the bugs she wrote for her vacation
time.
That left me the afternoon. I worked on the next-next episode of the
pony game. Eps 7. The most anticipated one!
Left a bit early. My guests tore down some of the plastic trying to
get behind it to hide. So I went and got the staple gun again and
came home to put it back up.
They're at least out a little? They're using the box but I didn't
see much food gone. They didn't like my fresh, organic catnip
either. Well, one step at a time.
Ate dinner, checked sites.
Sat:
Gave my kitties everything under the sun this morning. Lucky is
using the window shelf and finally accepts me petting him. Micky is
still hiding behind the pipe in the playground.
Some of the offerings were eaten.
Went to feed my parent's guys.
Then over to the job. Why wasn't he using ethernet when his router
was right there? He had a lot of junk. He had a backup he wasn't
using because he didn't have a USB-C to A cable. (I did find one,
not the one I thought I had) and I totally reloaded thunderbird
because he really had that screwed up.
Then over to Lowes to get some things.
Then lunch, it was 1:00 at that point.
Then I took a nap.
When I got up again I worked on Eps 7.
Then dinner, checking sites.
Lucky tried to bury his food. At least I got him to eat another
Churu. Micky is still hiding. Lucky is actually quite friendly, now
that he's not terrified. I even tried his food on plates instead of
that little bowl I'm sure that little bowl constricts the whiskers.
But no, still didn't want anything to do with it. Sigh.
Tried to do some Alan Wake. Couldn't finish chapter 2. Just too
tedious and it's just a bad game. There's no way around it.
But then we did more First Decedent.
Sun:
Micky still hiding.
Lucky always comes to see me though, even almost got on my lap.
Likes attention. Does not like salmon or tuna, both got buried.
Still likes Churu though.
Picked grapes.
Checked sites, did reading.
Took a nap.
Worked on what steps would need to be done after episode 7, as I
know Sean may want to start working on it right away.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Lucky almost ate something! He followed me to the plate and sniffed
his food and almost licked it! But then he buried it. Little one, I
can only do so much. What more do you want from me?
Micky is still hiding.
But Ah hah! There is hope. There was still food I hadn't offered
him, that of the stuff in the dispenser in the kitchen. I brought up
two bowls, one with the stuff Christina gave me some time ago my
guys have been very slowly eating through, and their usual low
magnisium stuff. He actually ate some right in front of me! Yes!
Progress! And Micky was out of hiding, and on the windows shelf.
Didn't run away, let me pet him.
Mon:
More good news. Food was gone from the plates! Not a lot of food.
But something got eaten. The bowls were not that much lower but
okay, this is still progress. Plus Mickey came out of the hiding box
right away when I came up. Oh, and the dry food I put in there had
been eaten. I added more. Maybe we'll keep these guys alive yet.
Work wise, did more printing stuff for Don.
Ken wanted two user passwords changed, so I tried my script. Uh, why
isn't it working now? Added different commands to the top and got it
working again. Weird. I know it worked before. Nothing changed.
Why... oh right it's MS of course it's going to be flaky.
Then writing the latest pony adventure. Got two and a half chapters
done, but still more to go. Got though, maybe half the adventure
total? Seems about right.
Upstairs kitties ate some of their food today, not much, but some
was gone. We're getting there. They are using the box but it seems
pretty dry? I've given them two bowls of water, their usual fountain
from the guy that brought them, and one from me that's just a bowl.
Always something I guess.
Otherwise brought stuff to my parents as some things got tossed,
more dated tomorrow, and got cat food.
UGh, two more calls today, so I have a total of 3. Yay, just what I
wanted.
Checked sites, made sure everybody upstairs was okay.
Did more writing!
Hey, the bisque cream stuff I got them was all gone. Huh, that went
fast! I put more up there. It was next to Mickey, did he eat it
(from behind the pipe) or did Lucky get in there and snatch it?
Well, stuff is vanishing more often so that makes me happy.
Made the calls. First guy was thunderbird guy from a few days ago.
Somehow his firewall was blocking thunderbird? Great job, MS. Just
great.
Next person I didn't reach. They just want to get rid of the russain
antivirus they shouldn't be using in the first place!
Then the person that doesn't know how to use a spreadsheet. She
"lost" her first column, uh, maybe use the scrollbar at the bottom?
Then she was totally unable to made a row bigger. Just put your
mouse on the line between the two cells, it changes, click the mouse
and drag it down. Couldn't do it. 10 minutes I wasted on this. She
said she would keep trying. Yeah, you do that.
Back to writing, no Sean on Mondays now that classes have started
again. (for the most part, I mean)
Or, whoops, there was? Did some xbox with him, a bit later than
usual though.
Tues:
Adnan messaged me, asking about his furry children. I expressed my
concern with their eating and he admitted they did the same thing
when they moved in and not to stress too much about it. Maybe
mention that as a possibility before leaving? So I don't freak out?
Or whatever. But they are doing fine, so everything is fine.
More Don work, this time sending jobs to a certain device to try and
get paper out of a certain tray. We do the important work here.
Like, all these companies try to make custom PCL just print the
freaking documents and select the options in a driver, like regular
people. Needless to say, the printer acted exactly the same with the
default setting, and the weird numbers he wanted plugged into it. So
worthwhile.
Finished up chapter 22 of the pony story, taking us just into the
next episode. Which will probably be at least two chapters? Don't
know. I've worked on the basic outline, now to get into any
specifics, if needed. I may have enough to run it, I know how I want
it to go.
No haul, the stuff for the 27th stayed in there.
Also two meetings. Three. Three meetings. The morning Joe meeting
about his projects. The multi-port meeting we started in March,
still going on, and the onedrive meeting. Oh, the people we're
working with are going on vacation for like two weeks? Fine, fine.
it's fine.
Then back home. Checked sites, had dinner.
Oh, an important milestone! Lucky was actually purring tonight! Now
if we could just get the other one to stop hiding.
Did inventory management in Descendant, then found a party to carry
my bunny to victory to advance her storyline. Thanks, random group
of 3 others. You have carried me well.
Then more gameplay with the others. We're nearing the end I think.
Wed:
Not much work related. Another test of the trays for Don and a
meeting about OneDrive yes it's still going on. Still no answers.
But a lot of "well we could ask them to do this?" Sure, sure, I'm
sure they'll be happy to do that stuff.
Worked on the next episode, I think I'm happy with where I have it.
Then came up with ideas for the one after it. My original ideas
didn't fit right, but I think I've got something I could be happy
with. It needs more development. But then, what doesn't?
Brought food to my parents, got a lot of stuff and the next date is
the 30th, so I may get even more by week's end.
Back here, checked sites, had dinner. Gave all kitties their stack
except for that hiding one, who is still hiding.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Worked on the pony adventure.
Thurs:
Just the usual meetings at work, nothing new has come in. Looked
over the adventures, did see a small amount of improvement room, so
I made those improvements.
But whoops, there was not much need, we're not doing game this week.
Neil figured he would be cutting out early and I don't want to do
that for episode 7. Oh well, it can wait a week.
Watered the plants.
Came back here, checked sites. Gave Lucky salmon water, which he
gratefully accepted despite turning his nose up at it the last time.
Mickey still hiding. Boo! Bad Mickey! He wasn't in the window
yesterday night either.
Did a kitty walk.
One call, she can't figure out where to plug in a USB device. Help
me.
Looking ahead we see it's almost Labor Day, so that's coming up.
Maybe Sunday? Risk of rain on Monday. Otherwise tomorrow, not sure,
I've already got the next two pony episodes pretty well planned,
don't have writing to do, maybe I could do a System chapter? See
reasons against this in previous entries.
I'll do the shopping, see my parents. No game.
Then Saturday a bit of getting ready for the labor, like washing the
deck and that's actually probably it.
Then either of the two days we'll do the outdoor stuff, and the
carpets, and the usual. Another year has gone by. Soon it'll be
leaves falling, pumpkin spice, carols, and The Big Jolly Man. Didn't
get much snow last year, we'll see if that trend continues.
Well, that's it. August over. Hope it treated you well, see you next
month.
