Fri:
More proof reading, up to the 1/2 way point.
Not much work wise, spoke to Gina about Gabi. Oh and did the monthly
server check.
Got some new Gabi stuff I'll try Monday, and the developer lady is
coming back to see me.
Did the shopping, saw my parents.
Back here, put stuff away, checked sites.
Then did game.
Didn't get through it, we're still moving the ship around. As usual
we either over thought it, failed rolls so the plot didn't happen
(uh, like, really Sean? In that case this is your fault)
and we were just about to like teleport to America and start
tracking down people with other parts of the ship when Sean was like
"let's dial this back a bit" and then we got attacked again by a
million demons. We have seemingly gotten away or at least changed
venue via teleport but we have no idea where we will arrive because
Sean hasn't thought of it yet. So we'll have to see next week.
Sat:
Mostly just played video games.
I finished the one RPG and started the next one from the same
company. It's not a sequel, apparently. The last game was left open
ended but this has nothing to do with it. Odd.
Then xbox with the others. Got my guns up to level and got more Wisp
parts. Well, two more. There is still one more to go, but it's not
even a rare drop. And I have plenty of relics that may hold it, so
chances are good I'll have wisp prime soon.
Sun:
Did my readings for the day.
Then was reading a web comic. Somewhat like "the gamer" but not as
good, story wise.
Then more RPG, after I got ready for tomorrow. Turns out one of the
members of my party was faking the whole thing. Yup, apparently
working with the "evil" lady to corrdinate the attacks on the town.
Now, here's the thing. If she was training the rest of the party for
something she knew was coming, that would have been questionable but
acceptable to a point. She wasn't. She just wanted to play the hero.
Now of course the game goes on, I know the truth, but my party
members don't. So it's a little odd to heal a party member I already
know has betrayed me.
Yup, a nice relaxing weekend all around. No calls, thank you!
Mon:
Got right to work on Gabi stuff. Loaded the new weblet, it solved
one problem (the network error) but added a new one (the onscreen
buttons don't work) so well done there. The D8.0 we're trying to
test was unaffected.
Met with the gabi lady for an hour, showing her the things I
discovered. Was also told we can't talk to the gabi company and get
any help on the server issue, so really we're screwed. Can this
project die now, please?
Did more proof reading, I only have 7 chapters to go.
Tomorrow I'll work on onedrive stuff more, we have another supposed
fix for the large file problem. Yay?
Came back here, no calls, checked sites, had dinner.
Played some of the game. Oh right, I did order a 2009 MacBook Pro
for a guy for $50 because that's way easier than disassembling his
to try and fix the wi-fi module. Honestly, it's a 15 year old
machine give it up.
Also one guy called. Printer issue, so he said. His printer was on
the wi-fi, and everything I printed was just fine. I don't know what
he was doing. So it was a half hour of nothing. neat.
Always love that.
Tues:
Quite busy today, with all sort of old things. I got a new action to
test a bug I hadn't written by Gina so I had to do that. If you have
one login method, and change it for another, and why would you, that
second method doesn't work. Now it does yay!
More onedrive and gabi stuff. Increased the timeout they wanted me
to. Didn't help. What is taking them so long to fix this problem?
It's been weeks. It's bizarre, it really is.
Don talked to us about machine resets.
Joe sent me information about a project he hasn't really talked much
about. It looks pretty huge, I mean, like, really big. Like several
smartcard tests rolled into one, plus a bunch of UI changes. Do we
really need yet more ways to authenticate to a device? We
already have like 8 of them. Why do we need more? It boggles the
mind. I'm not looking forward to any part of that project, from
making the test cases to running them. It's going to be awful. I
sent him a bunch of questions.
We had the onedrive meeting, nothing to report on either side. So
glad we have those.
Finished the proofread. Now do I turn it into an actual book or not?
Hummm.
Came back here, no calls again yet. Checked sites, had dinner.
Eventually Xbox with the others. Got the part I needed! Wisp prime
here I come.
Wed:
Work wise, got the solution to the cert problem, of course he didn't
like the first machine I gave him, oh, it's arm I prefer x86. Oh,
okay, let's just get a whole new device ready for you, then. But at
least his solution worked.
Also the log server was down or something so they wanted me to
download the log from the device I used before where onedrive didn't
want to scan on D8.0. Today it worked just fine. I did some timing
tests, or that is to say some more timing tests, because I'm sure I
did some before I just can't find where I put the results. It was
the same, no difference between USB and onedrive.
Got a few things in a haul, but missed the main part somehow. The
stuff for the 27th was still in the case last night, but today it
was gone. The garbage was undisturbed. Where did it go? It was just
snacks later, and one lonely pizza.
Joe didn't get back to me about my question for the mega project, so
thanks there.
Looked at a Kevin request, he wanted to talk but "had a meeting in 3
minutes" so, okay? I figured out what the customer wants though and
sent it to him before I left.
Came back home, checked sites. Ate dinner. No calls again.
Wind though. Plenty of wind.
Got ready for tomorrow, read the latest comic more.
Then more game playing.
Thurs:
Wrote two half chapters. How does that work you are probably not
asking? Well, as the game is coming up I figured I would get caught
up. But events proceeded a little differently in the novel than in
the actual game so I had to continue on that track a bit. I wrote
the first half of the first chapter, detailing our trek into the
sewers, which hasn't concluded yet. Then when we come out of the
sewers, the events of chapter 2, which happened in game before the
sewers, happen. But that was only a half chapter as well. It just
flows better this way, we wouldn't have made the town wait another
day or two to get the sewer cleaned out. Okay we would have we're
lazy murder hobos but this makes us less that.
Work wise, had the usual status meeting. Today was the big day for
layoffs, one SE in our group is now gone. Christina was doing one
project with him, I was doing the ldap log stuff. So that'll be
someone else now.
Joe wasn't at the meeting and hasn't gotten back to me about my
questions, so that's a thing.
Oh and more stuff was added to D7.8 so it has ... 8 things in it now
to test? In about a month, with three releases? Yeah, that's getting
delayed.
Not much else exciting. Cold and snowy, but it didn't accumulate too
much. I did start reading the book I left in the middle of. Need to
get back to finishing that!
Looking ahead, the usual tomorrow, shopping, and seeing my parents.
More reading, I doubt I'll get any new chapter written but you never
know. We're having a meeting with Don to discuss the upcoming
release, see what models we're going to do and such. Should be a
real hoot.
Over the weekend I'll need to do my annual sales tax calculations,
don't want to stiff the state on their $100 or whatever it is for
this period. Gonna be a lot I betcha.
Have my parents over for movie. That's about the only plans. March
now. Can you feel spring in the air?
See you all next week.
