2024-05-23:
Fri:
Didn't get through the whole test of cloud auth. Had to write a bug.
Did some work on the lexmark thing, we're not sure if it's a bug or
not though.
It was more laziness than not enough time though. No work on the
demo Joe wants to film.
Did the shopping, saw my parents. Did get to see Penny and even
touch Mr. Jingles on the paw! He's warming up to the whole situation
I can tell. A couple of months and I'll bet he'll be poking a
whisker out with only the slightest tremor.
Back here I checked sites, then did the Friday game. We got out of
the spirit world with our gifts! Sean was uncharacteristically
generous, makes me nervous. I have double enegy, I instantly got my
talisman making skill to a 10, Miki got the barrier skill, I can
draw upon my parent's knowledge. I think there was something else
too I'm forgetting?
Sat:
Checked sites.
Made pie. Making the pie usually goes a bit better than it did. I
dropped some of the berries, almost didn't have enough flour or
shortening, oven was smoking a bit right when I turned it on. But I
got through it.
Rained last night so grass was still wet.
Watched Sandman episodes. I'm not impressed but at least it's
getting better. Why all the episodes about getting "the tools" back
but once we do, they're never seen again? I thought they were
important?
Ate lunch.
Worked on my character, took some spells, made sure I didn't want
any other skills (I didn't) and made sure I had a list of things to
do once we take care of the "us being missing for a week from
school" situation. Time to get to work.
More Sandman.
Went to Sean's. Watched the movie, got second place in Wingspan,
(Mizzy got first and Sean was last by 6 points. Or was it 7?) and
then did the turtles' game. It's pretty good!
Sun:
Finished Sandman. The writing got better as the series went on.
Still a lot of plot holes and loose ends and not nearly enough dream
battles where people throw their imaginations at each other. I was
hoping it would be Lucid (our Paragon Module) but it was not.
Disappointed.
Sunday stuff, getting ready for tomorrow.
Made two calls. Yahoo guy again for some reason, and who
is again insisting I come over there instead of just connecting to
his machine remotely. Why? There's no reason for it, dude. None. And
a guy who I guess is trying to replace a MacBook with an iPad? And
wants all his stuff moved over. Uh, doesn't work like that friend.
They're not equivalent devices. But that's Tuesday, to see what he's
actually trying to do. Why would he think that would work? It
doesn't even have a keyboard, why would you think "your documents"
would even open? It's made for consuming webpages and apps. Of
course he couldn't tell me what capacity the iPad even had or how
much stuff approximatily he wanted to move. So very helpful. Clearly
he has no idea what he's doing. That's the best place to be when
spending money on tech. Just throw something at a dart board, I'm
sure the universe won't do you dirty because of your ignorance.
Promise.
That's it.
Mon:
A minor haul even though the date is tomorrow. That's why you always
check. Lots of fruit for some reason, never seen that kind of thing
before. Grapes.
Got back to work on the IdP, let's finish it up today!
I did! And I did a run of the card reader update. But Christina did
one too, and on the same model apparently. Whoops. Communication!
It's hard. I only did a partial test, but she went ahead and did the
full test because she is a better person than I am.
So we're pretty much done with D7.8. No news on the demo recording
but Joe is already working on some XWS integration or something? He
wanted a 4:00 meeting and I was like, no can do buddy. I already
have something planned for that time. I'm sure he'll record it, I
really have no idea what XWS even looks like and we don't have one.
We borrow the one L3 maintains. All these different authentication
methods are stupid.
Out to second work, remote wouldn't have worked he has a Mac, which
I once again forgot about. Whoops.
Got him straightened out though.
Back here I ate dinner, checked sites. One call. I was able to do it
remotely. She somehow threw her thunderbird alias away. Silly.
Xbox with the others.
Tues:
The usual Joe meetings today. He again said we should soon get
together to work out the demo we want to record. I agreed, we should
do that! He did not do so.
Don thanked me for actually testing the lexmark code, as my
explanation seemed to show them they just assumed it would work,
where it did not. Go me. You have to wonder why they didn't do the
10 seconds of work it would take to switch the cert and make sure
the device served it. I mean, really.
Small haul, nothing to write home about.
Finished two chapters of Emberhaven book 2. Probably at least a half
chapter left if not more.
No news about the color table, and Joe wanted me to send the IP
address of a device for some XWS test, I did, no news on that front
either. Yes, USDA just keeps piling stuff on. Honestly, do we need
printers to be this complex? Just print to them. You don't need two
simultaneous authentication methods, no really.
Then out to second work. It wasn't as bad as I thought. He didn't
actually have much to move, and he is I guess paying for iCloud? He
had a 50GB capacity. I have no idea what the free default is, but it
must be lower. Thankfully he didn't use the music that was on there,
I had no idea how I was going to move that over. And he wants me to
tell him if the iPad is good enough for him. Dude, I'm not you. I
don't know what you do on a daily basis. It's meant to do certain
things, do you do those things only? Then great, maybe so. I
wouldn't use one. The one I have just sits there. Sorry Neil.
Checked sites, ate dinner. Took a kitty out, it's super nice out
like in the 80s already. So much for spring, it's summer now, baby.
Take off those clothes, you don't want to get too hot!
Then xbox with the others.
Wed:
Still not much movement from other people.
No news on the color table. No news from Joe about the demo. I did
get the XWS test done so I could at least get rid of that action
from the backlog. No news from lexmark about fixing their issue.
Finished the chapter, or at least as much as I could. About 2,500
words of the 3,000 I like them to be. Now we wait until June to get
more content.
Not much else exciting. Heavy rain on the way home, but only in a
limited area.
Here I ate dinner, checked sites. Took a kitty for a walk.
No calls. Watched anime and then got ready for tomorrow.
Thurs:
So we learned the lexmark thing could be taken care of with a
reboot. It starts using the cert after that. Don isn't happy about
that "solution" though as the device didn't have to do that before
and doesn't indicate that it's needed. So we're still going to go
back and forth with them.
Looked at a bug with the developer guy.
Had the usual meeting, not the onedrive meeting a lot of people are
out until Tuesday.
Worked on the spell list.
Watered the plants.
Nothing much big.
Came back here, checked sites, had dinner.
Took a kitty walk and saw the bun! Brave bun, didn't even run away
when we spotted each other. Oh right, that's probably the bun that
just watched me cutting the grass.
No calls.
Looking ahead not much planned for tomorrow. I'll probably go to the
bank, do the shopping, (I need more flour and such) and see my
parents. We're doing game, maybe one of the last ones as Sean is
asking about a season 2.
No big plans for the weekend. Cut the back yard lawn. Do more
weeding, I didn't do any last week. Oh, I saw some nice milkweed by
the stairs, I hope there's more here and there just like last year.
Of course we have Monday off.
Wow, we're almost halfway through the year already. Hope it's going
okay for you. See you next time.
