2024-08-23:

Fri:
Very busy, got a lot of the D8.0 stuff done, but Joe doesn't know what they added for the project? Uh, okay.
Wrote a bunch of bugs, sigh. A regression relating to email address book search, some SNMP stuff I hadn't even known about before, and a few strings being wrong. THose I admit to missing the first time. There's a lot of strings relating to "smart card" so it's going to be a bit of a bear (a bear cub, if you will) to find them all.

Scott got us the PCL commands, they seemingly work on HP but not on our stuff. I'm sure Don will be thrilled at this news. He had nothing to say on it today though.

No haul.

Got the OneDrive working to the extent I could. We blew it away and reloaded it. This worked fine.

Did the shopping, saw my parents.

Then more philosophical discussions in game. Sean says he wants to play it as a little girl's cartoon, but then spends two hours arguing with them that they don't want to change in the "right" way. Rather than just saying "we'll help you because you've asked for help and this is a great way to become friends." So we didn't quite finish, but we can see the finish line from here. The more I think about it, the more I think he's advocating for his own amputation, as the problems are exactly the same and that's basically his solution. You have a problem? Fix it by undergoing an extensive physical modification with unknown psychological and physical ramifications.

Near midnight.

Sat:
Cut the catnip out front. More is already growing in for next year, tiny, tiny sprouts! Yay! I'll have plenty for the winter to give my kitties!

Looked for grapes, got a few more but there are still plenty to get ripe.

Then cut the grass in back. Even as early as it was it was still pretty hot. Had to sit in front of the fan when I was done.

Checked sites.

Washed the upstairs again. How could so much dust be left from last time? This time did the trick, it's all nice and clean up there. No more dusty litter up there, thank you very much.

Haven't updated my website in /ages. /So I did that. All tidied up.

Humm, almost lunch time, perhaps? We are just busting through our list of chores here!

Did writing. I somewhat cheated, as I had a lot of the dialog already written for the next chapter because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss any points in telling them what I needed to tell them. I just had to adjust it. So I finished that chapter and wrote part of the next.

Then over to Sean's for game. We got out of the pocket dimension and

married

Sun:
Did my daily reading.
Had lunch, there was a lot. Not a lot of lunch, I mean a lot to read.
Did some cleaning, getting ready for tomorrow.
Played some Shantae. It was on sale for $15.00 (half price) and I really did like the last Shantae game which I got for free. I figured I should at least reward the studio a tiny bit for their efforts, even if I never play the game because I'm so behind on my games library it's not even funny. But I at least wanted to try it out. As expected, enjoying it. They do have an attention to detail I like, the sprites and animation are very well done.

Little bit of Highlander TV.

Then xbox with the others. We're progressing the plot at least.

Mon:
Got back to testing the Yubikey stuff. I started a second machine, should go faster than the first time.
Whoops.

See, here's the thing. I got it all tested. I wrote another bug, even. Fantastic. Got a decent haul, but couldn't go to my parent's house because I had to do TV guy.

Wrote the rest of the pony story so we're caught up. Now I can work on the next adventure.

Went to upload the test plan to the site and realized it was the wrong one. Or rather, I had done the wrong test. See, it has Yubikey in the name so naturally I did the yubikey test. Nope. It's the IdP test. Sigh.

So tomorrow I get to do that, proper, test. I figure I have both machines set up with the software, I'll do the "dual" test by having them both do the same thing at the same time. I've done it before on versalink when I need to test a zillion models. It should cut down the effort. Stupid test, why did it have to have yubikey in the name?

Went to see TV guy. He's having trouble with his Youtube TV subscription. He claims he was being billed twice, but I don't buy it. He was getting it through Frontier as he has their fiber service. Yuck. Anyway, it's like $75 a month. Who watches enough TV to justify that kind of cost? Wow. So he canceled it, the "second" account with Google, who of course owns the darn thing. But I think that canceled it for Frontier too. So I added it back, but it was all 'you have an order in progress, check back later" instead of just charging him and letting him use the service. So I said "wait, I guess?" and came home.

Ate dinner, checked sites.

Opened my car remote, the battery died. I need to get a new one. Thankfully it works without it, if you put it in the right place in the car. Almost didn't unlock it though. (I know there is a key, it would have worked it just would have been very annoying)

Rainy!

Worked on episode 6. Ah, we're getting somewhere on it now! I've got some good ideas for it.

Then xbox.

Tues:
Spent the morning doing the dual test as I said I would yesterday. That was fine. I did write a few more bugs up. Got it done just before lunch. Whoops, totally flaked on the 9:00 Joe meeting. How did that happen?

Then after that I looked into the specs, which I didn't have? I don't think I made that test plan? I don't know, it's all over the place. Anyway, looked at every tag with a D8.0 and found a few I didn't have. Put them into the test and made sure they were okay. At least most of them. That took about 2 hours.

Then I had to go to building 208 to see about the 3d printed USB hub cover. I don't know why, it's not like I have any policy making power. Do whatever you want.

Then the 3:00 onedrive meeting. Still waiting on logs, I guess.

Let's see, Joe wants me to fill in his instructions he sent me, rather than just asking for a D8.0 machine to look at on his own. Uh, sure, I can do your job for you. And the guy I sent logs to yesterday for the onedrive issue wants ... you guessed it... more logs! What as shock and surprised face I have right now.

So that's what I'll be doing tomorrow morning.

Brought my parents food, and came home.

Checked sites, ate dinner.

Got ready for tomorrow. One call. Of course she can't articulate anything so it could be anything.

Then xbox, moving the plot forward.

Wed:
Some work, but then some writing as well.

Started the day with work. Got the log for onedrive person, they were pleased.
Worked on the instructions for Joe, that took some time.
Then more PJL stuff for Don. With some fonts loaded by Jen onto a different device the commands do work, so we know their output now. We can probably test.

Went over Christina's bugs, in case we get a software version (we won't) while she is away.

Then some writing. Not much, I at least got through all the fights. Had to talk to Gina, tell her that, no, that screenshot she's showing me isn't from a printer. It's clearly the xerox website. You can even see where it says to go to the xerox website? You see that? You see- you see it. I mean honestly. Oh and I tightened up the next episode. I think I've got all the pieces in place. Can we finish it in one night? Finish the previous and get though this one, to get to episode 7, that I've been looking forward to since the beginning? It's going to change SO MUCH. (about pony society and such)

Then out to see about whatever that lady was talking about.

Getting there was a hassle. Turns out not only is there a lane reduction on 490, there was a garbage truck involved in an accident /right there. /Yes, wonderful. So we all had to get around that. Smooth sailing after that. My goodness was her machine slow. SSD, check! But 4GB of RAM? The heck? How? Why?

Finally got home about 6:30.

My visitors come tomorrow, so I made sure things were straightened up around here. Not too much, mind.

Checked sites, ate dinner.

Few more episodes of Highlander.

Thurs:
Mix of work and writing today.

Setting Don straight about the PCL stuff.
Meeting a guy about the onedrive stuff, he's as perplexed as I am about how he's going to actually solve anything with no logs, no access to the devices, no reproduction steps.
Recorded a video for Joe about the IdP stuff. Learned the snipping tool in windows can just do it. Don't need my cam software at all. Nice!

Finished the Emberhaven chapters. It's coming up to a good stopping point but it's far short (20,000 words) of where I would want a book to be. Ugh. Maybe "the event" can happen later.

Did the afternoon meetings, still nothing to report on OneDrive, why do we still have these meetings. The status meeting.

Oh, had a piece of cake. That's an important consideration.

Watered the plants. Weird how empty the "front" section is now. Though really the other section is probably more front than ours ever was.

Waited for my visitors to arrive. Ate dinner, checked sites. Got ready for tomorrow.

Took delivery of my new charges. Who immediately found the darkest hiding place they could, so no pictures for now. Poor guys, getting dropped off like that probably is terrifying. But hopefully they'll come to like the place.

One call, going out saturday to see about a thunderbird problem. Only 15 minute drive, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Looking ahead no parents tomorrow. I'll still do the shopping. Run game.

Saturday I go over to feed everybody. I'll bring stuff over then, like plants, and then go to Lowes and get the labor day stuff. I'll have to figure out what I need of course.

Not much going on Sunday but the usual. Reading. Video games I don't doubt, I need to do more Alan Wake.

Got one guest out. If guest two doesn't come out I may have to force it a little tomorrow. But hopefully everything will be fine.

See you all next week. The final days of August!
