Fri:
Helping out at work today. Tried to figure out why some guy couldn't log in.
He finally reloaded the main cert on his server. Was it corrupted or something? Very odd.
Also tested D2.9, wow there's an oldie but a goodie, the email NTLM thing we did for the other products. I will be quite glad when I no longer have to go into my server and change a setting just to send some email. I mean it's a quick test don't get me wrong but this one will have to be done on half a dozen machines.
These products are actually not long for the world, I think they go end of support in a year and a half? Something like that.
More rocks, reading, and no haul. The 18th food just vanished. I checked in the morning, nothing.
I checked right before lunch, the basket hadn't been emptied but no trace of the 18th food was to be found.
Now it's all the 22nd, only tuesday? Weird. Still, I have more than enough.

Did the shopping, went to the bank, and saw my parents.

Came back here, checked sites.
Won Remake, time to start the Yuffie adventure.
Then xbox with the others.

Sat:
Cleaned.
Checked sites.
Walked a cat around outside.
Worked on the rocks some more.
Ate lunch.
Went out to lady. It was fine, just minor stuff I could take care of. She is making life very hard for herself by coming up with very long passwords, not keeping them all in one place, and using two factor authentication for her email? That's really dumb. Are you discussing national secrets? No? Then you don't need 2-factor on your email.
Back here.
More rocks. I wonder if I actually have enough. The circle of rocks is actually pretty small, I think I've got a much larger circle than I need. I could scale it back by pulling the rocks I do have closer, it may be fine.
Started the Yuffie adventure.
Had dinner.
Wandered around the last area in Remnant with the others. Did not beat the lost boss. It switches between two maps, so you'll be lined up to take a shot at the thing and then, whoops, you aren't. Or trying to get someone up and now they're way over there. And the screen is filled with so much stuff you don't know what can hurt you and what can't. And the boss is of course enormous so it can hit you from basically anywhere. I could go on, you get the point.

Sun:
Checked sites while waiting for it to be late enough to cut the lawn.
Cut the lawn.
Did more reading, some of my stories didn't update this week?
Had lunch.
Did a kitty walk, as we were not meowing and teasing at the moment but sitting nicely. We reward good behavior, not bad.
Tried for an hour to get No Man's Sky working on my Mac. The controller will half work, allowing me to move, but not move the camera. What? It's recognized, so clearly the game knows it is there. So why does just one stick not work? And the buttons make it do crazy things, like make me start spinning in a circle and not stop. Great.
It's odd, I have to turn off a setting to get it working in the wizard game, and it seems to work fine there. But that same setting turned off in NMS it doesn't work at all. So I gave up and used my xbox controller. I really don't want to wear it out. I bought this controller because the parts don't wear out. Sigh. How many years have we had game controllers? The 70s, I think? Pong was around that time, right? And we still haven't figured out how to just let me plug in a controller and have it work? Really? It's just a few buttons guys, if you don't think you know what they should do, ask me, the player, to push them when the game opens so you can set them to in game actions. Super easy. Done. But no, it has to half work.

Whew boy is the game buggy. I guess, as with most other companies, they brought it to the Mac but didn't actually care about the Mac. The whole thing is going to different planets, right? You fly in your spaceship and you land on a new planet, ready to tear all the resources out of it for your own benefit. Just like in real life! But you can't land. Because there's no land. The planet either seems to be entirely water, (very low res water at that, the graphics are not that great) or just flat out vanishes from view. It's just gone. You know you're above a planet, because if you hit the "land the dang ship" button it says you can't. But there's no planet. This happened to me twice, I could see the other planets in the sky, through the planet I was supposed to be landing on. I reloaded the game the first time and the land finally showed up, but after it happened the second time I decided that no, that's probably it. It will happen every time I'm going to have to quit and reload every time I want to go anywhere. In a game about exploration. No, that's not acceptable. I tried to quit the game- it hung. Yes, it hung quitting. Now that's quality. Why do companies do this? Why bother putting in any effort at all if you're just going to leave it an unplayable, buggy mess? It doesn't make sense. I guess they got my money, but I'm just glad I got it on a sale.

Oh and space isn't red, fellows. It's black. Don't know if you knew that, but when I fly into space I expect it to be space. Black. With stars in. Not red. So weird.

Do I even want to go back to the xbox version now? I don't know.
I wanted to reward a company for supporting my platform. But this suuuuuuucks.
I could go back to the Xbox version already in progress, of course. But that was the collective game and sort of feels like me moving ahead without everybody. Of course, we're never going back to it. The others didn't like the multiplayer experience. And to be fair we should have done it differently. Worked on one base rather than 3, pooled our resources more, stuck together more. That sort of thing. I blame myself. I could also start a new character there, but again, despite my wanting to play the game more with this crappy port I'm sour on the whole thing. Sigh.

Did some reading instead. So there, take that video games!
Then, uh, more video games! With the others. We started Mizzy's world because running from your problems is the way to go. IF you can get stronger by doing so. Goku taught me that.

Mon:
I got roped into another demo, despite me not actually being told I was going to be running the thing. Thankfully I was prepared and it went off without a hitch. Go me!
No haul yet, and no news about the hire. Hummm.
Oh, I guess my start date is in three days? Or next Monday? He was like, sure, whatever of those two and the other lady was like, okay done, and I was like "this tells me nothing."
Only other work related thing was some investigation for Joe about a new project. Card reader stuff. I think I can do what he wants pretty easily, I was just investigating things now.
Needed the main part of the 3D model so didn't work on the rocks. I need to know how big to make the circle and I think it's as big as the main part is tall. So I did not do that. Nor did I do writing. So lazy.

Came back here, one call. A setup. Lovely, those only take 2-3 hours to complete. Yay.
Ate dinner, checked sites.
Tried to get some items in Remnant, I'm 3 short, because of course I am.
Got the rest of it while waiting for them.

Got a new armor set and some new guns in Remnant. Let me tell you about the armor. Wearing just the main piece of it gave me a higher armor number than all the pieces of my old set combined. This is what we call "video game logic." Let me explain. Imagine that you, yes you, right now, are wearing a full suit of armor like ye knight of olde. Now this is not going to stop a bullet of course but for most everything else you're set, no? Short of a bear or gorilla attack you are immune to animal attack, knife mugging, being hit with a frying pan. You're set. Now take it all off. It's fine, you are alone in your own mind, now and forevermore. Is it all off? Good. Now put on a single bulletproof vest. Imagine now that somehow, somehow, you are now more protected against harm than you were a moment ago. Even though you are not wearing pants, your arms are completely exposed, as is your squishy brain container thing, anything attacking you will nonetheless have a harder time damaging you than a moment ago. That's what happened here. I took off my normal armor that covered every part of me, put on the heavy breastplate, a modest pair of pants, and my armor rating was much higher than before. So weird.

Tues:
Work today! I did Joe's thing of plugging in various readers and getting the results of the tool. Some odd results, to be sure. Emailed him the results. He did not get back to me.

Loaded and tested a D8.0 build. I don't actually have the cards they want me to test. As if that matters. Anyway, I had to do this test for our team so it was fine, better to do it now. No issues, everything worked fine. Because why wouldn't it?

Spent an hour and a half looking for some blank cards, located in "small envelope, large cabinet." Like, past me, what does that even mean? Usually I number the envelopes and put the number. Cabinet? What cabinet? I looked in all of them. No blank cards. I doubt I could use those cards anyway, I don't think I have a tool to write them. We got them from somewhere else already taken care of. Also looked into erasing a card to reuse it for the test. Nope. Can't do it.

Sigh.

Came back here, setup guy wants Monday next, that's fine.

Monday next is also apparently my "start" date with this "Xerox" place. I should look into where that is or something, don't want to get lost on my "first" day!!! So dumb.

Thurs:
Decent haul today. Almost a full container, so we'll have plenty to eat for the next week.

Work wise proofread some Joe stuff.

And did the server check. All but one machine were basically fine. That stupid cola machine, I have to reboot it before it'll take the upgrade command, it just sits and spins otherwise. Then I had to reboot twice to actually do the upgrade. Whatever.

Otherwise, put the rocks plan into motion. I think it came out okay, surprisingly for me. Didn't even use all the rocks. So there.

Went to see gmail guy. He's using too old a machine to add accounts to mail, yet his old accounts continue to work? If oauth2 isn't... if... I don't want to know. I found an alternate way to do it, using some other special password, why is this special password better than the one he made? Again, I doubt I want to know.

I actually had to wait because he wanted 5:30 and I forgot. So I didn't go home, I just went there. Sigh. Oh well, it's fine.

Came back here, checked sites, ate dinner.

Made cornbread for the picnic tomorrow.

Thurs:
Most of today was taken up by the picnic. Well, half. But more than, because it turned out the place was a half hour away! Sheesh. Didn't realize that until the last minute when I looked up how to get there. I figured we would use the place we always use down the street. Nope.

I did get an intro to fishing though, along with Louis. He wants to take his 10 year old fishing. Which is weird, because he doesn't do fishing. Parents usually hand that sort of stuff down. Men who hunt take their sons hunting. That sort of thing. Is the child asking to go fishing? Why? Well, not my problem but it is odd in my mind.

Kind of a yucky day for it, raining and misty and cloudy the whole time.

Otherwise, uh, not much work done. I did attend a meeting about the plugin, and checked the machines for Christina who is out, they are doing fine with the fix from Fuji. Yay?

Came back here, one call. She wasn't at home and naturally couldn't articulate her issue, I'm calling her saturday morning and hoping I don't have to go out there for something very, very silly.

Checked sites, had something to eat but not too much I had a bunch of food at the picnic.

Looking ahead I'll find something useful to do on my last day working for stupid A+. See you again never! Then do the shopping, and see my parents. Home for game.

Saturday is also game, going over to Sean's. I wonder if Stan will be remote or not? Wait I already know he is, he said as such.

Otherwise cut the back lawn, start the next 3d print, buy the stuff for labor day. Humm buying the stuff is tough, I don't want to leave the 3D printer going. Maybe I can go right in the morning and get back here to start that? Nothing much else planned I don't think.

Did a bit of Remnant II, after watching a video I changed my class and rings around a bit. I think we need the extra healing. I didn't do too bad with the new build, though the boss I killed whacked me at the exact same time. And as they destroyed the stage, I'll never see what's behind that area. Sigh.

Well, time for bed. Only one more week of August people, get your Halloween ideas ready! See you next time.
