Fri:
Finally did the demo. There was a bit of a miscommunication. But it
worked out in the end. I thought, in my that's-so-illogical way of
thinking that us doing the demo together would be, you know, us...
doing the demo... together. Like, in the lab. Like he would watch me
do the demo, perhaps provide his own commentary, and approve it. But
he didn't show up by 10:30 (a half our late) so I just went ahead
and did my best efforts. I had email and teams turned off so they
wouldn't pop up during recording. I later learned at 10:22 he
emailed me "are you available for the demo?" Uh, yeah Joe I'm here
in the lab waiting for you. So I guess he just wanted to like see my
scren remotely while I did the demo? Thanks for making that clear
big guy. Anyway, I had the file and watched it. Uh, why is the audio
and video so out of sync?
Had to slow it by 83% percent, so dumb. I guess my recording
software recorded the video and audio at different "framerates?" So
I had about a minute of audio after the video ended. Great, just
great. Thankfully we have Macs in the office, I was able to use
iMovie (hey, remember that????) to separate the two tracts (windows
movie maker couldn't do it) and then selectively slow the video
track by 83% making it match up again. Ur the best windows, how do
people using you get anything done? You suck.
Otherwise just reading. Good haul, missed the second part it was
gone but I went right away. Sigh.
Did the shopping, saw parents.
Home for sites, and then did game. We got out of the spirit world
market with the needed item. We only have one more item to go. So I
should be able to finish my second talisman and finally fulfill my
role as the main attacker. It took long enough.
Sat:
Did the outside stuff. So many weeds still! The pile is growing.
Moved a couple of berry bushes around, getting rid of more of that
yucky ground cover and putting tiny bushes in their place. Grow my
pretties! Grow and produce yummy berries for me! The ones I planted
in the temporary area are still going strong, so I think next week
I'll move them into place. More yucky ground cover plant dug up,
more berries. Sounds like a win to me.
That took a good part of the morning. I was cutting weeds out of the
front area so that added some time.
Then sites.
Reading.
Lunch.
Oh right, I didn't have to go to Yahoo guy, he called at 10:30 PM
last night. Said a frontier tech called him? Uh, no, I don't think
they do that? Why would they do that? But he claims his email is
working again, which okay but Frontier doesn't maintain their email
server anymore it's all done by Yahoo. So can they even influence
Yahoo? I mean I suppose they could but the whole thing is very
strange. He also said the tech said he was "hacked" and is "taking
care of that too," but again, how would this person know? Whatever,
it saves me 40 minutes of driving and trying to deal with this guy
in person.
Paperwork type stuff. I never did the paperwork for two months ago,
but there were only two things to enter. There was twice that many
for last month. Ooooooo. Raking it in.
Cleaned up the house.
Did a kitty walk. Though it's more of a "kitty finds yummy grass to
eat" than a walk. He does a lot more standing around and trying to
eat plants than walking. But you know what I mean.
Reading.
Parents came. Only one movie left. I suggested TV shows next? Or
figuring out some movies they wanted to see I could look into...
legally... acquiring. All very legal.
And then xbox.
Sun:
Did the front lawn, it was nice and cloudy but still a bit humid.
Sunday readings.
Then more readings for the magic system. I may not get much more out
of the story at this point. Humm. May start writing the rules up
sooner, rather than later. I think I have a good handle on the way
this writer did things, and my system isn't a 1:1 emulation of it,
but certain ideas are valid and I want to represent them.
Did Sunday stuff like watering the plants. Next week I'll trim the
connection and everybody will be on their own. You may recall I have
only a few left to put in pots, the ones that were upside down. Not
sure what I'll do about them.
Got ready for tomorrow.
One call, just a guy needing more google space. So we purchased it,
and I started backing up his pictures. His documents and desktop was
already backed up by onedrive. So he's pretty well covered now.
Rained a bit today.
Mon:
Looks like a cloudy week, may be up in the low 80s later too.
Rain is good for berries, I approve.
Not much exciting going on at work again. Now that we're past the
D7.8 release it should be fairly quiet.
Worked on the Building Block Magic document pretty much the whole
time. Got several pages done. Could be fine, maybe not. We'll have
to see how it goes.
Got back here, took a kitty out.
Checked sites, ate dinner. One call, left a message.
More reading until Xbox with the others.
Tues:
Only real work thing was helping the developer guy reproduce two of
my bugs.
We did of course have the three meetings. Two with Joe, and the
onedrive meeting that went nowhere because I guess the guy that was
supposed to be there wasn't. So we're meeting again Thursday.
More writing. Got the skills mostly done. It's going well, shaping
up I think. I'm leaving some of my ideas out, because it's more of a
template now but I am going to do a "sample world" showing how I use
the process to create a somewhat unique magic system for a world
using the ideas. So that'll need to be done.
Huge haul, overflowed the box. Barely got it all in the bag to bring
to my parents.
It was a day early. I didn't expect it until tomorrow.
Went to see them, then came home. No calls.
Went out with a kitty, maybe rain the next few days? Nice out today.
Then sites, eating dinner, and getting ready for tomorrow. Then
xbox.
Wed:
One meeting today, part 2 of the spec review, the one I had to leave
early the last time. Riveting stuff, let me tell you.
Finished a first draft of the rules part. Still need to add the
tables and sample spells but I started writing up a use of the rules
to create a new magic system.
Helped Adnan a little, basic computer stuff, nothing major.
Came back home, was checking sites, and lost power. Got it back
maybe 2 hours later? Fun stuff. Ate dinner. Took a kitty walk, it
was a bit wet outside because it rained a few minutes but he didn't
mind. No eating grass today though.
Finished checking sites. Then reading.
Thurs:
Pretty busy today, but mostly meetings. Oh yeah caught a mouse last
night too.
Dropped Oliver off at 8:20 to get his urine sample, had to leave
him.
Was late to the meeting, but it was just everyone complaining about
the new requirements for users and domains and whatever that Ken is
totally against in any case. The others agreed. So there wasn't
anything I needed to say.
Met with the OneDrive people to do the upgrade. It went fine, they
kept going on and on and on about cars instead of doing, you know,
the install which should have taken 5 seconds? It was lunch time,
please get on with it. Finally the guy copied all the files
and they tried it. Whoops, looks like their stupid Azure is messed
up, it won't let them on. Let this be a lesson to you. Don't trust
Microsoft.
Good luck figuring that out, suckers. Not our fault this time.
Ate lunch finally in the middle of that, as they were looking at
Azure and I was like "I'm out of here." Right after that went to
pick up Oliver and brought him home. She said he was a good boy.
Had another meeting with the OneDrive writer, to tell him of the
"good" news.
Then the status meeting, and plants. I then worked on a setup
document for USDA to make our new feature work. Because that's my
job, documentation. I do it all, I guess. I stayed late, why I have
no idea I was just proofreading the magic system. Yup, main text is
all done. Just need to proof it a whole bunch.
Came back here, did a kitty walk. Then dinner and sites.
One call, didn't reach him yet.
More reading of course.
Looking ahead I might get a haul tomorrow, we'll see. It's the right
date for it. Not sure work wise, nothing major is near that I know
of. More proofreading. Oh yeah, another meeting with the OneDrive
people, not that I can really contribute anything. Don wants to take
Christina and myself out to lunch. Hope we get back in time, nudge
nudge, wink, wink! I really hate onedrive. I'll have to go to my
parent's house in the morning, drop off the new little one. The
traps have been tripped for days but nothing came of it. Why are you
still in here little ones? Go outside and get yummy things to eat
and have little mouse babies. Don't stay in my walls.
Then shopping, seeing my parents, and then back here for game.
Saturday is the Pyre game, maybe we'll get through this curse
business? Eager to see what's in store for me.
Otherwise I have plenty to do. Replant those berry bushes after
ripping up more of that nasty ground cover leaf. Cut the back lawn
maybe. Unscrew the dehumidifier and see if I can figure out why it's
noisy again. I know I did it once, but I forget what I did. Maybe I
just tightened it? Do you like tight things? I think most people do.
I'm sure the solution will come to me, as it did before. Maybe I
just oiled it. I never did find my oil can, the one I used on the
sewing machine before Mom found me the new one. Where could I have
put that thing? Weird.
Got in touch with the guy. He called me. Ugh, laptop with maybe a
bad LCD? I really hate changing them. Like, a lot. But that's future
Robert's problem. Saturday. Oh well, at least I'll have Sunday all
to myself.
Almost Father's day. See you next week everyone.
