2023-06-08:
Fri:
As expected, didn't start any of the new stuff.
I did however change a setting on the server several times so
someone else could do a test. It's related to NTLM_2 which I didn't
know was a thing. Something about authentication and it's been
around since, like, the windows 98 days and NTLM_1 is I guess going
away (finally?) and we didn't support it yet. Sure, I guess.
No haul.
Finished the chapter. Three dragons rescued, Poppy impressed,
ministry baffled, no one dead. Very different from the game where we
only rescue one dragon, the ministry wasn't involved at all, and
many, many people died. I think it's an improvement.
Went to the bank. Did the shopping.
Saw my parents.
Came back here, no xbox, just reading. Still many, many chapters to
go.
Sat:
Did the lawn and the yard work.
Then cleaned up the house. Moved the sewing machine into position.
It's on top of the old sewing machine, like building a city over the
bones of a sunken city. Took the thread out and put it back, so I
know I know how to do it. I did it! Sewed fine. Let's keep it that
way.
Checked sites.
Then reading. Put a few more new spells into the optional rules. I
doubt Sean would like my elemental orbs or the domain but, eh. No
one but me will ever see it really, so what does it matter?
Had movie night with my parents.
Did a little bit of xbox, but Sean was tired so only a few missions.
Then back to reading.
Sun:
Did a few things today. More weeding, checking up on the berries and
such. Moved two bushes, hope the survive the process.
Played some River City Girls 2, and even a bit of Warcraft III. If
you can believe it. I had started it over some time ago but I really
want to get to the elf part, which I suppose I could have just done?
Oh well, it's fine.
More reading of course.
Another spell or two put into the book.
Checking sites, videos.
Getting ready for tomorrow.
One call, didn't reach her. She called back. Somehow the password
for sending mail was different than getting it. I fixed this, thank
you Thunderbird for allowing me to see them, so she didn't have to
try and remember it. She was very confused about the usual "let's
finish setting up your PC" screen you'll see when you do certain
updates. Hey, MS, try not to confuse 80 year old ladies, hmkay? A
wall of text and having to make a bunch of decisions out of the blue
when someone is just trying to use their computer is not good
practices. Honest. I know you want everybody and their brother to
sign up for an MS account. So you can show them ads or whatever.
This is not the way to do it. The Win11 forcing people to do it when
they boot the device is not the way to do it. Stop.
Mon:
Stuff in the cooler is still dated the second, so no haul yet. And
it was still in there in the evening. Weird.
Otherwise, pretty much the same story today as last week.
I did make a few test cases for the NTLM thing, won't need it for
months of course.
Wrote the next chapter.
No calls, made the appointment for this Saturday for the recall.
8:15, ugh, hopefully it'll get done before the afternoon, we are
doing game unless it's canceled at the last minute. But that's never
happened, right?
Ugh, an hour on the phone with someone not able to send email.
Didn't really solve the issue either. Thankfully they're right by
work. Was late for xbox because of this guy.
Tues:
Good haul. One salad. Bottles of milk? They were still cold, I'm
drinking em. I checked multiple times, as I figured it had to happen
soon. One wrap that I had today. One salad, various stuff.
Work wise, still not much. Helped Christina a little with something.
Answered some emails.
Did the next chapter. Did reading.
Went to see email guy. I think he wasn't telling me everything he
saw last night. Got his email sending fairly quickly.
Back here. Sites and videos.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. The world is on fire. Maybe we should do
something about that? Soon? Seems Canada (Oh Canada!) was a wee bit
jealous about all our wildfires and decided to have some of their
own. The smoke from which is currently drifting over our area. So
nice of them to share. So it's hazy and was quite wood smoke
smelling earlier today. Tomorrow should be even worse. Neat.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Won ODST and got into Halo 3.
Wed:
Only excitement at work was lunch and a half hour talk with Don
about certs and what info the request had and why they might be
trying to change the format.
Oh, but before that, the sun was like a red orb in the sky because
of the smoke. Nothing like waking up to the blood sun, yes sir. The
end times are near.
Finished the next chapter. One more chapter with Poppy. I'm not
killing her off! It's just the end of her storyline. Poppy is far
too cute to die, you monster. Why did you even think that?
It's actually getting to the end of the book, only a few more
chapters to go after that.
Had one of my milk bottles, super fine!
That's about it.
One call, just a lady that needed me to turn off high contrast mode.
You need to hit three different keys to turn it on, how do you do it
accidentally? So weird.
Checked sites, ate dinner.
Thurs:
Had the usual meeting today, only other real work thing was changing
the setting on the server for more development tests. Again and
again.
Learned one test I need to do is moved out a month, so won't be
seeing that for a bit.
No chapter today, instead I worked on a write up for a new
supernatural ability for Pyre that I think I want to use in the
story. A shape shifter ability, but using the monster stones in that
setting. Wrote up the description for it, a new background, and the
skills it will need.
Came back here, no calls. Checked sites, ate dinner.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Looking ahead for tomorrow. Taking the car in at 8:45. Don't know if
I'll see if the shuttle (they still do that right) can bring me to
work or what? If it's only two hours "estimated" I might just stay.
We'll see, I guess. Nothing really pressing to do. Shopping, seeing
my parents. I think we're actually doing game this week, unless
there's some last minute change. And then the Pyre game on Saturday.
Whew, it's been months! Who even was I? Some stone lady I think.
Have to reacquaint myself.
Naturally yard work if it's not too smokey out. It wasn't bad today.
No red sun. See everyone next week then.
Oh, have to start working on gifts too. Sean's birthday, which I
know exactly what I'm doing, but the others for Christmas? Not so
much. Something will come to me I'm sure. Bye!
