2024-03-14:
Fri:
Spent the whole day working on the card reader stuff. We both wrote
one bug!
At least I got through it. I'll probably do another model, just for
completeness? I don't know.
No writing or anything, it was just work, work, work. Nothing in the
trash either but I'm still hopeful.
Went to the bank, shopping, and saw my parents.
Back for game. We got through one path and part way through another.
We're raking in the XP and I'll be able to put most if not all my
plans in motion with what we have once we get back. This turned out
to be a real windfall. I'll just need a couple of weeks to finish
polishing up my skill, and maybe two weeks to work on the talismans
I want. I have a few more in mind but those are more long term
plans.
Sat:
Finished the combat, and the chapter. Which is chapter 12, if you
cared. That took all morning.
Ate lunch.
Picked up a finished warframe, got some mods on it so I'm not doing
that on the fly when we play next.
Did some of my Sunday reading, waiting until it was time to leave.
Did game, gave everyone their copy of the first book. Got my cute
little birdy plush from Neil for Christmas. He left it when he
visited and I've not been there since, as we didn't do game last
month.
Did three adventures apparently, as they all lead into one another.
And we have a quest and got a magic sword for Snarly. With some kind
of poison delivery system built into it? Into a sword? Odd but okay.
Seems fragile to me but maybe it's been magically strengthened. I
haven't had a chance to look into it.
Watched the last Furious movie meaning I stayed way too late. I
don't care too much about the time change but my chemicals are all
confused!
Sun:
Got up way too early. Ugh. And not for any reason either. Just stay
asleep, me! Is it that hard?
Checked sites. Set my clocks forward.
Finished the current book I was reading. Had two cats laying on me
snoozing.
Started a new book. I'm not sure about it, we'll have to see where
it goes to see if I finish it.
Cleaned up, got ready for tomorrow.
One call, just making her an ebay shortcut on her desktop. Sigh. And
then she called back like 20 minutes later while I was doing
warframe with the others insisting it was gone. So I said "you know
the address for ebay, just open chrome and type it into the address
bar." Wow, could she not handle that. Whoosh. I had to go back to
the PC, connect to her system, and there was the ebay shortcut I had
made. "Uh, is this the thing you said was not there? You remember me
asking you where you wanted it, right? And I moved it right here
while you watched? You recall this? Great, byeeeeeeee!!!"
Mon:
No haul again. What the heck is going on?
Worked on getting logs for the onedrive thing, because their server
lost data or something.
Then back to the new card reader stuff. I was about halfway through
when Christina went on a call with them. Much more information that
should have been given to us like, I don't know, weeks ago? We're
getting more test files so we'll need to basically do most of the
test again. Yay!
Finished the series I was reading.
Then worked on the cert thing. Whoops, it's not implemented in ARM
processors yet. Sigh. Recovered the machine. Loaded the intel
machine. Hopefully convinced Gina testing the voice stuff is a
compete waste of my time. Listened to Don's story about buying a
laptop and said I could look at his daughter's old macbook to see if
I can get it booting. Went back to the cert stuff. Looks good! At
least for that machine.
Did some scanning tests, on the slowest scanner in existence. Left
late because of it, which is fine. At least we're finally getting
someone to actually look at the stupid not getting anywhere scanning
thing.
Huh it's almost 7:30 and I can still see the outside. How did that
happen? Oh right.
Checked sites, ate dinner.
Two calls. One person that again needed to reboot their machine. And
the lady just down the street from work that still can't figure out
how to hit the print icon and print something.
Tues:
Work wise, they haven't gotten us the files for the card readers.
Did some XDM for Christina, she wanted to see if you could send the
upgrade file that way. It was technically in the test plan. But our
license only lasts 3 months, because reasons. It was a pain last
time to get a new one but this time I included the whole
conversation I had last time so they could look it up. It was much
easier.
Went to a Joe meeting about the USB hub, and the onedrive meeting.
They have the logs for us, and we told them we were looking at stuff
on our end.
Finished the first chapter of book 2, and started the next chapter.
Oh those silly hobgoblins!
Went to see printer lady, told her to click on the print icon. Super
tough stuff.
Came back here, checked sites, ate dinner.
Got ready for tomorrow. Oh, someone called at 10:00 PM last night or
thereabouts. I know, right? So I'll call him back. Took him twenty
minutes to download my remote client. How, after 40 years, can
people be so inept at the thing they're probably doing every day? It
doesn't make sense to me.
I showed him in dropbox how he saved the file, it had a certain file
size, and then he just somehow wipes it out. He also admits to
having memory problems, so while he insists he is not doing this,
the evidence suggests otherwise. I know, some people don't believe
in evidence. Naming no names. But there you have it. I showed him
how to restore the files on his own. Forty minutes that took.
Really, maybe learn the basics??? I don't know.
Then xbox with the others. Got my two new warframes leveled up and
get the last piece of a weapon I started building. Not bad.
Wed:
Had another project come in today, so just keep piling it on I
guess. We did not get the files for the card reader tests. Though we
did get a second batch of card readers so that's something.
Here's something: the patron of taking things out of the garbage has
not yet abandoned me! Yes! I got a decent haul once again. No salad,
and I'm keeping most everything because I was getting a bit low on
stuff but once again I have eaten almost directly from the trash and
lived to tell the tale. Though I think I'm growing a
tail? I'm sure that's fine.
Had another meeting with Don now that the new thing is in the queue.
It doesn't sound too bad, it's for one of the home machines we
honestly shouldn't even be bothering with. What company that we
service is buying them? Our market is 10,000 machines installed
across the USDA or something, not twelve home printers. Whatever. It
should be quick.
Finished the second chapter of book 2, made changes to chapter 3 to
account for it, and I'm ready for the next section of content.
Came back here, checked sites, videos.
Thurs:
Meetings today, a bunch of meetings. Three of them, to be precise.
The usual status meeting, the one before that about gabi (what
else?) and the one before that about onedrive. It's all we do! We
don't finish products and move on, we endlessly go back to them
because we just didn't have time to do it right the first time.
But maybe our machines can read some part of the screen by this time
next year? Who knows? No talking back though, because we know that
would never work. Do they really have good enough speakers for that?
Otherwise not much. Tomorrow I'll write some test cases for the new
cert expiration thing. Why not? Gina hasn't gotten us any
information about her new project, nor will the firmware files for
the card readers come in until next week. It won't rain but it'll
pour. (It's going to rain a bunch according to the weather report
for the next few days)
May as well look into the future now as well. Shopping, seeing my
parents. Ah yes, the entire family for some kind of celebration.
I've forgotten what it'll all about but it'll come back to me no
doubt. I believe game is on, we still have plenty of roads left to
travel in the spirit world. I should be home in time, it's fine.
Then Saturday, having my parents over. No big plans I don't think.
No calls today, so nothing there.
Napping. Plenty of naps.
Did some more of the game I'm playing, and it's about bedtime. See
you all next week.
