2023-06-29:
Fri:
Lots of work in the morning. Did the demo, took maybe 8 minutes. Not
much to show and it went fine.
Then set up the machine for the pen test next week.
Worked on the last character, wrote up more notes of things I can
put them through. Probably should have made the characters first,
but in this case I didn't know if I could even come up with enough
content for a whole book and wanted the assurance it would be worth
even trying this sort of oddball project. But I think it's going to
come together. Right now. Over me.
Got more haul, brought lots of stuff to my parent's house. Of course
they won't be here next week. They could take the stuff. I wonder if
they'll take the stuff? Stuff the stuff.
Did the shopping, saw my parents.
Then back here, checked sites. One robo-call and we did game. We
took care of one ghost. It took until midnight. That's about five
hours. We in the biz call that a bit of a slog. We are now
exhausted, without the resources to do any more magic until the next
day, and Sean says there are still plenty of mysteries in the town
to investigate. Neat. Maybe let's not throw 12 adventures into one
town if you're going to wear us down like this after only the first
one? I guess it's the second, but the "first" one was just getting a
moldy old doll from a well. There's no comparison.
Sat:
Cloudy, so I cut the front lawn in case it rains later. It's
supposed to. Spoiler: It never did.
Checked sites.
Do I want Pagie to be more powerful sometimes, with spirit grade, or
more versatile all the time, with more spells? I'm leaning towards
more spells, honestly. I compromised. I knocked off spirit grade at
two points and simply added one point to spirit well, and one point
to more spells. So she's fairly energetic and I went through
Orchid's spells and copied them over to her. I had considered just
"porting" her over wholesale but didn't want to let go of my elf
character. I think she'll be interesting to explore a "generational
gap" of thousands of years. I mean can a being that used to be an
angel and has lived for two thousand years on Earth really relate to
a 5 year old? No wonder she's going to be messed up.
Left for the festival. A bit hard to find, had to park in a field,
just driving and driving on the grass with no signs, very confused
as to where to go. But I made it there. No charge to park which was
nice, but boy oh boy no organization either. Cars all over the
place. In a field. Way, way deep in a field. Very strange. About
half as big as the lilac fest. I think they had the same performer
though. Hey, want random people to come up and talk to you at a
festival? Bring a dog. They had Martok and that made all the
difference. We walked around, missed the "car show" if there even
was one, and... Yeah. That was about it. Went back to their place.
Stayed for cake and a movie. Mortal! Commmmmmbat!
Sun:
Not sure where today went. I didn't think I got up that late but
maybe I did.
Took care of the yard work. Seeing some red on the berries, just a
hint. Rose bush is crazy with flowers this year. Found more grapes
on the side of the house, which is good because I don't think the
main vine is going to produce like it did last year. They're bigger
too. The berries in the space behind the driveway are going to
disappoint again. They're nice, big bushes but no berries on them! A
whole section. I don't get it.
Ate lunch, checked sites.
Did a bit of cleaning.
Tinker was all over me I guess he was bored so I sat with him and
did some reading while giving him many pets. He finally stopped
insisting on more petting and lay down on my lap. Silly kitty. Then
brushed him, he's shedding like crazy.
Dad came. Watched Endgame.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Did xbox with the others. Ugh, we have to do the full cycle 18 times
(or was it 14? Some crazy number) to get the initial resource to buy
the plans to make the new warframe. And you need some kinda river
stone you get from a minigame where you are a serpent eating fish
and you need 125 of them and you get a couple each time you do the
game. Yeah, thanks, Warframe. Oh, did I mention you only get 10 days
to gather these resources? I feel like that's important to mention.
Do these people think we don't have lives? That all players are 15
years old on summer vacation? Because we're not.
Mon:
Not much to discuss today. A guy said he was going to get back to me
about the Pen test but never did. Silly.
So I worked on chapters. I'm up to chapter 3 already. Neat. I need
to put it on the site.
I did that! Oh, and happy Bolt day. It's been 2 years since I got
the Bolt. Still super happy with the purchase. But I do miss you
little spark! Hope you're doing well for your current owner.
Went to good will, got two things so not a great run. Came back
after, it was pouring rain out. I'll go to Savers later, I hardly
get anything there anyway.
Came back here, checked sites. Ate dinner. Got ready for tomorrow
and more xbox. I guess you get more than 10 days, the guy that gives
the resource you need isn't going away, he just has to be found
differently. That's... okay it's not great but it's better than I
thought.
Did xbox. We're actually closer to getting the warframe parts than I
would have thought.
Tues:
Had three meetings all in a row in the morning. The first was
actually rescheduled. The second was the Joe meeting, moved from
10:30 to 9:00 for some reason. The usual status there. Then more
talk about a patch, not really anything I need to worry about at the
moment.
Then nothing. Still waiting on many things, though I did find a card
reader for Srayas, oh and I got a good haul too! Almost the full
bucket. One strawberry cheesecake, very yummy. 3 potato salad, not
yummy. My parents... humm I won't see them for a bit. And they leave
tomorrow morning. Should have dropped them off today. Dumb. I got
salad and other not sandwich stuff I'll have to eat up this week.
It'll be a trial I know but I'm willing to risk it.
So I did writing. I'm up to mid chapter 5 now.
Came back here, I figure I'll go to Savers on Friday, no need to
rush home.
Checked sites, had dinner. One call. Strange wi-fi issue. Hate
wi-fi, have I mentioned that? An hour and a half later I've finally
fixed her issue. It would connect to the wifi. It would get an IP
address. But the connection was "limited" which is, what? I finally
fixed it by going into device manager, and I guess selecting the
broadcom driver instead of the microsoft one? Impossible to say
which was selected before. Then it finally went "connected." I hate
windows. So much.
Oh, and I had to license aeroadmin for another year. Because it was
taking so long. Don't know how long I used the free version I didn't
keep track but it seems like more than a year since I licensed it.
Most calls don't take that long. So thanks for that, it's $120.
Neat. More loss to the business, go me.
And finally xbox.
Wed:
The slowest day, no meetings today. Christina is back though.
She moved a machine over into my lab because someone keeps locking
it out.
Helped Adnan briefly to print something, a weird PDF that just
prints as dots.
Otherwise finished chapter 4 and 5. Next chapter is a flashback,
where we see them meeting for the first time. Yeah, let's do that.
Came back here. Two calls? Come on.
Tomorrow I have to get up early and feed everybody. Then at 4:40
take Tinker in to the vet. So I can't do anything tomorrow.
I suppose I could do something Friday, and do the shopping Saturday?
Risky, not getting back in time for game. Haven't returned them yet,
we'll see I guess. One person said email I should be able to do that
remotely.
Checked sites, had dinner.
Made the calls. Whew. The first lady... had no problems at all. I
was like, did you try this? Oh, that works? Great. Now about your
second problem? Click here. Oh, that's what you wanted. Great.
Byeeeeee.
The second lady I moved pop servers. Maybe the old one just isn't
reliable? I'm hoping that fixes it.
Thurs:
Went over to feed everyone. Went fine.
Lots of demos today. Long ones. I started writing the next chapter
but once the demos started I had to switch to, you know, actual
work. One one hour demo, then about an hour working on the software
they demoed to get the machine set up, then an hour and a half demo.
(yes, it was painful) Then more work on the feature which we can
hopefully tell someone about this time. (it's the feature we really
didn't do very well in the last software, so I get to test it all
again in the current one!) I ate lunch through that one. Then
finished up (almost) the feature on one device. Have to do cloning
to finish it up, and then with the clone done and software on
another device I can test that one. I'll probably do three, just
like I did last time. Then the usual meeting. Then plants.
Came back here, checked sites, and headed out to the vet. Tinker
doesn't like it. He no longer follows the Way of the Leaf. I wonder
why? Silly kitty.
Back here, ate dinner, no calls thankfully.
Got ready for tomorrow. Bed early, still have to get up early
tomorrow.
Looking ahead it's feeding everyone tomorrow, then finishing up the
tests of the new stuff. Come to think of it, if I can load another
machine I can do both at once. Much more efficient. I think Arya is
free, oh wait I have to use the machines I have the key for. I can
always ask the guy for more but he's not quick about getting back to
me. Huh, well, I hope the machines I used last time are free but
there's really no rush. Oh, I have two bugs to write too.
Localization isn't complete and something else... I forget now.
I'll do the shopping, ah get kitty stuff may as well. Then game.
Sheesh, it's the end of June already.
Feeding everybody over the weekend, otherwise no big plans.
Hopefully start a 3D print. Finish the flashback chapter. Maybe
start the next.
Have a good 4th everyone, don't blow yourselves up. Or do, and
reduce the surplus population.
Oh shoot, now I'm gonna be visited by the three spirits of america.
Featuring the racists of the past, the bigots of the present, and
the MAGA cultists long, long into the future.
